I am all for my kids, whatever is their passion is MY passion! As long as their interests are not illegal and our good for the soul, I’m game! My son LOVES golf and we are doing everything we can to support his dream to be a pro! My daughter plays the piano and sings in the choir. Our youngest son LOVES the drums! We bought him a toy drum when he was only 3 years old. He has “beaten the crap’ out of that thing and we need to get him another one. For Christmas my wife and I have been looking for childrens drumsets. We know that this will make our son SO happy on Christmas morning!
My wife and I feel it is time to have our son learn good musical technique so we are also going to get him some learn to play the drums DVD’s. I am ecstatic because Christmas is a special time of the year to honor each family member’s passion, dream and unique personality. Now if someone would just get a new tennis racquet for me we’ll be in business!
Our illustrious twelve year old son has informed us that his big dream is to become a rock star and play the drums in a band that he is sure will make it into the big time. OK! What is a parent to do? Do we honor his passion or do we make him aware of the realities of life consisting of just how difficult it can be to actually “make it” into the big time? My husband feels and I agree that we do a little bit of both. So this Christmas our lucky son will be getting a kids drum set from Santa!
My husband and I have been looking at some good deals online and we both agree that is we are going to do things right, we also need to find good drum lessons for children. This will include finding a good instructor and purchasing some learn to play the drums instructional books and DVD’s. My only request is that he finishes all his homework before beginning his jam sessions and journey toward “Rock God” stardom!
My husband Steve says that we have to get a drum set as a Christmas gift for our nine year old son Ben. Steve says that his friend Patrick bought one for his son and the whole family is having such fun with it! Ben seems to want to learn to play an instrument and Steve says that kids drum sets are not that expensive. I guess I’m game if Ben is.
It’s great that in these times you can look online and search for good deals! Steve says that he is going to ask around as well. We certainly will also pick up a learn to play the drums DVD or book for Ben. I must admit that I can really see Ben having a lot of fun with this. I guess we will find out for sure on Christmas day!
