If your child expresses an interest in learning to play guitar and asks for lessons than chances are they will follow through and will want to practice what they learn. Age is not always the absolute deciding factor to determine a person’s interest in wanting to learn. A lot of parents are the ones deciding upon lessons. So, if your child is the one who has the interest, that’s a good start. Most children under the age of six don’t yet have the aptitude necessary to learn to play childrens guitar. There can always be exceptions but not usually. You can spend some time with your child yourself and call it music appreciation. Dance and play with them to music. They will develop coordination and appreciation for music. And one added benefit, they get to spend time with you. Today there are many different types of kids guitars available. You can even by amplifiers and guitar cases for kids for the complete package.
If you need to have your child supervised and you want it to be on the theme of music, guitar lessons might be a choice you want to make. If you want your child to just have some fun and do something interesting, you may well feel that it is worth the investment. If you are looking at seriously getting a head start on your child’s musical development getting them to learn proper technique from the start may be essential.
One of the most important aspects of encouraging children in a new pursuit—whether it be intellectual, physical or emotional—is to have worthy leaders to emulate. I have always encouraged my children to look to leaders for inspiration and motivation when embarking on a new endeavor. So when my youngest son picked up the electric guitar, I suggested that he listen to some of the pioneers.
I was excited when shopped around kids electric guitars, albeit a little nervous about the noise he would be creating. Luckily he developed an appreciation for the same guitarists that I loved—as opposed to those heavy metal thrashers. In just a few months he has developed in to quite an adept player.
My all “too cool” son says that he wants an electric guitar in the worst way. After a very persuasive argument he has actually convinced me that a kids guitar would be perfect for him. I am glad he is enthusiastic and I just hope that those “cool” kid guitars are in our price range. My son assures me that they are because he has a friend who got one last week and “his” dad is out of work right now. I guess I’m game.
After looking online and talking to friends I think that kids guitars may in fact be more affordable than I thought. His birthday is next month so I guess now is as good a time as any to get him this precious gift. I must admit that I begged my folks for a guitar when I was his age but my frugal parents made me wait until I was much older. Times seem to really have changed but when it’s all said and done, people remain pretty much the same.
I try to be the best parent I can be which is not always easy in these trying times. Money is tight and since my husband lost his job in November, we are managing but it isn’t easy sometimes. I think that now is a great time to show our kids that materialism will not make them happy and the best things in life are free. My son however would say that the best thing in life is a kids electric guitar! He has been hinting at this for several months as he knows he has a birthday next month.
I have begun pricing kids guitars online and so far I am pretty impressed with the price range. I think we will be able to get our son the guitar he has been dreaming of after all. I guess if he really learns to play the guitar well the whole family can enjoy it. The sound of music is priceless and hopefully the whole family can enjoy this gift!
Guitar lessons for kids might be one of the most beneficial things you can do for your child for a number of reasons. Music lessons benefit children in far more ways than just enabling them to play an instrument. For instance, music and mathematics go hand in hand, and in fact, music itself is very mathematical. Studies have shown that there is a correlation between the two, and music lessons can definitely have an indirect effect on your child’s mathematical reasoning. So, why take guitar lessons or all instruments? Well that’s mostly just a function of the kids’ interests. You’ve heard the horror stories of kids who were forced to take piano lessons only to grow up to hate the instrument. A lot of kids will be more interested in learning guitar simply because their favorite bands all have guitarists, whereas only a few might have pianists.
Finally, you may be saying ‘guitar lessons are expensive aren’t they?’ Well they can be, but they don’t have to be. A good one-on-one teacher will cost anywhere from $20 an hour to $50 an hour, but when your kids are just starting they should be fine with a lower cost teacher. You might consider buying your child a DVD based guitar course. Kids are amazingly in tune with technology, and tend to learn quickly from watching demonstration. There are some excellent courses that will take your kids through beginning to advanced technique, at their own speed, allowing them to learn whenever they want. Keep in mind that there are many very good quality cheap electric guitars available online or even local music stores in your area. Purchasing a kids guitar and guitar lessons will likely be well worth the investment for you and your child.
Whether you kid wants to be Hannah Montana or one of the Jonas Brothers, it is important to honor their passion while also encouraging individual creativity. My Sarah “knows” she will be the next Hannah Montana and simply “must” have an electric guitar for Christmas so she can begin her budding career. As a very “hip” mom I guess I will be searching for the “right” childrens electric guitar for my little starlet. In the limited research that I’ve done already, I see many appropriate affordable and fun childrens electric guitars.
So now I am debating whether or not to actually get her a Hannah Montana kids electric guitar or get her one of the many very cute “girls” kids guitars! I actually think this is a fun little venture and can hardly wait to put this all together for Sarah! My older son really enjoys playing bass guitar and I look forward to seeing them share their love of music together! Merry Christmas everyone!
Our daughter Kendra has been playing acoustic guitar for several years. We admire her commitment to this hobby and now see how serious she is about learning to play her childrens acoustic guitar as skillfully as she can. We will be starting acoustic guitar lessons for Kendra in the near future and she is so happy about this and glad that we see her budding talent. Kendra loves life and gives her all to anything she tries and we are glad to support her in any way that we can.
We have great kids and we really believe that supporting their interests shows them that they are important and that we believe in them! I am a great believer in getting kids started in hobbies like playing kids instruments such as kids guitars because kids develop many skills that are important and necessary later in life.
Although I was a rebellious youth once in my own right, it wasn’t until having a son of my own that I realized how hard intergenerational communication can be. My old man had specific ideas about what was best for me; he wanted me to continue in the family trade as a welder. I had other plans, of course, and we resolved over time that I would be going to college to study medicine.
My son is barely 12 years old and he’s dead set on becoming a musician. Normally I would dismiss the idea as a flight of fancy – just a pipe dream like that of so many other children. But then he told me about how he doesn’t care about the fame or the fortune. He’s in it for the pure joy of playing the childrens guitar. It surprised me that he had already thought about becoming a studio musician or just touring around the country with friends. Although he might change his mind about his future career, his arguments are fairly convincing.
Every year my husband and I try and come up with a “special” Christmas gift for each and every one of our children. We like to have at least one gift that when opened garners a genuine “thank you so much!” facial expression. We are getting our daughter Becky a series of horseback riding lessons, our middle son Tom, his own golf clubs, and Brian our youngest a childrens electric guitar! Yes I think Santa will have a lot of “goodies” on his sleigh this year!
I was telling my girlfriend Sally about my ideas and she about fell off her seat when she heard what we are getting for Brian. She says that now she is looking at kids guitars as the perfect gift for her son. I must admit how much fun it was to look at all the guitars for kids that are available . I also bought some learn to play guitar instruction books for Brian. Yes I think it will be a Merry Christmas for all!
As the saying goes, someone’s trash is another one’s treasure. Nothing could hold more truth than this statement about our family. My son Jacob seems to most to be the perfect child. He gets good grades, is popular in school and is a star athlete. He has never had a strong interest in the arts. Genevieve is somewhat shy and awkward around others. She struggles to be a good student and is a HUGE fan of the arts and you will probably never find Genevieve on a sports team. Jacob and Genevieve are SO different that it is very difficult for them to find common ground. As a parent it hasn’t always been easy to convince either one that their sibling does have legitimate hobbies and interests.
As we get closer to Christmas, I again will be shopping for very different Christmas gifts for my family. Jacob will want more games for his Xbox and Gen will want things that will help her “budding” music career. She loves country music and has let me know that she would like acoustic guitar lessons and wants me to buy her a kids acoustic guitar. So I will begin pricing some quality kids guitars! I guess as a parent having well adjusted, happy kids is the best you can hope for!
