My Rockin Five Year Old!!

My son has been a musical enthusiast ever since the day he was born.  He seemed to bang on the side of his crib in a succinct rhythm as a toddler and then as he got older he would tap the table or anything he could find. We’d be in a store and he’s start banging on the counter or banging in the car on the way to the store, he was just out of control!  When he turned five I knew what we had to get him for his birthday, a kids electric guitar!  My girlfriend was in immediate agreement!  We had fun looking at all the childrens guitars available online!

My son’s birthday was a smashing success.  To say that he LOVES this particular kids guitar is quite an understatement and if it were up to him he would play morning, noon and night!   We want to support his interests and I don’t know if being a musician is his future but I am glad that he is enjoying it so much right now!

My daughter has been a musical enthusiast before she could talk.  She would bang on the side of her crib in a very succinct rhythm as a toddler and then as she got older would tap the table and make an attempt to strum a book or a magazine or even a tennis racquet!  When she turned seven I knew what we had to get her for his birthday, a kids electric guitar!  My husband,  (having witnessed her musical ability since birth), was in immediate agreement!  We had fun looking at all the  guitars for children available online!

My daughter’s birthday was quite a success. She is in heaven andLOVES this particular kids guitar and would play morning, noon and night if we let her!  We want to support her interests and I don’t know if being a musician is her future per se but I am glad that she is enjoying it so much right now!

Letting Your Kids Be Kids!!!

I like to think that I am a good father and would do just about anything for my kids.  I guess you could say that as far as my kids go, I’m in it for the long haul.  I have been my kid’s greatest supporter and even their greatest fan!   My oldest daughter loves horses and wants to spend most of her time horseback riding and while my wife and I are sometimes worried that  she will get hurt, we are so delighted by the fact that she has something that she is so passionate about!  Now my middle son says that he wants to be a rocker and believes that he has what it takes to make it in the ‘big time”.  I hope so but as a parent you want to encourage your kids while also giving them a dose of reality, not always such an easy task.

My wife and I have decided however that we are going to support our son and are now doing a search for electric guitars for kids.   His birthday is on November 15th so I think we will have enough time to find a kids electric guitar perfectly suited for him.  We will insist that on the way to this ‘Rock God’ status that he intends to obtain, he must do his homework and not drop out of school.  We also want him to continue playing sports and live a well balanced life.  But hey he’s just a kid, let him have fun and enjoy life before he has to grow up and face all the responsibilties of life!!

With a large family birthdays come up sooner than you think.  We just celebrated our daughter’s 18th birthday.  We had a lot of fun and we got her a new laptop for college as she is a freshman this year.  It has been as adjustment to have her away at college, (not to mention tight on the purse strings). Our younger daughter will turn seven next month and says that more than anything in this whole wide world, she simply MUST have a kids electric guitar!!  My very frugal husband said “no way” a guitar is simply out of the question.  I however feel that I can refute some of his complaints, (i.e. cost).  After looking online yesterday I found some discount childrens guitars that I think our aspiring young rocker may love!

My husband is still not totally onboard but I think he will come around.  If a kids guitar will make her happy than I think we should support her and I know in the long run my husband will agree.  Where there’s a will there’s a way!!

A Kids Electric Guitar, What A Great Gift!!

I have seen few kids as happy as my son to receive a guitar for his fifth birthday!!  We got him a kids electric guitar for his birthday last month after months of him telling us over and over that he had to have one for his birthday.  We had given him the good news last month that we would get him a kids electric guitar for his birthday and told him that he could even help us pick it out.  I must admit that it was fun looking at all the different kinds of childrens electric guitars.  Low and behold  we found one that we all agreed on boy is it cute!

So now he plays and plays and plays and then plays some more!!  For the most part I am glad to see him play except for the noise which can be a bit much at times.  We just recently got a ¾  kids guitar case so we can protect this precious little guitar.  We are glad to see our son so happy and know that he will feel even more a part of the family as his brother has played  the drums in his high school band and now wants to start his own band with a couple of friends,  and his sister plays the piano and the flute.  Who knows, maybe one day they will all perform together!

Forming Her Own Little Band!!

We have a wonderfully talented daughter who just informed us that she now wants to play amateur drums in addition to her repertoire of other instruments.  She began singing in the Cherub Choir at a young age and would pick up any object our home and pretend to play the guitar like her oldest brother.  Last year we bought her a really cute kids electric guitar!   Before we knew it she began to form her own little band with some other neighborhood kids.  Now at the age of 8 we will begin to look for a kids drumset to complete this neighborhood band.

My wife is all for it and tells me that if it is what she really wants than we should go for it!   I tend to do most of the shopping for our kids’ birthdays so I must now select a childrens drumset so we can get a good one in time for her birthday!  Who knows maybe we’ll be coming to watch  her on tour soon!

They’re Only Young Once!

Your kids are only young once and it just seems like they grow up before you can even turn around!  Where did the time go?  Was it just yesterday that we took the training wheels off my now seventeen year old daughter’s bicycle?   Now more than ever my husband and I seem to want to relish the growing years of our six year old daughter before she loses that all too precious childlike joy and innocence!  Our daughter just turned six on September 5th and before her birthday she informed us that a kids electric guitar would make her a very happy little girl on her birthday!.  My husband and I weren’t sure quite where to find the best quality as well as affordable  childrens electric guitars.  The internet as always proved to be quite a help to us.  We finally both agreed on a panda shaped guitar that we knew our daughter would just love!!

The day of her birthday arrived and presenting our daughter with this beginner guitar proved to be even more fun than originally anticipated!  I don’t think I have ever seen someone more excited in my life and believe me her joy is also OUR joy!  We can tolerate the noise because it just seems to make her SO happy!  When she gets a little older should she still be interested in guitar, (and all indications make it appear that she will be), we will have her take guitar lessons.  My very best to everyone, Happy fall and Happy Halloween!

C’est La Vie!!

My loving mother wants to spoil her grandchildren and she knows her youngest grandaughter has a special birthday coming up, (after all it’s not every day that a girl gets to face a new decade and turn ten years old!)  My mother says that more than anything she wants to get something that her granddaughter really wants for her birthday.  Since my father died three years ago her focus has been even more on the expected task of “spoiling the grandchildren”.  We told her the other day that what our daughter wants the very most of all is a ‘really cool’ beginner electric guitar!   Her initial reaction was, “I’m not going to get a crazy guitar for any granddaughter that isn’t very feminine.”  However when I spoke to her today she says that if we pick out the guitar we think our daughter will like, then he will gladly pay for it!

Now my husband and I have the fortunate task of picking out the best kids electric guitar we can find.  Since our older son has also played amateur guitar he has already given us some suggestions.  I think this will be fun and as a family we can make this a project that we work on together.  If only we could all be turning ten years old again.  Yes it does appear to be true that youth is wasted on the youth! I guess c’est la vie!

Surviving The Changing Identities Of Childhood and Adolescence!

What can a parent do?  One day our daughter wants to be an actress, another day a ballerina, another day a race car driver, (over my dead body)!!!  I know that all kids have their whims and trying different activities is part of growing up and learning who they are as individuals but as parents, it’s hard to know sometimes when to push and when to let go.  As of late however, our darling daughter has expressed interest in becoming a musician, (mainly a guitar player in a rock band)!!!!  She has grown up watching her cousin play bass guitar in a local rock band and I really believe that Jennifer wants to follow in her cousin’s footsteps!  Jennifer does love her cousin and has always looked up to him! Throughout the years she enjoyed playing on his guitar while receiving instruction from him.

So as the holiday season is approaching I am giving serious consideration to purchasing a quality kids electric guitar for my daughter.  I have a lot of  support from my wife in this venture!  I recently became aware that there is truly a market for childrens guitars and I am hoping to find one that is a good fit for us.  Stay tuned as I search for the perfect childrens guitar!

For The Love Of Music!!!

I have the happiest kid on the block right now since that fateful day in July when we bought him a kids electric guitar for his birthday!   After months and months of cajoling from him we finally gave him the good news that we would get him a beginner electric guitar for his birthday and told him that he could help pick it out!  I must admit that it was fun looking at all the different kinds of kids guitars available  Much to our surprise we found one that we all agreed on and that doesn’t usually happen!

So now he plays and plays and plays and then plays some more!!! I am glad about this except that the noise can be a bit much at times.  We just recently got a ¾ guitar case so we can protect this precious guitar that we invested so much in!  There also seem to be quite an array of guitar cases for kids.  We are glad to see our son so happy and know that he will feel even more a part of the family as his brother plays the drums and his sister plays the violin and also sings in choir.  Who knows, maybe we will even start our own family band!
