Counting Our Blessings As Parents

I have been doing an extensive search for cheap electric guitars.  You see my son who just began playing in a local band with his friends needs a new guitar.  He knows what he wants and we are trying to find it for him but it has to be in our price range.  We try to support our kids but we can’t always get everything they want.  We need to teach them the value of money as well as the fact that they need to work hard for it.

Our son has had a love of guitars before he could even say the word “guitar”.    As a toddler we bought him a toy guitar.  When he reached the age of eight, we bought him a kids electric guitar for his birthday and believe me we more than got what we paid for, he practically wore the thing out!!  We are happy to support him as he is a pretty good student and for the most part has done very well in school.  He has been mowing the lawn this summer and this money will go toward the new amateur guitar.  Parenting is never easy but overall we feel we can count our blessings!

All You Need Is Love!

My daughter is a great kid and we have loved being her parents despite all the difficulties “parenthood” can bring.  You see our daughter has had a lot of challenges and difficulties that have at times have lead her down a rocky road.  She has dealt with learning disabilities in both math and reading requiring special accommodations at school and a lot of tutoring.  At the age of eight she was diagnosed with ADHD and we have spent A LOT of time with therapists and behavior specialists to try and give her structure and teach her behavior modification.  It has been very trying but as parents we delight in her growth and progress and because of all of the struggles, her progress means that much more to us!

When our daughter was eight years old we bought her a kids electric guitar at the recommendation of one of her trusted therapists who encouraged us to have her learn to play an instrument.  It was a wonderful suggestion as it not only taught her a skill but also helped to teach her the values of patience and the feeling of satisfaction of having learned to play a new song!  Now as she enters the pre-teens, she is asking us for an amateur guitar, since she has outgrown the 31 inch guitar we bought her five years ago.  I think it is a very valid request and we will look for a very good quality beginner guitar.  We are in it for the LONG haul and no matter what we will do whatever it takes to enhance the quality of her life and therefore the quality of our family’s life.  God bless!

Being A Part Of His Life!

My husband and I have had a lot of joy watching our son grow up.  We both feel that music will be his thing.  He LOVES to sing and pretend to play “air” guitar.  For my husband and I there was little question of what to get him for his eighth birthday.  We decided that a “perfect” gift would be a kids electric guitar!  I think my husband and I had just as much fun looking at various kids electric guitars as our son will have playing one in the very near future!

We had difficulty conceiving our son and were SO delighted when we finally got pregnant!  Now we don’t want to miss any stage of our son’s life!  Don’t get me wrong, parenting isn’t always easy, but we love creating all these wonderful memories!  I think it will be loads of fun watching our son “jam” on his childrens electric guitar and singing his little heart out!

If it weren’t for my Family!

When I was growing up or rather when my mother was growing up we would have never believed that a kid could get a childrens electric guitar for his birthday that was affordable and have so many options from which to choose!  I guess when it’s all said and done kids don’t fundamentally change on the times in which they grow up do.  My parents bought my son a kids electric guitar for his eighth birthday and you never saw a happier kid.  My mother had no clue where to shop for a childrens guitar so I helped her out by looking online.  My how the times change from generation to generation!

As we approach the 4th of July weekend, my son has guaranteed us that we will be blessed as he will serenade us at the family picnic.  I’m sure mom will love this!  Actually my parents and siblings are wonderful to my kids and will bend over backwards to see them happy!  While life hasn’t always been easy, I really need to count my blessings!  If it weren’t for the love of family I don’t know what I’d do! Happy Independence Day everyone!

Ah…The Joys of Fatherhood!

Whoever said that being a father would be easy?  I guess I knew it would be hard but I couldn’t really picture just how hard until I got there.  Not only is it difficult financially to support a family of five people but to be on top of all the medical and emotional issues of your children AINT EASY!  My wife works full time as do I and she spends hours outside of work helping our middle son, (who has learning disabilities and suffers from A.D.D.) helping him with his homework.  Now that it’s summer, I’m glad she has a break!  I help out when I can but it’s hard with such a busy schedule.

Our daughter will turn eight on July 20th and more than anything she says that she wants a kids electric guitar!  I must say, I really was not expecting this!  Even though I too love guitar and have been playing for years, I am no expert when it comes to electric guitars for kids!  I will have to do some research on this one.   The internet makes it so much easier to find you looking for and so I will begin searching for kids electric guitars.  Hopefully I will find something in our price range.   Hey, I just take one day at a time as each day brings a new challenge, that’s the only way to look at it for me!

S t r e t c h i n g That Dollar!

Summer is here again and for our family that means another batch of birthdays.  As luck would have it, all of my three children have birthdays over the summer.  My daughter has a birthday is July and both of my sons have birthdays is August.  I try to save up for this time of year but it is hard when you are on a tight budget.  My husband has been out of work for two years now and still can’t find a job so we have been supporting the entire family on my salary.  My husband does get some unemployment but it isn’t much.  Like so many Americans we try to make a dollar stretch as far as we can.

Our illustrious and musically gifted daughter says that she wants an electric guitar for her birthday in the worst way!  She says that if we get her a guitar for her birthday we don’t have to get her any Christmas gifts, WOW!  This kid is really serious.  Of course when Christmas rolls around, we will get her something.  I wasn’t so sure about spending money on an electric guitar but my husband says that because she is only ten and small for her age we could get her a kids electric guitar which would be a lot cheaper.  Ok, now you’re talking.  Thank God for the internet because after searching for cheap kids guitars, I see that we really do have more good quality childrens electric guitars to choose from than I originally thought.  My daughter will be happy to know that not only will she”score” on her birthday but Christmas isn’t looking too bad either!

Choosing The Right Sized Kids Electric Guitar

Making the decision to allow your child to learn to play electric guitar can be just as fun for you as it can be for them! Part of this fun is shopping for the guitar!  There is only one real difference between children’s electric guitars and electric guitars for adults and that is the size of the instrument.  Your child’s age and build will determine which size children’s electric guitar you purchase for them.  Children who are age seven and younger would be best suited for a ½ size guitar. Whereas children aged eight years to about eleven years are better off playing the three quarter sized guitar. In most cases once a child has reached the age of eleven they should then be able to use a full size electric guitar without any problems.  Guitar cases for children also are available to fit both the ½ size and3/4 size guitars

It is important that you take your time when selecting the right children’s electric guitar for your child.  You need to make sure that you select the right size on because if it is too big your child might find it too difficult to handle and won’t be as willing to develop their electric guitar playing skills. Remember they need to be able to handle the guitar in a way that won’t be placing any strain on their body.   Best of luck and have fun!!

Learning To Live In The Moment!

It’s that time of year again.  Where does the time go?  A year comes a year goes and before you know it another child is ready to leave the nest.  How can it be that our youngest son has another birthday and  is already turning five.  He says that this year what he wants the very most is a childrens electric guitar!  Yes at the ripe old age of five he wants an electric guitar for his birthday!  My husband says that it’s not really an electric guitar but a kids electric guitar and let him have fun with it.  I know he’s right but it just seems like they grow up too fast these days.

This coming school year our daughter will be going off to college and I already am feeling the loss of the first child leaving the nest.  Sometimes it’s like the song says “If I could take time in a bottle”, I’d slow  the time down and spend more days  with my kids.  But it is important to learn to live in the moment and not lament the past or worry about the future.  So I will enjoy every moment of my son “rocking out” on his new kids guitar!

The Future Looks Bright!

My little brother wants to do everything I do.  For the most part I like this but sometimes it can really get on my nerves. I have been playing electric guitar now for several years and have been trying to get a band together with a couple of my buddies.  So now my little bro wants a cool guitar like mine.  First of all, at the age of six he is too young to play a full sized guitar.  With the help of my parents I am going to look for a childrens electric guitar.

My brother is a sweet kid and I think he will love playing the guitar!  I think it’s way cool that he’ll start playing with a kids electric guitar.  I wish I had done the same.  I am so psyched to think that one day me and the little bro could be be jamming together in some really hot band!   I hope to get some gigs going this summer with my friends and we’ll take it from there!  The future looks great!

Parenthood, A Never Ending Journey!

I must admit that the gift we bought this year for our daughter really turned out to be a bigger success than I had anticipated.  For months she had been begging us to get her an electric guitar and we weren’t sure it if she would really play it once we purchased it or we could really afford it.  I’m glad to report that we were wrong.  We found her a kids guitar that couldn’t have been a better fit if we’d tried.  Not only does she want to play morning, noon and night but the cost was much more affordable than we thought.  If anything now we can use this cute little kids electric guitar as leverage to get her to do less attractive activities, (like completing homework and chores).

Raising children is a never ending journey and you never know what’s around the next corner.  It is important to keep an open mind but provide stability at the same time.  We’re in it for the long haul and wait with anticipation and suspense to see what we’ll happen next.  In the end there’s no place I’d rather be!
