Kids attention spans in general don’t last too long and as a parent you don’t want to spend too much money on a particular hobby because they could change their minds and be into something completely different in a matter of just a few weeks. When they are young, (say maybe 5 – 11 years old this is even more so. When my adorable little nine year old son told me that he knows he wants to grow up to be a drummer more than anything, I thought to myself, “You say that now buddy, but twenty years from now you’ll be singing a different tune!” Of course a certain degree of fickleness is normal and to be expected at that age. I was young once, I remember.
And so my search for kids drumsets begins in earnest. I am looking for affordability as well as quality. I know there are some good deals out there. My wife is always telling me that I need to lighten up and enjoy the ride so I will take her advice and try to do just that! Having a kids drumset in our home could be a lot of fun now that I think about it. As long as we can keep the noise to an acceptable level, I’m game!
My little Kenny is a fourth of July baby and is he ever the little firecracker! For the most part we already have gotten him his birthday gifts and just have a few more things to get him. Now he informs us that what he wants MORE THAN ANYTHING is a drum set like his cousin Eddy who he visited last weekend. Basically for most of the weekend we couldn’t get him away from the drum set. So I guess you could say that this shouldn’t have really come as a surprise.
My husband thinks that this is just great and I say that we don’t even consider such a venture especially this close to his birthday unless we can find quite a “deal” that is under $100.00. Because Kenny is only six years old obviously we won’t get him a full sized drum set but rather a childrens drumset, appropriate for his age. I am googling childrens drumsets like a madwoman to see what I can find. This may very well be a late birthday or early Christmas present. I think we have to be careful not to spoil the little wizkid! I hope that we can find a fun little kids drumset for Kenny so he can have a really special birthday as well as a really fun fourth of July, we’ll see!
My youngest daughter is quite the tomboy. She really looks up to her older brother who is an athlete and also plays drums in a local band that is really hot! She seems to want to follow his every move and be like him in every way! She also has embraced his love of music and wants a drum set just like her hero! Because she is only six years old we feel that a kids drumset would be more appropriate. Our son has given us some ideas of where to look for kids drumsets.
Our daughter does have a birthday in July and perhaps we can give her an early birthday present. Our son may be less enthusiastic about giving drum lessons to his baby sister but I know that she would love that! This may be a passing “phase” for our daughter but we are willing to support her interests in any way we can as long as they don’t become too expensive! Hey your kids are only young once, my philosophy is enjoy it while you can!
I love being a father. I love my daughter, she is the “apple” of my eye and I am so glad that she is in my life. A love for a daughter is different than a love for a son but certainly no less special. With my son I feel that we are “kindred spirits’. We seem to have an unspoken understanding of each other even though he is only nine years old. He knows that I like the drums and through the years he has watched me play drums at various venues. I don’t play much anymore but now my son seems to have a natural inclination to play drums and not surprisingly has very good rhythm.
For my son’s tenth birthday I must get him some kids drums! No question about it! I have a lot of contacts to I know I will be able to find something absolutely perfect for him. There are so many cool kids drumsets today that were not available when I was his age. This will be a lot of fun and yet another bonding experience for he and I. The relationships I have with my two children mean the world to me and I am so enjoying the journey. I wouldn’t have it any other way!
My wife and I became parents five years ago when we had our son. Two years later we had a daughter. With kids so young a birthday is a HUGE event and something to look forward to for weeks on end. Those were the days when you looked forward to your birthday! Our kids recently spent time with their 16 year old cousin Kevin. Kevin is a drummer in a band and our son is so taken by him. Ever since our most recent visit, our son says that what he most wants for his birthday is a drum set like Kevin’s.
I am glad that my son looks up to Kevin and I am starting my search for childrens drums. I think this will be a lot of fun and my wife is all for it too as long as he keeps the noise to an acceptable level. It is nice to know that kids drumsets are reasonably priced and should last him several years at least. Kids grow so fast and we are always so busy. I have to make the very most of their childhood years and watching my son play with a childrens drumset is a wonderful part of doing just that!
I have seen my kids through many stages, phases and different periods in their lives. It has been important to support their individuality and let them “wear many hats” on the way to discovering who they really are. My oldest son dreamed of being a rock star and we supported that and he played guitar for years in a band until he finally realized that becoming a doctor and helping people was what he most wanted to do with his life. My daughter dreamed of being a ballerina and loved ballet for many years. Now she teaches ballet and does graphic design, something she enjoys immensely
Our youngest son is five years old. We had him later in life and while we weren’t really prepared for him, we’re delighted to have a youngster in our home again. Our young son has shown many signs indicating that he wants to play the drums. That kid will bang on anything from tables to chairs to whatever is around. He seems to have a natural rhythm when he bangs to songs that play on the radio. When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday he not surprisingly said that he wants a kids drumset! I must say that I am more than happy to oblige. My husband and I have already been looking at kids drumsets online and have several ones picked out that we know our son will love. Being a parent is an ongoing journey and I’m always interested to see where we will end up next. I can’t imagine not being a parent and now I look forward to being a grandparent!
I have been raising my brother’s two kids for the past three years ever since he unexpectedly got cancer and died three years ago. The kids’ mother is not capable of caring for the children and gave up custody six years ago. I have always been super close with my brother and his kids feel like my own. I have never married and do not have my own children so I relish the chance to be a father especially since this is what my brother most wanted ever since he knew he would not survive the cancer. I have officially adopted the children and now have an eight year old son and a six year old daughter.
My daughter will turn seven in a month and I am beginning to prepare for this. I have had a tendency to spoil the kids a bit because they don’t have a mother and because they tragically lost their father several years ago. She knows that I used to play the drums in a band and has been fascinated with my old drumset for the past several years. She says that a kids drumset is all she wants for her birthday. I can’t resist her sweet little face any longer. I have begun looking for kids drumsets online and won’t stop looking until I find the perfect fit! While the kids lives have been far from ideal, I want to take a lemon, ( as the saying goes) and make the best lemonade known to man!
Right now I feel I am in that sandwich generation because I’m not only taking care of my children but my aging parents as well. I don’t mind because in the end I realize that my parents took such good care of me and I know that one day my children will take care of me. It’s just that at times I feel squeezed between these two slices of bread. My father has been struggling with heart disease and my wife and I have been back and forth to various doctors about his condition. We also have been making preparations for son’s seventh birthday who wants to play drums in the worst way just like his older brother Kenny.
We didn’t have much time to plan for our young son’s birthday but it didn’t take too much time to do a search online to find some really cool kids drumsets. By the next day we found the kids drumset we wanted and two days later it arrived! We are keeping this very special childrens drumset at my office until the big day arrives. I admit that I don’t have much time to myself these days and things often get done at the last minute but the most important thing is that they do get done and that we all love each other! You can’t ask for anything more!
So my kid will be six in just a couple of weeks. This is very exciting to everyone in the family but is the most exciting to our young son. He is quite precocious and very ambitious you might say. I see a future doctor, lawyer, businessman and even a musician perhaps. Let’s start with the musician. Our son Eddie like many kids his age wants to bang the drums. He thinks that this is very cool and so do I. I propose to my somewhat less enthusiastic wife that we start looking at amateur drum sets. I know that there are some very affordable and fun kids drumsets.
We however need to get a move on as his birthday will be here very soon. I have already bookmarked some good websites. A buddy of mine bought his son beginner drums and says that for the most part it has been a lot of fun for the whole family. I very much want Eddie to succeed in life but along the way I want him to also have loads of fun. A kids drumset should help that process!
My son has a really special birthday coming up and I want to make it memorable. Yes our son will soon be facing the ripe old age of five! He says that because he is now getting older and will soon be facing the responsibilities and rigors of kindergarten, he thinks he should get a drumset for his birthday just like his older brother. Ok! My wife is a little leery but I think it’s just great! Of course we won’t get him a full size drumset like his brother has. We will instead look for three piece kids drumsets. I think my wife will be thrilled when she sees that a kids drumset is not as expensive as she had envisioned.
I think we should let the kid fulfill his fantasy as every child needs to have time to explore and figure out what really interests him. His older brother will get such a kick out of this and will probably even give his kid brother a few pointers. I think when it’s all said and done our boys will have a pretty “rockin” birthday!
