Finding the ‘right’ gift for your child’s ‘big’ day!!
I am always amazed at what is available for kids today compared to when I was growing up. The only thing that concerns me is that with all of the electronics available today kids are inadvertently encouraged to spend more time indoors. As a parent this can make it more difficult to encourage your child to go outside and get some exercise!
My kid has a big birthday coming up, (hey when you’re turning five it’s quite EXCITING and a BIG DEAL!) He tells us that this year for his birthday he really wants a kids drum set. I think that this would be a wonderful gift as it can also teach him the importance of rhythm and timing. My husband and I will have a ball looking at all the childrens drums available for kids. I think that we will opt for a three piece childrens drum set as that seems like the most appropriate fit for him right now. I think my husband and I are almost as excited as our son for June 5th to arrive!
Give a child a pot, a pan or a wooden spoon and most kids will begin to beat the drum! Some kids are even born with a natural sense of rhythm. You might want to consider buying your child a kids drum set. Kids drums come with different configurations. There are drum sets made for children, they include 3 and 5 piece sets which consist of: cymbals, snare and bass drums and tom toms.
A kid’s drum set is a great investment that can enhance your child’s creativity. Someday your child might pursue music as their career and learning the basics as a child can build a great foundation. With every beat of the drum, your kid can release pent up energy. Learning to play drums allows your child to concentrate, develop their skills and focus on becoming better. Posture is ever so important for many reasons even before a drummer decides to play the drums. Why you ask? Quality drumming is dependent upon good posture. Children may have already heard their parents bark at them to ‘sit up straight’ and not ‘shrug their shoulders’. Parents are often happy with the variety of kids drum sets available. If a drummer plays the drums with a little bit of a slouch, the rhythm and timing will be greatly affected not to mention harm to the lower back over the time.
Believe it or not, the dinner table is the perfect place to practice this critical drumming technique. Before a child receives a kids drum set, tell her to keep her back straight and pretend that her knife and fork are her drum sticks. Just make the fine bone china off limits. You can also encourage her to watch drummers in music videos and take her to stage performances because they almost always demonstrate perfect posture.
As a musician for many years I LOVE being able to share my interest with all my nieces and nephews. Through the years family members have actually accompanied me on stage from time to time. I have always loved to sing. I also play the acoustic and electric guitar as well as the mandolin. It has been great to have family come and see me their support means more to me than they will ever know.
I am really trying to encourage my nephew,( who I believe is a “budding” musician with a bright future ahead of him), to begin learning to play drums. He is a drummer at heart and this is very apparent to me. Christmas is just about here and I have already purchased a kids drum set for him! I began searching for childrens drumsets in earnest several weeks ago and was overall pretty pleased with the selection that was available. So my fantasy is to have my nephew join me on stage one day!
My mother has spoiled my kids for as long as I can remember and while I am delighted to see this, I am a little envious because I wish that she had treated my siblings and I half as well. She is well aware of all my children’s birthdays and because she knows that I am a single parent wants to dote on my kids even more. Christmas is always a HUGE production and this year will be no different! She knows that my very lovely young daughter wants nothing more this Christmas than to be able play the drums with her very own drum set! I don’t want my mom to spend too much money and so I told her that a childrens drum set would be just fine
Mom wants to buy a kids drum set that is of good quality and will last. I have been looking online at drums for kids. My daughter will be thrilled beyond belief! I only wish that when I was my daughter’s age and my mother showed half this much enthusiasm when I was beginning a new hobby. Anyway, she and I both tend to live vicariously through my kids and are eager to see all of their faces on Christmas morning!!
Juggling My Job As Santa With The Responsibilities Of Christmas!!!
My wife and I have literally become “professional jugglers” like most parents have. We feel forced as many of you do to have that “multi-tasking thing” down! Part of our juggling act this holiday season is to host Thanksgiving for our large family consisting of about 20 people, go on a Christmas cruise the first week in December with my wife children and her parents, host an office Christmas party for my wife, and help my wife buy gifts for her large family and mine! My wife usually does most of the planning and I basically do whatever she tells me on my never ending ‘honey do’ list. One of my tasks, she says is to choose a kids drum set to give to our son on Christmas day. I actually like this assignment and will begin looking at drums for children on line. I do believe that a childrens drum set will thrill our son BEYOND belief!
A perusal of some local music stores and a search online should give me a lot to choose from regarding kids drum sets. I’m sure that on Christmas morning our family will (like it or not) get to hear our son’s enthusiastic first beat of the drum! I know I can’t wait!!
Our very adorable nine year old daughter is SO excited about her tenth birthday that is coming up on the twentieth of November. She really wants to play the drums in the worst way and my husband and I believe that it would be a great idea to get her a kids drum set. My sister got her son a childrens drum set two years ago and it went over so well that I have no problem getting one for my daughter. I will start bookmarking sites that include childrens drum sets that pique the interest of both my wife and myself. We need to act soon as her birthday will be here before we know it!!
I am excited to watch my kids grow and nothing makes me happier than to see them so happy! I am probably just as excited as my daughter is for his birthday to come! They’re only young once and I don’t want to miss a minute! It is very fun to live vicariously through my kids and I am enjoying this period in my life.
So what will our daughter get for her birthday this year? I know my daughter can’t wait to turn eight! She has told me that the only thing she wants for her birthday this year more than anything else in “the whole wide world” is a kids drum set! I thought, “Oh boy!” Where am I going to start looking for childrens drum sets? Of course as any parent knows the internet is a wonderful resource for just about anything.
My wife doesn’t think getting drums for our daughter is such a big deal. Maybe she is right, since we will only be getting a childrens drum set we can probably find a good one that is pretty affordable. Our friends are musicians and I know they can probably get us a good deal. I bet there are some pretty cute drums for children that our daughter will really like. Come November 3rd, I think we will have one happy child in our home!!
My son has a really special birthday coming up in just two weeks. My son will soon be facing the ripe old age of six! He told his grandmother, (my mother who lives with us) and I that because he is now getting older and is facing the responsibilities and rigors of going to school all day long since he is in the first grade, he feels he should get a kids drum set for his birthday!! Ok! My mother is a bit apprehensive but I think it’s just great! Of course we won’t get him a full size drum set like his older brother has. We will instead look for three piece kids drum sets. I think my frugal mother will be thrilled when she sees that kids drumsets are not as expensive as she is thinking!
I think we should let the kid fulfill his fantasy as every child needs to have time to explore and figure out what really interests him. I believe that his older brother will get such a kick out of this and will probably even give his little brother a few pointers. I think when it’s all said and done our boys will enjoy some real bonding time ‘rockin’ out together!
Finding Your Passion Makes Life’s Journey A Little Easier!!
My very dear son will turn fifteen in October and I want to get him what he wants the very most, a beginner electric guitar! He has shown some musical ability from an early age and we supported him when he wanted to play the drums at the age of seven. We bought him a kids drum set and he literally beat the thing to death!! Now I want to support his love of guitar and begin looking at amateur guitars.
Instead of surprising my son, I will take him with me to pick out the amateur guitar he really wants! He is looking forward to this and it may take several outings to find the beginner guitar that we want the most. My goal is to help my kids find their passion because life is hard enough but the journey is made easier if you can do things you genuinely enjoy along the way!
