I am a so glad that my daughter has decided to pursue her interest of playing guitar. I have loved music and have played electric/acoustic guitar for years and I know the joy it has brought me. She loves it when I bring out the guitar and I decided that this Christmas I would get her a beginner acoustic guitar. She had no idea that we had taken a chance and purchased this for her. Christmas morning she was so excited that she literally jumped up and danced all around the house, so excited!
On Christmas evening my daughter and I got to “jam” together and she informed that we would tour the world playing together! Even though Mom would like to play teacher, we will find a competent instructor to teach her proper technique. Now if she would just show this much enthusiasm for other things, like cleaning her room, we’d be in business!
Playing the guitar has been a wonderful hobby and pastime for many people over the years. Nowhere is this more true than in our family. My husband has played acoustic and electric guitar for most of his life. Our eldest son has also experienced the joy of electric/acoustic guitar playing since the age of 10 and now accompanies his father on some gigs at local coffee houses, churches and even some popular watering holes. Now Jake, our middle son wants to get into the act. My husband thinks a beginner guitar would be perfect for Jake. I must admit this makes me happy too, as long as it’s what Jake really wants.
My husband just informed last night that he has looked at some very good amateur guitars at a local music store that look like they were made for Jake. He is also going to do a price comparison online. I do believe that Jake will be thrilled as Christmas is around the corner and his birthday is the following month. Now if Mom can find an instrument she TOO may join the family band!
I don’t know anyone who loves music more than I do. Music adds such spice to life that I want to share this joy with anyone who is willing and able. There has been no doubt what type of gifts I am getting my son this year for Christmas. He already has an electric/acoustic guitar but I feel he needs more instruction to learn different types of music and good playing habits. I have just purchased for him some guitar lesson videos. I think he will really enjoy this and thank me for it later.
As a family we have really bonded and become close over our musical instruments. Our kids have started young and I have been amazed at the wonderful quality kids instruments that are available. We also bought our youngest son a kids drum set last year and it has held up extremely well given all the time our son has devoted to it. After all what would life be without the sound of music!
