While there are many different activities that your child can become involved with and as a parent you should encourage them to pursue their passion, music is wonderful pursuit to consider. And if your child is interested in playing an instrument in the band or orchestra, you can put a lot of faith behind this decision because there are many benefits to receiving a musical education. For one children learning to play a guitar or any other instrument often achieve a real sense of accomplishment. Parents might consider electric guitars for kids as they are relatively easy to learn, made for children, and kids love them! When they continue to grow and learn as a musician they’re sure to feel good about themselves.
Playing musical instruments also teaches children a sense of discipline. Again, learning an instrument is hard, and reaching any level of success is dependent upon dedication and discipline. There are also stress relieving qualities to playing an instrument, and this can be particularly helpful when your child reaches adolescence. And lastly, there have been many studies that indicate music helps young brains develop and thrive. In today’s tough economic times, many states are forced to make budget cuts, and school budgets are unfortunately part of those cuts. One of the first programs that are often cut in schools is the music program. Most people believe music education as expendable and not important compared to math, science, history and English, but the benefits of music education are more valuable than most people realize. Studies show multiple benefit of music education for children, (i.e. early musical training helps develop brain areas involved in language and reasoning and helps develop spatial intelligence). Studies also show that kids who study the arts do better on standardized tests, like the SAT, and achieve higher grades in high school overall.
If your child’s music program has been cut or reduced and they don’t have an opportunity to learn how to play an instrument in school, you will have to be proactive in order to ensure that your child still gets a musical education. You might decide to invest in a fun instrument that’s easy to learn how to play, like a guitar. There are plenty of guitars for children available to fit your child’s needs such as kids acoustic guitars and even electric guitars for kids. Kids can learn from group or individual instruction or can take lessons online. Your child will delight in his or her ability to play music on the guitar, and will reap the benefits of a musical education that they might not have access to at school.

For many years, children have had a fascination with the guitar. Along with the piano, the guitar is one of the instruments used most when a soloist performs. The radio as well as music videos are filled with guitar music. People appreciate different aspects of the guitar from the pageantry to it’s crisp melodic tone. As parents we want to help children reap the many benefits of learning to play this wonderful instrument.
In truth, the full potential of kids guitars can only be unlocked when they are played with some form of accompaniment. In today’s times, children and parents will have to make a choice between acoustic guitars for kids and electric guitars for kids. The Rolling Stones didn’t just stumble upon their talent and success overnight; rather, they spent tens of thousands of hours honing their act. If kids don’t have the luxury of strumming their guitar alongside a drummer, ( as many often don’t) a metronome is a very good alternative. It will keep the child’s playing on track and give him a benchmark for timing purposes which is extremely important.
Music is a wonderful form of communication and a great way to say things that can’t be said in normal conversation. In fact, the language of music can transcend generation after generation. Therefore exposing children to music at an early age can be quite beneficial.
It would be great to encourage kids to love what music has to offer. This can be accomplished taking a child to music lessons and by exposing them to musical venues. By taking children to music lessons, kids can learn to play various instruments and discover which instruments they like. Children can choose piano, violin, clarinet or drums. You might even consider the electric guitar, (an instrument that has become more popular with children). One can find electric guitars for kids online and often there are many deals out there so you don’t have to spend lots of money on your child’s first instrument!
My daughter wants a guitar for her birthday no matter what! She says that if I can only get her one gift that wouldn’t be very good but if it has to ONLY one gift it MUST be an electric guitar! Woa!! In my mind, at the ripe old age of seven, how could she be so decisive and what happened to being satisfied with a Barbie doll or a new bicycle?
Do they even make electric guitars for kids? Yeah, I guess they do. Yeah, I know they do! So it’s off to the “net” I go in search of kids electric guitars! I am pretty impressed with what I see and I think I can find a little ‘gem’ for my budding ‘Rock Goddess’ I can’t expect my daughter to live the life I did at her age, these are different times. I just have to ‘roll’ and/or ‘rock and roll’ with it, after all she is a really good kid!
My extremely cool and ultra sweet daughter says that she wants an electric guitar in the worst way. After a very persuasive argument she has actually convinced me that a kids guitar would be a perfect gift for her! I am glad she is enthusiastic and I just hope that those ‘cool’ kid guitars are in our price range. My daughter assures me that they are because she has a friend who got one for Christmas and her father is even out of work right now. I must admit that she is probably right so I guess I’m game.
I am pretty impressed with the different models of electric guitars for kids available. Her birthday is January 30th and so I guess now is as good a time as any to get him this precious gift. I must admit that I begged my folks for a guitar when I was her age but my frugal parents made me wait until I was much older. Times sure have changed!
When purchasing your child’s very first guitar there are many things to consider. One of the first things to consider is the need to make sure that the instrument is the correct size for your child. Many models are too big for children and will inhibit their ability to reach the proper tabs and fingerings. For instance there are many electric guitars for kids available today for children of all sizes.
The next thing to consider is price. Since this is your child’s first instrument, it is probably wise to invest in discount kids guitars so that they have something to experiment with and see if they like. Just because the price isn’t high doesn’t mean that you have to skimp on quality; there are many excellent models available that don’t carry an excessive price tag.

My mom bought me my first guitar when I was only seven years old and it was an acoustic guitar. As much as I love playing on an acoustic NOW, as a youngster all I wanted to do was ‘rock out!’ As a kid who idolized Eddie Van Halen and Slash, I wanted to play a flying-V, which is something that you couldn’t get for kids back then. I didn’t know what I was missing
Now, parents have an easier time finding electric guitars for kids, as many guitar companies are expanding their reputations to include children’s lines. While acoustics are good starts, if you have a kid who definitely wanst to “rock”, I would recommend an electric. It’s a little loud, but hey, that’s what earplugs are for, mom and dad. Also, electrics just sound better. What a great Christmas gift for your kid this year!!
I like to think that I am a good father and would do just about anything for my kids. I guess you could say that as far as my kids go, I’m in it for the long haul. I have been my kid’s greatest supporter and even their greatest fan! My oldest daughter loves horses and wants to spend most of her time horseback riding and while my wife and I are sometimes worried that she will get hurt, we are so delighted by the fact that she has something that she is so passionate about! Now my middle son says that he wants to be a rocker and believes that he has what it takes to make it in the ‘big time”. I hope so but as a parent you want to encourage your kids while also giving them a dose of reality, not always such an easy task.
My wife and I have decided however that we are going to support our son and are now doing a search for electric guitars for kids. His birthday is on November 15th so I think we will have enough time to find a kids electric guitar perfectly suited for him. We will insist that on the way to this ‘Rock God’ status that he intends to obtain, he must do his homework and not drop out of school. We also want him to continue playing sports and live a well balanced life. But hey he’s just a kid, let him have fun and enjoy life before he has to grow up and face all the responsibilties of life!!
All my life I have dreamed of being a parent and I am quite thrilled with the children that I got, (minus a few little quirks here and there oh like having to push the kids to do their homework and to keep their bedrooms from resembling a landfill!) Our nine year old son told us about three months ago that he was destined toward rock star royalty. I said “Oh really? Will you remember us when you’re rich and famous?” We figured we better get a jump start on our aspiring “Rock God’s” career. With much ado, we decided to look at electric guitars for kids and before we knew it we found the perfect childrens electric guitar! So this past Christmas we gave our eager son a ‘really cool’ kids guitar, what a hit! We couldn’t have been more on the money!! We have assured him that there are some rock stars who do manage to graduate from high school.
We have managed to have our son participate in after school activities including boy scouts. We actually have asked our neighbor who has been playing electric guitar for several years to give our son some lessons. Our kids are only young once so I want to appreciate any opportunity when it arises! I can hardly wait to see what the future holds!
