My nephew will do anything pretty much to stand out in a crowd it seems. As a toddler at daycare he managed to get a lot of the attention. If another kid cried he would cry louder and longer. If another child became upset and started to scream, he would scream at the tops of his lungs to block the other kid out. Obviously this did not go over well with the other children or the workers at the daycare center. As his aunt and now his full time legal guardian, I have tried to channel all that energy in a more positive direction. This has been augmented with the help of a very competent psychotherapist who has helped me incorporate a very successful behavioral modification program. I am forever thankful!
My nephew will turn nine at the end of the summer and at his age, birthdays are quite a big deal! He has requested on more than one occasion that what he REALLY wants the very most is a childrens electric guitar! While this is not really what I had in mind to get him this year, I have begun to look into it. Childrens electric guitars come in different shapes and sizes are made for very young children and on up through kids in their teens. I certainly don’t have all the money in the world but it seems as though electric guitars for children are in my price range. Now I too am looking forward to my nephew’s birthday!
Our daughter seems to show a wild streak already at the age of eight. She seems to want to run barefoot and climb trees like her older brothers. Yet at the same time she wants to grow her hair long and wear beads like a little flower child. Now she says that she wants to grow up to be a “rocker” says that what she wants more than anything for her birthday is an electric guitar and says that she wants nothing else!
Because she is still a child we will need to get her a childrens electric guitar instead of an adult sized guitar. My husband and I will start looking at electric guitars for children online and at music stores in our community. I guess this could be a lot of fun and my daughter will be SO excited! I can’t wait to see what she will become when she grows up. As long as she’s happy that’s all I care about! I guess time will tell!
The older I get the more reflective I become. Now that I am a father I don’t want to miss any of my kid’s growing up years. I have 4 children and believe me it isn’t always easy but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My son says that he wants an electric guitar like his friend Eddie at school. After doing a little research I discovered that electric guitars for children are available in many different colors, shapes and sizes! I don’t even know where to begin. This ought to be a lot of fun!
I try to be a good father and give my kids what they want within reason and now that my older son sees that I am looking at kids electric guitars he thinks I should also be looking for amateur drum sets. My older son wants to be a drummer in the worst way. Yes I have a family of musicians. Now all I need is a lead singer and I will be all set. I try not to say this too loud because my daughter might just be perfect for this role as she has always been the kids who likes to stand in front of the mirror and use her hairbrush as a microphone! Before you know it we just might be “playin in a travellin band!”
Easter has just come and gone and now my son is having a big birthday. He is feeling quite spry at the ripe old age of nine. We will get him some iTunes and some other things like clothes that he needs for school and the upcoming summer. However what he most wants this year is a kids electric guitar. He knows that I have played acoustic and electric guitar and says that he wants to follow in my footsteps! I am for this but my wife is a bit skeptical. However, I think she will be more agreeable when she sees how affordable childrens electric guitars really are.
Recently my wife’s hours at her job have been cut back to part time and so she is very concerned about money. Someone needs to be frugal but I also think that we can still get our children gifts and live within our means. There are many types of electric guitars for children today that are fun and not too costly! I am looking forward to my son’s birthday especially since he kind of sees himself as a “chip off the old block!” Ah, the joys of parenthood!
I have enjoyed being a parent and I have three children. Our son is living on his own and discovering how hard it can be to pay the bill and make ends meet. Our daughter is in her last year of college and hoping to find a job and an apartment. We still have our youngest son at home who will go off to college next year making us “empty nesters”. Both of our sons seemed to gravitate toward guitar. Our oldest son has played bass guitar for years and still plays in a band. Our youngest son has been playing both electric and acoustic guitar for many years. As a child, we bought him a childrens electric guitar and he has been playing guitar ever since. Now he loves to play and have jam sessions with his friends.
My younger sister has a son who seems to be showing signs of wanting to play guitar too! She called me because she knows that both of my sons play. Because of me she is aware that electric guitars for children do exist. She is looking at a particular kids guitar and wants to know what I think. It sounds to me like she has done her homework and is just looking for my support. I am glad that both of my sons and my nephew share this love of guitar and maybe one day we will see them all perform together. We’ll see!
We just got done buying our daughter Carrie a new beginner acoustic guitar as I mentioned in an earlier post when our older son mentioned that he had worn out his bass guitar and needed a new one. It seems like we have spent quite a lot of money on him. When he was Carrie’s age we did spend time looking at some really fun electric guitars for children. We started him on a giraffe shaped kids electric guitar at the age of six but my how the times have changed!
Because we just bought Carrie a new childrens acoustic guitar our older son will just have to wait and so will his aspirations of playing in the big time! After all he can still use the guitar he has right now. I think it is important as parents to not reinforce the idea to our children that life will serve their every need on a silver platter. I want to please my kids but there have to be boundaries too. Stay tuned for the next chapter!
I am a concerned father and a single parent. I love my children immensely and would do anything to see them smile. It’s been hard at times as my kids don’t have a mother in their lives but we all care enough about each other to see anything through. My daughter Olivia suffers from depression. I believe that she has inherited this from both her mother and I. I have been in my own therapy off and on throughout the years and recently found a good competent therapist for Olivia. At a recent session that included Olivia and myself the therapist recommended that Olivia pursue a hobby as part of her treatment. I have been trying to get Olivia to do this for years but I think she is now more receptive to the idea since her therapist suggested it as well.
Olivia knows that my therapy has often been music as I have played acoustic and electric guitar in various bands and solo acts over the years. I can’t believe we never thought of this before but Olivia also seems to have inherited my interest in the guitar. She just informed me that she would like to play the guitar as a hobby like me. I am thrilled and will begin looking specifically at guitars for children. Olivia says she wants to play the kids electric guitar and I believe she may have a secret fantasy of becoming the next Hannah Montana. So, it looks like I will try to focus on electric guitars for children. Wish me luck!
Growing up, I was lucky to find myself in the center of a musical family. We weren’t exactly the Jackson 5 – or even the Partridge Family, for that matter – but my parents were adamant that each child should learn a musical instrument. The choice was ours as to which instrument we would specialize in, and it was an easy one for me. I wanted to be just like my idols Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page. To me, the electric guitar was like some mystical object handed down from the heavens that only a select few virtuosos could truly play correctly
My musical tastes evolved as I got older, of course, but when my son displayed an interest in playing, I quickly bought him a kids electric guitar. These days we share a special bonding experience, playing classic rock standards together. In order to instill some discipline, I have my son play the rhythm parts while I handle the solos. Guitar music transports us to another place and time; for that, I will always owe the electric guitar my allegiance.
When my son got his first electric guitar, he was immediately filled with glee. He probably imagined himself jamming out some classic rock staples with minimal effort. Then came the first shock – the guitar barely made any sound at all without an amp to go along with it. The second shock took some time to set in. It turned out that playing guitar is relatively easy but mastering the instrument is a lifelong challenge.
We remedied the first problem by purchasing a mini amp that complemented electric guitars for children. Resolving the second issue to hours and hours of practice, during which time I would offer a few tips and teach my son a few new chord progressions every week. He worked diligently to replicate the styles of his favorite guitar players – Duane Allman and Eric Clapton. By the end of the first year, he was playing jazz guitar in the junior high band and loving his newfound passion.
My mom bought me my first guitar when I was seven and it was an acoustic guitar. As much as I love playing on an acoustic NOW, it wasn’t what I expected. As a kid who idolized Eddie Van Halen and Slash, I wanted to play a flying-V, which is something that you couldn’t get kids back then.
Now, parents have an easier time finding an electric guitar for kids, as many guitar companies are expanding their reputations to include children’s lines. While acoustics are good starts, if you have a kid who is definitely going to want to “rock” out, I would recommend an electric. It’s a little loud, but hey, that’s what earplugs are for, mom and dad. Also, electrics just sound better.
