With Christmas only a couple weeks away, my husband and I feel that we are ‘almost’ ready for the big day.  We just decided to get an electric guitar for our son and finally found one that was shipped to us yesterday.  My husband had started searching on line for childrens guitars last week.  We feel really excited about giving this gift as we know he REALLY wants to play guitar!  My husband will play Santa Claus and he absolutely LOVES doing that!  My kids are already counting down the days!

I will be glad when the rush of Christmas is over but I still love to see the joy in my kid’s faces when they receive the gifts that they really want. My daughter will be thrilled beyond belief that she gets jewelry and albums she wants!   A kids guitar, what more could my son ask for?  Yes Santa Claus is coming to town!

My Little Rock Star!!

As a practical mom I want my kids to pick hobbies and interests that they will enjoy and will also serve them later in life.  I am happy that they have chosen musical hobbies like playing flute and saxophone.  I only feel concerned when they talk about making music a career which seems like quite a long shot to me.  Now my youngest daughter says that she WILL be the next Hannah Montana no matter what.  We have decided to honor her request for an electric guitar and after an exhaustive search for beginner childrens guitars.  We finally found a really cute beginner kids guitar that she will be more thrilled than ever to get on Christmas day!

I am happy for my daughter but am hoping and praying that this wish to be a rock star is just one of her passing phases.  I know that I need to be supportive of my children and I guess that if they are TRULY successful and happy in life, then I will support them.  I know we will have a very happy little girl on Christmas morning!

Our son turned nine last month and told us that more than anything, he wanted to play the drums. I can’t complain except that the kids drumset we bought for our son is such a hit that he wants to play the thing morning noon and night!  I am glad that he is so happy and I feel good that my wife and I did our research when we began searching for kids drumsets.  I think we will have to have to do something to curtail the noise so that we can all get some good rest, (ok so I’m exaggerating a bit, but he does play a lot!)

My wife says that she will deal with the situation by insisting that our son stop fighting with his siblings in order to keep on banging those drums, (if that’s the case he’ll never get to play!!)  His playing time must be done by 7:00 pm. she says and if momma ain’t happy nobody’s happy.  Let’s see how we’ll cope with our older son who tells us he wants to play electric guitar,THAT will be interesting!  Maybe we need to invest in our own soundproof studio!

Geting Your Child Started His or Her First Guitar

When most parents are trying to decide on their kids first instrument, more often than not it is some form of kids acoustic guitars. This is usually a good decision, as the acoustic guitar lends itself to a more mellow and subdued sound. An acoustic guitar is also a good starting place for young children, and works well with classic children’s songs.

As kids get older, they will predictably desire to explore the realm of electric guitar playing  Most parents no longer view rock and roll as hedonistic, and something that only ‘bad’ kids get into.  While electric guitar playing is loud, it is also uplifting and filled with energy. Although you may prefer you kids to stick with the melodious acoustic model, it is important to have an open mind and let their music tastes evolve naturally.  Tis the season for parents to explore acoustic guitars for children as a wonderful Christmas gift!

My little girl has been begging me for guitar lessons for quite some time now.  She will be turning eight in January and of course Christmas will be here before we know it!! I have begun looking at guitars for kids online.  She is a good kid and I think that she is excited about learning to play an instrument.  I even have somebody in mind to instruct her that my girlfriend used to teach her son.  My son plays electric guitar and my daughter has looked up to him for years.  We started him out with a beginner electric guitar and off he went!

I am happy when my children are happy as long as they keep their hobbies in perspective and live well balanced lives.  My husband is also very supportive.  Life isn’t always easy but we do try to take stock of the many blessings that we do have.  We look forward to future “jam” session with both of our musical children which may start as early as Christmas morning!!  We’ll see.

Living Vicariously Through My Kid!!

Giving up the guitar has always been one of my biggest regrets in life. I started playing the instrument in junior high school and kept going right up through college, when life got in the way. My first job out of college was so demanding that I had to budget my free time very carefully. In order to spend time with my fiancée, the guitar-playing habit had to go. Fortunately, I have the chance to reconnect with my precious guitar vicariously through my son.

He just turned 11 and has been clamoring for an electric guitar for several months now. With Christmas right around the corner, there is no question about what present to get him; all I have to do is look at guitars for children suitable for a beginner. After mulling over the advantages of electric vs. acoustic models, I have decided to get him a kids electric guitar. Most of his favorite bands play electric, so I believe he will be more motivated if he can emulate his heroes,  I look forward to his reaction on Christmas day!!

What Will Be On Santa’s Sleigh?

When my husband gets excited about something he pulls all out all the stops and its no holds barred!  He recently told me that after having a heart to heart talk with our young and curious son about what he wants most for Christmas, our son said an electric guitar is a must.  After a thoughtful but most enthusiastic pause, my eager to please husband said that Santa would have a kids guitar on his sleigh without a doubt!  My husband went to work immediately to find the best and fanciest kids electric guitar in town and online!  The ever practical part of me said “Wait a minute buster!”  And so I began my search for discount kids guitars!  The results actually looked pretty promising.

We have a lot of planning and budgeting to do to get ready for Christmas this year and a childrens electric guitar may in fact fit the budget!  I am all for supporting my children as long as we live within our means.  My husband and I will probably continue to battle over finances but I am glad that in time we are usually able to work things out!   Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

Letting Your Kid Try On Different Hats!

I was not aware that childrens  electric guitars existed but my buddy told me that he just bought one for his youngest son and it was really pretty inexpensive.  This is very good to know!  I too have a young son who I really believe would enjoy learning to play electric guitar.  On a whim I started looking for childrens guitars online and I am thrilled at how many cool guitars are available for a kid his age.  I might even get one for myself and my girlfriend, (just kidding!)

My son seems to really like music but he is a little shy so I think this might be a hobby to bring him “out” a little.  As a father it can be hard sometimes to find the line between encouraging and not pushing.  We will try out the guitar and if he doesn’t like it so be it.  I need to expose my child to all I can and hopefully something will stick

The Music That Binds Us!

Last month we bought our daughter a kids acoustic guitar.  She couldn’t be any happier than a pig in mud! All of our children love music and do play instruments, our daughter plays the piano and the flute and our youngest son plays the drums but is now interested in playing guitar but not just electric guitar.  He wants to play acoustic guitar like his buddy Tad.  So I guess now we will go guitar shopping yet again.

I think we will look at some childrens acoustic guitars as I saw some online and they seem to be quite affordable and very good quality.  Our son is very ambitious and gets along well with his peers.  He is a Cub Scout and has a nice little group of neighborhood buddies.   He and Tad say they want to perform together and be ‘Rock Stars!’ Christmas is around the corner and we know that a kids guitar will make our son so happy and he will learn to play guitar quickly because he appears to really have some musical ability.  This is really very exciting for the whole family!

What Will Be Under The Tree Christmas Morning?

My five year old wants to be a rocker in the worst way!  It all started several months ago after she spent time with her aunt and uncle while I was away for a week on a business trip.  My daughter just idolizes her older cousin who is currently a bass guitarist in a local band.  Her uncle, my brother says that my daughter followed him around and finally Jake relented allowing his young cousin to play a few notes on his “precious” guitar while he watched, (hoping and praying that she didn’t break anything!). That did it, my daughter was sold, she HAD to have a guitar.  She says that all she wants for Christmas is a new electric guitar, “Ok no problem” I told her.

As a former musician myself I understand the allure playing an instrument can have at a young age.   I have played piano for years and  my brother played drums and was a back up singer for many years in a very popular band in our area.  Music was always a big part of our lives.  I think that it would be totally cute to get my daughter a childrens electric guitar for Christmas and I will begin searching kids electric guitars today.  I think I can convince my husband that this would be a good plan.  I think it’s great and I know I will have a very happy daughter on my hands Christmas morning!
