I have five children who all have very different interests. My two older sons play soccer, my middle daughter is a very good pianist and my youngest son loves riding his bike and wreaking havoc on our home any chance he gets. My youngest daughter and the “baby of the family” says that she wants to learn guitar just like her father. Her father, my husband has played acoustic and electric guitar with friends throughout the years at churches, wedding receptions, and local watering holes in our area. My daughter is quite aware that she has a birthday in April and has decided that she wants an acoustic guitar! I am game as long as she realizes that she needs to have balance in her life and be involved in other activities
My husband has many contacts and does know an awful lot about guitars. My husband is quite excited to give our daughter some proper instruction but realizes that she may need further lessons with someone who teaches on a more regular basis.
What do you do with a very limited budget and a kid who swears that the thing he wants most for Christmas is an acoustic guitar! I am a single mother working hard to raise my two sons, (ages 11 and 14). My younger son, Christopher has Attention Deficit Disorder. I really believe in the importance of helping children harness their passion and feel that music is a wonderful outlet for our youngsters.
