The wonderful sound of music has always filled our home. I play the organ for the church choir and my husband plays the bassoon at various functions in our community. My oldest daughter plays the cello in her school’s orchestra. Out youngest son has just informed us that he too wants to play an instrument and just knows that we will be thrilled about this. Never in my wildest dreams did I think he would want to play electric guitar!!!! I was very unsure about this but my husband seems to think that it’s a great idea and it he wants to play so badly then he will receive proper instruction.
My husband has told me that he knows where to find some really good childrens electric guitars. He thinks he can get a really good deal on some cool guitars that our son will really love! I feel however that if he is going to get a kids electric guitar then he is going to learn proper technique (i.e. a good instructor and some learn to play guitar books and DVD’s) As long as we can live with a peaceful noise level in our home then I guess I’m game!
Music has been a part of our family for more years than I can remember. Both of my parents sing in our church choir and my parents also perform in a singing chorale throughout the year. All of us kids have been exposed to many different types of music. My kid brother seems to want to play the guitar and I think my parents are going to help my brother Ivan follow this interest. They told me that they have been checking out different types of childrens acoustic guitars. Ivan is going to be SO excited on Christmas morning.
So now that my parents have warmed up to this idea, maybe they will consider getting me a beginner electric guitar. I have been dying to get one for many years and now my parents see how affordable they are. I can see it now, one day Ivan and I will “jam” together on our very cool guitars! Well maybe in a few years. We’ll see.
I am fifteen years old and my parents just bought me a beginner acoustic guitar. I couldn’t be happier as it has been a dream of mine to learn to play the guitar for many years! I am SO thrilled and now I am hoping to save up enough money to for a good instructor! I just ordered a guitar instructional book online from a really good website!
I know that I want to go to college but I am also hoping to work on a musical career! I can really see myself and couple of my buddies “jamming” at coffee houses with our cool guitars! I also LOVE to sing and have a pretty good vocal range. I look forward to the years ahead and with my “budding” musical career!
My son, Nick will definitely be in a band one day. I see the signs already. He wants to grow his hair long, wears a dew rag on his head, picks up everything in sight pretending it is a guitar, hums various rock tunes constantly, and even has a swarm of girls that follow him! Lately he seems to want to imitate my idols, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend. He has the Pete Townshend guitar slide down pat! It is fun for me to watch and I want to support him with his passion but hope it is not the only thing in life that interests him.
Nick’s birthday is in November and Christmas is the following month. My wife Sandra says we HAVE to get him an electric guitar for either his birthday or Christmas. I must admit that there are some very cool guitars out there for adults and kids! I have always wanted an electric guitar and might buy one for myself so I can “jam” with Nick. There are some good deals out there so I don’t think it will strain the budget too much. My only concern is that Nick doesn’t try to “smash” his guitar the way Pete Townshend used to!
