I was not aware that it was possible to buy a childrens guitar but my girlfriend Tanya said that she just bought one for her youngest son and it was really not that expensive at all. This is very good to know! I too have a young daughter who I truly believe would enjoy learning to play guitar. On a whim I began looking yesterday at guitars for kids online while at work, (don’t tell my boss!) and I am thrilled at how many cool guitars are available for kids her age. I’m so excited that I might even get one for myself!
My daughter has always seemed to LOVE music from day one but she is a bit on the shy side so I think this might be a hobby to bring her ‘out’ a little more. As a mother I want to encourage her but not push her ‘too’ hard. We will try out the guitar and if she doesn’t like it we will move on to something else and who knows, maybe I’ll start playing the guitar as a new hobby for me!
I was not aware that childrens electric guitars existed but my buddy told me that he just bought one for his youngest son and it was really pretty inexpensive. This is very good to know! I too have a young son who I really believe would enjoy learning to play electric guitar. On a whim I started looking for childrens guitars online and I am thrilled at how many cool guitars are available for a kid his age. I might even get one for myself and my girlfriend, (just kidding!)
My son seems to really like music but he is a little shy so I think this might be a hobby to bring him “out” a little. As a father it can be hard sometimes to find the line between encouraging and not pushing. We will try out the guitar and if he doesn’t like it so be it. I need to expose my child to all I can and hopefully something will stick
My fourteen year old son has been BEGGING me for the past month to get him a new electric guitar! He says that he simply must have one since he and his friends are putting together a new band! He told me where to find these cool guitars and says that we HAVE to go shopping soon! Of course kids his age don’t factor in cost and that what they consider a NEED to me is really a LUXURY! He will get his cool guitar but maybe not in the exact time frame that he would like!
I am a single parent and do the very best I can but with three sons finances can be a bit tricky, a fact that can often gets lost on my very ambitious children! I guess you can’t expect children to totally understand adult issues. Overall, I have really good kids and that all that matters. As a parent I guess that’s the most you can hope for!
My son just LOVES to “jam” on his new guitar and even though it gets on my nerves at times, I have to admit that he is really pretty good! We are glad that we have found something that interests him because it hasn’t always been easy to find something that he will stick with. He does “ok” in school and at this point we just want him to get a diploma, learn a trade and establish some type of career. I know he REALLY wants to be a “rocker” but we are insisting that he have a “back up” plan.
We decided that we would get our son an amateur guitar for Christmas this past year after years of pleading from him. He insisted that he be a part of the guitar search since his “dopey” parents certainly wouldn’t recognize cool guitars if they fell right into their laps! I think we deserve a little more credit than that. Anyway long story short, he really enjoys the beginner electric guitar that we bought for him. This purchase has had some unexpected benefits in that we can use his playing time as leverage to get him to do other less desirable activities, ( like ah.. taking out the trash!) I think as parents we need to do what we can to see what makes our kids tick. For some kids this is easier said than done but sometimes the reward is well worth the effort in the end!
My son says that we HAVE TO get him an electric guitar for his upcoming fifteenth birthday because he and his buddies are intent on playing in a band. Our son has been playing his friend’s guitar and now says he needs his own guitar. He has pointed us to some websites that host some really cool guitars! My husband seems to be more enthusiastic than myself at this point. I am glad that he loves the guitar so much but I don’t want him to neglect his studies either! My husband says “Just relax!” and I want to but someone in the family needs to be practical.
My husband has reminded me that when our older son wanted to play drums as a child, we got him a kids drum set and when he was a teenager we purchased some amateur drums. While I do remember that I had forgotten how we worried that playing the drums in a band would deter him from college. Our son still plays in a band but is also building a successful career in the medical field. My husband is probably right, buying our son an amateur guitar isn’t a bad idea, is it?
I was not aware that one could buy a childrens guitar but my buddy Sam said that he just bought one for his youngest son and it was really not that expensive at all. This is very good to know! I too have a young son who I really believe would enjoy learning to play guitar. On a whim I began looking at childrens guitars online and I am thrilled at how many cool guitars are available for a kid his age. I might even get one for myself!

My oldest son, now fourteen has been playing guitar now for almost six years. He had been begging us to get him an electric guitar and we finally relented and got him a childrens electric guitar. He has pretty much played it to death and now he wants a new guitar. He has shown me some pictures of some cool guitars and says that if we get him a new guitar now we will not have to get him a birthday gift when he turns fifteen in June. My husband and I do feel that it is worth the investment since he has shown such passion for the “crazy guitar” this far.
I only insist that in his quest to be a “Rock God” he complete his studies and attend college because I think life is tougher these days without a college degree. He “reluctantly” agrees to this and I think he feels that going to college is more of an opportunity to play in a really cool band and get as many gig as possible on his way up the ladder. Oh well, what is a parent to do? At least my child does have interests in life and thus far has been a pretty good student without a lot of effort.
My daughter has been a fan of Hannah Montana for several years. She has informed us that she knows that she can sing like Hannah Montana and also REALLY wants to learn to play guitar. My wife is all for it and says that even if this interest is just a phase, she thinks we should honor it. Our daughter’s birthday is March 14th and my wife says that she has begun looking at childrens electric guitars online. She has bookmarked some good websites and wants me to check out some really cool guitars that she believes our daughter will love.
So we are going to get her involved in our church choir. She is excited about this but says that it’s rock music that she really wants to sing. I guess it will be fun for the whole family to listen to our daughter sing and play her childrens electric guitar! I am quite sure that our daughter will have a very happy birthday!
The term “cool” is highly subjective, and nowhere is this more apparent than in popular music. While some groups think that bands like Puddle of Mudd and Nickelback represent the pinnacle of coolness, others simply view them as sellouts. Conversely, some people see bands like Radiohead and of Montreal as being too irrelevant to be cool, while others see them as cutting edge avant-garde musicians.
As can be imagined, the definition of a cool guitar player varies as much as the distinct tastes in music that people hold. Some enjoy the breakneck playing that is the trademark of heavy metal, others the minimalistic nature of acoustic music. Although defining “cool” is often a task of futility, the beauty is that every person is free to define it for themselves.
During the 70’s there was one band that towered over all of the others: Led Zeppelin. Arising from the remnants of The Yardbirds, the band featured the premier musician at virtually every position in the band. While all of the members are now famous—or infamous depending on whom you consult—the guitarist Jimmy Page stands alone in rock lore.
Not only was Page the most prolific guitarist of his time, but he also added to his allure due to his associations with magic and the occult. During concerts, Page would employ an assortment of crazy guitars and accessories to enhance his performance. From using a bow to play his guitar to the famous double-necked model used for the epic “Stairway to Heaven,” Page’s stage performances have become a thing of legend.
