Like Daughter Like Mother?

Little girls are so funny these days.  In this day and age it’s no longer playing house with friends or playing with dolls for hours on end.  I think it’s great.  Women’s lib. in the 70’s started the change toward more equal play.  Now it’s gone from playing kickball and dodge ball with their male counterparts to jamming on their cool kids guitars like little rock stars!  My kids is no exception with this current trend.  She wants me to get her a childrens electric guitar for her upcoming birthday in August.

As I peruse through various websites online that feature childrens guitars I am pretty impressed with what I see making me wish I was her age again!  Hey, maybe I’ll get one for myself!  I have no problem with the “Rock God” stage as long as she leads a well balanced life!  They’re only young once and as I too re-experience my youth, I may just “rock out” with her too!

They’re Only Young Once!

My daughter is just SO cute.  I know all parents must say that about their kids but I really do love watching her grow as I re-experience that unspoiled child-like innocence!  As a family we are getting together along with her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins to celebrate her sixth birthday.  All our daughter can talk about is how much she wants a guitar.  She is pretty insistent and somewhat persistent when she wants something.  My husband did a pretty thorough search for childrens electric guitars and found some absolutely adorable guitars for our aspiring little musician!

On Sunday we will present her with a childrens electric guitar that I know she will just love!  I believe that one of her cousins already has a kids guitar that he really enjoys so he may be able to give her a few pointers.  I look forward to some lovely impromptu concerts form our little rocker!  I want to enjoy that period of innocence for as long as I can!

Being A Part Of His Life!

My husband and I have had a lot of joy watching our son grow up.  We both feel that music will be his thing.  He LOVES to sing and pretend to play “air” guitar.  For my husband and I there was little question of what to get him for his eighth birthday.  We decided that a “perfect” gift would be a kids electric guitar!  I think my husband and I had just as much fun looking at various kids electric guitars as our son will have playing one in the very near future!

We had difficulty conceiving our son and were SO delighted when we finally got pregnant!  Now we don’t want to miss any stage of our son’s life!  Don’t get me wrong, parenting isn’t always easy, but we love creating all these wonderful memories!  I think it will be loads of fun watching our son “jam” on his childrens electric guitar and singing his little heart out!

If it weren’t for my Family!

When I was growing up or rather when my mother was growing up we would have never believed that a kid could get a childrens electric guitar for his birthday that was affordable and have so many options from which to choose!  I guess when it’s all said and done kids don’t fundamentally change on the times in which they grow up do.  My parents bought my son a kids electric guitar for his eighth birthday and you never saw a happier kid.  My mother had no clue where to shop for a childrens guitar so I helped her out by looking online.  My how the times change from generation to generation!

As we approach the 4th of July weekend, my son has guaranteed us that we will be blessed as he will serenade us at the family picnic.  I’m sure mom will love this!  Actually my parents and siblings are wonderful to my kids and will bend over backwards to see them happy!  While life hasn’t always been easy, I really need to count my blessings!  If it weren’t for the love of family I don’t know what I’d do! Happy Independence Day everyone!

Our Little Flower Child!

Our daughter seems to show a wild streak already at the age of eight.  She seems to want to run barefoot and climb trees like her older brothers.   Yet at the same time she wants to grow her hair long and wear beads like a little flower child.  Now she says that she wants to grow up to be a “rocker”  says that what she wants more than anything for her birthday is an electric guitar and says that she wants nothing else!

Because she is still a child we will need to get her a childrens electric guitar instead of an adult sized guitar.  My husband and I will start looking at electric guitars for children online and at music stores in our community.  I guess this could be a lot of fun and my daughter will be SO excited!  I can’t wait to see what she will become when she grows up.  As long as she’s happy that’s all I care about!  I guess time will tell!

Choosing The Right Sized Kids Electric Guitar

Making the decision to allow your child to learn to play electric guitar can be just as fun for you as it can be for them! Part of this fun is shopping for the guitar!  There is only one real difference between children’s electric guitars and electric guitars for adults and that is the size of the instrument.  Your child’s age and build will determine which size children’s electric guitar you purchase for them.  Children who are age seven and younger would be best suited for a ½ size guitar. Whereas children aged eight years to about eleven years are better off playing the three quarter sized guitar. In most cases once a child has reached the age of eleven they should then be able to use a full size electric guitar without any problems.  Guitar cases for children also are available to fit both the ½ size and3/4 size guitars

It is important that you take your time when selecting the right children’s electric guitar for your child.  You need to make sure that you select the right size on because if it is too big your child might find it too difficult to handle and won’t be as willing to develop their electric guitar playing skills. Remember they need to be able to handle the guitar in a way that won’t be placing any strain on their body.   Best of luck and have fun!!

Our Little Rocker!

Kids grow fast and they seem to go through many phases and changes in their lives.  I know that it’s normal for kids to wear “many different hats” if you will.  My kids are no exception.  We try to accommodate them as best we can but it can get expensive keeping up with all of the hobbies they decide to become involved with.   As a parent you must tow the line between supporting  your child’s various interests and encouraging them to stick with something and not give up!

Our young son says that he “knows” he wants to grow up to be a “rocker”.  At age six you think you know what you want and my husband says “let’s just have fun with this”  I have to agree and I guess our wallet will determine whether we can afford to get our son a childrens electric guitar for his birthday.  My husband and I will have fun looking at different childrens electric guitars to see what is available.  So far we have found some kids guitars that do look affordable so I guess we will have one happy little rocker on July 2nd!

Born To Rock!

My son was born to be a musician I just know it.  The kid is either beating his hands on the kitchen table to some song or is picking up whatever he can find pretending to “jam” on a make believe guitar.  This make believe guitar could be a tennis racquet, a broom stick or whatever he can find that could pass for a guitar!  As a family we have decided that the only proper gift to get him for his upcoming birthday is an electric guitar.   Since he is still just a kiddo we will get him a childrens electric guitar!  I know that he will be beyond thrilled!

As a family we will have fun looking at all the kids electric guitars available!  I think we have a pretty good idea of what type of kids guitar he really wants so hopefully we will agree on something!  We will probably also get him some beginner DVD’s for him to learn some proper technique.  At some point we may even find a private instructor for him.  We all anxiously await July 22nd when our son/ brother will no longer feel the need to jam on whatever he can find available in our house.  Now if we can just tolerate the noise!

Honoring My Little Girl’s Dream!

My daughter has been saying for several years now that she wants to grow up and play guitar like her uncle Joe, (my brother in law).  After several years my husband and I realize that it might be a good idea to make an investment in a childrens electric guitar.  Fortunately for our daughter she has a birthday coming up this summer and so we will begin now searching for childrens electric guitars online and in some music stores locally.  I just know that come July 16th we will have one happy little girl on our hands!

My husband has said that there are some really cute kids electric guitars that are good quality instruments that are affordable and have good durability.  This is good to know because being the frugal one of the family I want to know that our money is well spent.  For her to get the chance to play with Uncle Joe one day would be a dream come true.  As far as her playing in a band, I may need more time to wrap my mind around that idea.  I guess time will tell!

Learning To Live In The Moment!

It’s that time of year again.  Where does the time go?  A year comes a year goes and before you know it another child is ready to leave the nest.  How can it be that our youngest son has another birthday and  is already turning five.  He says that this year what he wants the very most is a childrens electric guitar!  Yes at the ripe old age of five he wants an electric guitar for his birthday!  My husband says that it’s not really an electric guitar but a kids electric guitar and let him have fun with it.  I know he’s right but it just seems like they grow up too fast these days.

This coming school year our daughter will be going off to college and I already am feeling the loss of the first child leaving the nest.  Sometimes it’s like the song says “If I could take time in a bottle”, I’d slow  the time down and spend more days  with my kids.  But it is important to learn to live in the moment and not lament the past or worry about the future.  So I will enjoy every moment of my son “rocking out” on his new kids guitar!
