The Guitar Goddess

My five year old wants to be a rocker in the worst way!  It all started several months ago when she spent time with her aunt and uncle while my wife and I were away on a business trip.  Alana just loves her older cousin Jake who is a bass guitarist in a local band.  Her aunt, my sister says that Alana followed him around and finally Jake relented allowing his young cousin to play his “precious” guitar while he supervised making sure she didn’t touch something she wasn’t supposed to. That did it, Alana was sold.  She says that all she wants for her sixth birthday is a new electric guitar, “Ok no problem” I told her.

As a former musician myself I understand the allure playing an instrument can have at a young age.  I played drums for years in a very popular band in our area and am still very close with some of my old bandmates today.  I think that it would be totally cute to get Alana a childrens electric guitar for her sixth birthday.  I think I can convince my wife that this would be a good plan.  I think it’s great and I know I will have a very happy daughter on my hands quite soon!

Why Let Your Child Learn To Play Electric Guitar?

Learning to play a musical instrument has many benefits and helps instill a sense of discipline into a child. Leaning to play an instrument, like a childrens electric guitar helps teach children the relationship between hard work and rewards.  It raises their IQ. Studies have shown that children who are exposed from a young age to music lessons and musical instruments are more likely to be smarter than their peers. It also helps them to read although nobody seems to be quite sure why. It gives them an outlet for stress.  Being able to play a guitar can help your child learn how to work through stress although your ear drums may pay the price!

Allowing your child to learn to play a kids electric guitar can help your child because electric guitar  are seen as cool instruments and everyone wants to hang out with the coolest kids at school. They have fun while also gaining a sense of achievement from having accomplished something.  Learning to play guitar can help your child’s public speaking abilities as he or she gets used to performing in front of an audience. Before you rush out to buy a childrens electric guitar, it pays to shop around for the best deal.  If your child is young, you may want to consider a second hand electric guitar for his or her first instrument. You can upgrade as he or she becomes a more accomplished player.

A New Red Guitar!

My daughter says she wants a guitar because she knows she has talent.  She says she wants a red guitar because her room is red and red is her favorite color.  As luck would have it, her birthday is in March and my mother is really excited, loves to dote on her grandchildren and says she will purchase a “red” guitar for her very favorite, (and only) granddaughter.   Because my mother doesn’t do much of her own shopping anymore and does not have access to the internet, we will do the shopping for her.  My husband says there are lots of guitars for kids available and he already has a really cute red one picked out.

I just hope that mom realizes that while this is so very kind of her, we will be the ones that will put up with the inevitable noise.  I love music more than anyone but I do have my limits.  I love my daughter and more importantly I want her to be happy, so if a red childrens electric guitar will make her happy then so be it!

Getting that Cool Guitar!

My oldest son, now fourteen has been playing guitar now for almost six years.  He had been begging us to get him an electric guitar and we finally relented and got him a childrens electric guitar.  He has pretty much played it to death and now he wants a new guitar.  He has shown me some pictures of some cool guitars and says that if we get him a new guitar now we will not have to get him a birthday gift when he turns fifteen in June.  My husband and I do feel that it is worth the investment since he has shown such passion for the “crazy guitar” this far.

I only insist that in his quest to be a “Rock God” he complete his studies and attend college because I think life is tougher these days without a college degree.  He “reluctantly” agrees to this and I think he feels that going to college is more of an opportunity to play in a really cool band and get as many gig as possible on his way up the ladder.  Oh well, what is a parent to do?  At least my child does have interests in life and thus far has been a pretty good student without a lot of effort.

sweetheart childrens electric guitarsMy daughter has been a fan of Hannah Montana for several years.  She has informed us that she knows that she can sing like Hannah Montana and also REALLY wants to learn to play guitar.  My wife is all for it and says that even if this interest is just a phase, she thinks we should honor it.  Our daughter’s birthday is March 14th and my wife says that she has begun looking at childrens electric guitars online.  She has bookmarked some good websites and wants me to check out some really cool guitars that she believes our daughter will love.

So we are going to get her involved in our church choir.  She is excited about this but says that it’s rock music that she really wants to sing.  I guess it will be fun for the whole family to listen to our daughter sing and play her childrens electric guitar!  I am quite sure that our daughter will have a very happy birthday!

Learning To Play Guitar Online

online childrens guitarsIs your child wanting to learn how to play the electric guitar and having problems finding a tutor locally? Then it is worth considering taking up one of the many online childrens electric guitar lessons that are available. However, it is important that you take your time over selecting the right course for them.  You must look for a teacher who understands that children learn to play an instrument at different rates and so accommodate that child’s particular needs.  There are many childrens guitars that are optimal for the beginner student.

Remember to play an instrument well one needs to understand how it is built and how it works.  Therefore it is important to find a teacher who will talk about the different parts of the guitar and how they relate to playing the guitar effectively.   Your child should know how each part is designed to help contribute to the sound that is created when played. Of course what you really want is an online childrens electric guitar course that helps the child appreciate what they are learning to play. The more a child enjoys learning a new skill the more chance there is of them actually continuing with their lessons and so improving on what they have learnt. What is great about online courses is that your child can learn at a time that is convenient for you and them. Online courses also help you save money because transportation to the lesson is not an issue.

Finding The Right Amp For Your Child’s Guitar

rock on cool guitarWould your child like to have the opportunity to learn to play the guitar?  If they would then there are plenty of good quality childrens electric guitars now available that can bring them plenty of satisfaction in the future.  But along with purchasing the right sort of guitar it is important that you purchase the right sort of amp as well.  But how do you know which amp for your childrens electric guitar is best? Below are some tips that could go a long way to making sure that the amp you purchase is the best one for your child and their guitar.

Look for an amplifier that comes with the most basic features and allows you to adjust the volume and tone.  However, what you will find with a great many of the traditional amplifiers is that they come with both reverb effect and gain control.  These additional controls can give your guitar more presence or spatial echo effect but are not required when learning the basics of playing this instrument. Look for amps that childrens electric guitars can be connected to that have at least two inputs on them so they can practice with a friend or a teacher.  Also they can use it for connecting a microphone as well. If your child will be having private one on one lessons elsewhere make sure that the amplifier can easily be transported. There are plenty of these on the market today and although the wattage may be low they still will produce plenty of sound. Give your child a cool guitar with am amplifier and he is set!

new decade childrens electric guitarsThe new year and/or new decade is here ready or not.  We feel that it will be a good year and we continue to wish for peace on earth!  I have been fortunate to be able to take time off from work from Christmas through New Year’s and really enjoyed the quality family time we got to spend together.  We had a good Christmas and the kids really seemed to enjoy their gifts.  Our son was most enamored with the childrens electric guitar that we got him!  He seems to want to “jam” all day long!  I am glad that my wife and I did such a good job researching  childrens electric guitars!  He just LOVES this guitar and it really seems to be the “perfect” fit for him in many ways!

We are blessed to have the chance to start fresh in this wonderful new year and we believe that this is a wonderful time to take stock of your life and set realistic goals.  Our best wishes to everyone for a happy, healthy and fun filled 2010!

princess beginner childrens guitarsLast year my 7 year old son came home from school after attending music class saying he HAD to get some drums because he wants to grow up and be a rock star!  I thought this was quite humorous and went right along with it.  My wife and I purchased a childrens drumset and we have never looked back.  Our son loves to “bang on the drums all day!”  This has sometimes not gone over to well with my wife who requires an understandable amount of peace and quiet!

My darling daughter just 6 years old says she wants an electric guitar for Christmas.  I said to my wife, “Here we go again!”  However since the drums have gone over so well with our son, why not get a childrens electric guitar?  Who knows maybe our children will form their own little band.  I am doing a search for beginner childrens guitars right now and know that I have to act quickly as Christmas is next week!   I think this is a lot of fun.  Maybe we’ll have to build a sound proof studio so my wife can definitely keep her sanity!

Is It Just A Phase?

mom childrens electric guitarsWhat do you do when your kid is convinced that she is the next Hannah Montana?  Do you give her a dose of reality or do you just go along with it?  My husband says that this is just a phase and it will pass so don’t take it too seriously.  In fact he came home from work last night and told me that he had been searching for some childrens electric guitars online.  He thinks that this is the perfect gift for our daughter and that she will have SO MUCH FUN with this gift!

How can I be a party pooper?  If a kids electric guitar will make her happy then why not?  Since we are getting her a childrens electric guitar we might as well get her some learn to play guitar songbooks as well.  Our daughter is after all a well rounded kid who will more than likely not get too carried away.  As long as she keeps up with her school work I am fine!
