My daughter has been a musical enthusiast the very first minute she heard her first musical note. My wife and I noticed that she started banging on the side of her crib in a succinct rhythm as a toddler and then as she grew she would tap on the kitchen table and would make an attempt to strum a book or a magazine. When she turned five it was obvious what we had to get her for her birthday, duh duh duh dah duh dah!!!!, a kids guitar! My wife was in immediate agreement! We had fun looking at all the childrens acoustic guitars online!
Our daughter’s birthday was a smashing success. She LOVES this particular kids guitar and if it were up to her she would play morning, noon and night! Whether or not this is a passing phase it matters not to us, we love seeing true joy on our daughter’s face, believe me, it’s worth every penny spent!!
As any guitar player knows, when learning to play guitar the first few weeks are the toughest. It takes a lot of effort, determination and discipline to keep progressing forward when you’re not sure you’ll make it a musician. In reality, not even the most naturally talented guitarist is any good after just a few sessions. Some evidence even suggests that the Beatles were a lousy bar band until they put in thousands of hours of rehearsal time.
In his recent book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell studies those successful individuals who amass great wealth and fame beyond most people’s imagination. Gladwell asserts that people such as Bill Gates and the Beatles are not merely geniuses who would succeed under any circumstances. Instead, Gladwell clearly states that they became great successes because of the hours of practice they put in honing their skills. Gates spent months tinkering with computers in his garage and the Beatles played to empty barrooms in Germany for several years. This theory will hopefully serve as an inspiration for kids – convincing them not to put down their childrens acoustic guitars or childrens electric guitars for years to come!
When you hear the word ‘slur’ what might immediately come to mind is incoherent ramblings of someone who has had way too much to drink. What probably would not come to mind is a technique known by seasoned musicians and performed by classical guitar players. Slurring is similar to hammer-ons and pull-offs, a technique that electric guitar players use.
This technique can be performed not only on full sized acoustic guitars but on childrens acoustic guitars as well. Like the hammer-on, it takes some time to perfect. In slurring like the hammer-on, the fretting fingers should be holding a note after a single pick. Then, without a second pick, a few fingers are used to slap out the next note on a higher fret. Pull-offs are achieved by literally pulling a few fretting fingers off the fretboard to reveal a lower note that’s already being held by a single finger
Parents are sometimes has more to do with capturing their child’s love of music and love of guitar than actual musical ability. Just think back to when you were a child, did you care about the technical aspects of music, or did you “just want to rock?”
By keeping the lessons fresh and fun, you can get your child interested kid in learning to play childrens acoustic guitars with less effort then you might think. First and foremost you can start with some songs that your child already knows and loves as this will boost his incentive to learn. In other words, don’t focus too much on songs from your genre if your kid is more familiar with Contemporary Country or Top 40 music. Good luck!
There are many activities that children can pursue that will truly help them in the long run, and one of those activities is learning to play a musical instrument. Even if they don’t continue to play the instrument beyond their school years, they will always have the discipline offered by this undertaking. They will also be left with the concrete skill of being able to read music. All of these creative kinds of learning greatly contribute to a more creative and well rounded individual.
With this in mind, it’s a great idea to encourage any interest your child expresses regarding learning how to play an instrument. Whether it’s the guitar or the cello, one thing to keep in mind is that you should always get an instrument that’s tailored to your child. As such, you might want to look into kids guitars if that’s their instrument of choice. In today’s times a parent can choose between a wide variety of childrens electric and childrens acoustic guitars. They’ll be a little smaller and easier to handle for your kid. Just remember that they will grow, and the instrument will need to grow with them,
We have a good life for the most part and we don’t want for much. Life was tough last year when our kids lost their grandfather, my father in law. He has been such a wonderful influence in their lives and in the lives of many others. He was a wonderful musician his whole life. He sang played piano, guitar and performed in a singing troupe.. Our middle son was particularly close to his grandfather. Our son’s one and only request for Christmas this year is a beginner acoustic guitar. My husband and I were more than happy to oblige!
My husband wasn’t aware that acoustic guitars for children were so readily available. We really did have a good time together looking at childrens acoustic guitars. I am glad my son wants to play guitar and wants to emulate his grandfather who was a well respected and wonderful human being. I look forward to what the new year will bring! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!
Ah the rush of the season, as much as we complain, we really wouldn’t have it any other way! Every year we say that we are going to do things more simply but it just never really happens! My wife and I went ALL OUT! We got MP3 players, laptops, and cool clothing items that our kids will love! One of the most interesting gifts we got was for our six year old son. He has been bugging us for guitar lessons and so after a long search for childrens acoustic guitars, we finally just found a really good quality beginner childrens guitar. We are more than excited to give this super cool guitar to our son who has been jamming on anything he can find at home from tennis racquets to magazines to pots and pans to whatever!
I get to play Santa Claus each year as the kids leave cookies and milk for me. All the effort is worth it as the kids go CRAZY Christmas morning. I know that our son will start jammin right away! My wife says that she has also ordered some beginner guitar lessons on DVD that should arrive tomorrow morning! I love it that my kids help keep my inner child alive and kickin!
Last month we bought our daughter a kids acoustic guitar. She couldn’t be any happier than a pig in mud! All of our children love music and do play instruments, our daughter plays the piano and the flute and our youngest son plays the drums but is now interested in playing guitar but not just electric guitar. He wants to play acoustic guitar like his buddy Tad. So I guess now we will go guitar shopping yet again.
I think we will look at some childrens acoustic guitars as I saw some online and they seem to be quite affordable and very good quality. Our son is very ambitious and gets along well with his peers. He is a Cub Scout and has a nice little group of neighborhood buddies. He and Tad say they want to perform together and be ‘Rock Stars!’ Christmas is around the corner and we know that a kids guitar will make our son so happy and he will learn to play guitar quickly because he appears to really have some musical ability. This is really very exciting for the whole family!
All my kids seem to love music in some capacity. My son plays bass guitar and sings backup in a local band with a few of his buddies. We want to encourage him to continue with the band after high school as long as he keeps up with his studies while keeping the rest of his life in perspective. Our daughter sings in the choir and now absolutely LOVES the fact that she is beginning to sing solos!! Now our little six year old daughter says she wants to play guitar. My husband thinks it would be good to start our daughter on a beginner acoustic guitar.
So now we begin the search for childrens acoustic guitars. We do have a little time to look because our daughter’s birthday isn’t until November 20th. I think she will be quite pleased. I know she loves music just as much as anyone else in the family!! She will join the Children’s Choir at church next year and now she can add guitar to her repertoire. She will also be so excited to “jam’ with her older brother who she very much looks up to.
If you ask almost any kid what instrument he or she would like to learn to play and the answer is almost always the same: the guitar. When I asked my son what musical implement he would like to learn, he was no different than the majority of his peers. While I was excited to help him pursue his interest, I was less than enthusiastic about the prospects of hearing an electric guitar amp from his room incessantly.
In order to gradually introduce him into the guitar world, I decided to look into childrens acoustic guitars. At first he wasn’t too excited to play a kids guitar that wasn’t akin to the ones that he saw his favorite bands playing. After a while, however, he learned to appreciate the nuances of the acoustic guitar and has developed into quite a musician. For his birthday this year, I just might consider allowing him to upgrade to an electric model. That’ll make his day!!
