I love it when I see any type of enthusiasm in my children. Finding a passion isn’t always easy for children so when I see that one of my children is excited about something I want to nurture it and really get involved in it as much as I can! My daughter has been expressing an interest for some time now in learning to play acoustic guitar. She is only seven years old so I immediately began researching acoustic guitars for children. I am quite pleased with the selection I have found and plan to give my daughter a really cute childrens acoustic guitar for her eight birthday in September!
Our family has fallen on some hard times recently as my wife was laid off from her job over the winter and my father passed away in May and it is important that we continue to celebrate life in any way we can! As a parent I believe it is my job to help my children to be all they can be and show them that even in the bad times there’s a silver lining in every cloud!
Have you noticed that your child has an aptitude for music? Do they enjoy playing air guitar when they hear music? Here are some important tips when choosing a guitar for your son or daughter. First, make sure the guitar is small enough for your kid’s body. Children under five don’t really have the ability to play a string guitar so you want to begin this age group with toy guitars that light up, or play music with easy to touch buttons. Once your child can graduate from these basic toys, you can “upgrade” to toy guitars with strings, amplifiers, and microphones. Once your child gets to be 5 – 7 years old, you can purchase several different styles of guitars for kids. These guitars usually differ in size based on a fraction from the normal size (a 3/4 guitar would be larger than a 1/4 guitar)..
You can also purchase a kids electric guitar which have a much different sound and require an amplifier to obtain the full sound. Make sure your child will not be disturbing any neighbors as he/she rocks out. It is often a good idea to have your child learn to play guitar with a childrens acoustic guitar before purchasing an electric guitar. Whatever you choose to do, remember learning an instrument won’t only be rewarding for your child but musical children also tend to have better attention spans and do better in school. Also playing an instrument will be a productive, social hobby that can prove to be very healthy in their developmental years and for many years to come!
As a parent you make a careful and conscious decision to allow your child to learn to play an instrument. A guitar is a great choice for a child. Parents can look at acoustic guitars for kids and might consider children’s electric guitars. Parents are often extremely happy to find easy solutions on the internet for training their kids to play guitar. Kids enjoy online training as they can learn at their leisure and they can refer to the lessons a number of times in the course of a day. The online guitar lessons for kids begin right from the basics about the instrument and the notes that are created with it. The step-by-step training program takes a beginner through the stages to finally reach the advanced level of playing songs on the guitar. These sites offer helpful tips to parents about sourcing the right guitar for their kids. The online guitar training sites often sustain the interest of the child on the instrument because they don’t immediately jump to the theoretical and technical parts of the training. Kids are allowed to play the chords and make the notes initially, before the other aspects of learning the guitar are gone through.
The video instructions that are available at the online training sites teach the perfect techniques to hold the guitar in the left and right hand and the classic and modern postures for playing the guitar. As the kids progress, they are taught about the rhythm and strumming patterns that are used in popular songs. Learning tools provided in the online training include the jam station and library of songs to enable one to practice along with the track that is played. Learning becomes fun when the child can choose his favorite song for practice. Children also have a choice to download guitar tutorials from some of the experts. Most parents are more than pleased with the choice to allow their children to learn to play children’s acoustic guitar.
My son had been playing the trombone in his elementary school band for a year and also taking lessons. He was doing ok but it seemed as though I almost had to “bribe” him to practice and his attempts at playing were “half hearted” at best. By accident I discovered that what my son really wants to do is play the guitar, and in particular the acoustic guitar. I took my kids to a friend’s house for the weekend. My kids know her kids and for the most part they get along pretty well. My friend’s oldest son recently began playing acoustic guitar and loves to practice quite a bit. My son was so fascinated that by the end of the weekend he already knew how to play several chords and was eager to learn to play songs!
I decided that what I really needed to do was to find a kids acoustic guitar since a full sized guitar would be too big for my son right now. I was pleased at the availability of acoustic guitars for children. I really had a good selection from which to choose. I found a childrens acoustic guitar that seems to have worked out really well and it has been well worth the price I paid as a single parent. Sometimes through “accidents” we learn the greatest things about ourselves!
I think that our daughter would rather play guitar than eat sometimes. It is probably the one activity in lie that we don’t have to motivate her to do. At school she didn’t show much interest in sports, or being a part of school plays. She always gravitated toward instruments, the guitar in particular. At the age of ten, we chose to get buy her a childrens acoustic guitar for her birthday. She seems to love country and folk music so it we felt it was the perfect choice for her. She has learned to become proficient in such a short period of time! She has learned the basics form Dvd’s and the internet and we hope to get her an instructor to further hone her skills!
I am very pleased at her progress and was at first concerned that she would isolate herself from her peers but to the contrary she has been having them over for “mini” concerts! My husband and I were concerned about cost when we purchased a kids acoustic guitar for our daughter but when we searched for cheap acoustic guitars online we were amazed at the availability of good quality and affordable guitars for children! All in all it has really been a win/win situation!
My daughter is a good mother and I am very happy to be a grandmother. I want to back her up any way I can. Her husband passed away last year so I have been even more involved over the last year. Since the kids lost their father I have struggled not to spoil or overindulge them. They are really good kids and I want to help provide as normal of a life as I can for them and I know my daughter feels the same.
My adorable little granddaughter will turn seven next month and my daughter and I are planning a birthday party for her. My daughter told me last evening that my granddaughter really wants a childrens acoustic guitar. I have no idea where to even begin to look for that. My daughter says that acoustic guitars for kids are available for kids online and she will begin her search tomorrow. The world is so different today. I wouldn’t even think to begin looking there! My granddaughter seems to really like music and I think this will be the perfect gift for her! We can’t make up for the loss of their father but we can give them a lot of unconditional love. And there’s nothing more important in the world than that!
As a parent you are happy if your children are born healthy with all their fingers and toes let alone be able be able to make it in the world. You do the very best job you can and just hope for the best! I remind myself daily that while I may not be the “perfect” parent I do the very best I can and really try to learn from my mistakes as best I can. With four children I feel that I get better. Wiser and more adaptable as the years roll on. With a son heading off to college next year, a daughter about to complete her freshman year in high school, another son finishing his first year in middle school and a daughter excited to begin fourth grade next year we get to experience different parts of childhood and adolescence all at the same time!
Our baby girl will turn ten this summer and she is SO excited because we are allowing her to have a slumber party this year! Weather permitting we will also have a pool party. Our daughter has also informed us that she really wants a childrens acoustic guitar for her big birthday! My husband has really jumped on this idea and believes that he has already found a beginner childrens guitar that will be the perfect fit for our little musician! Heck maybe we will even give her this cute little amateur guitar early so she can show it off to her friends at the slumber party and even play a little ditty for them! All in all I think that his will be a gift the whole family will enjoy!
My mother has been hounding for weeks now about my daughter’s upcoming seventh birthday. She wants to make sure all the birthday party preparations are ready to go even though her birthday isn’t until next month. I guess that’s what retirement does to a person. I mean she DEFINITELY doesn’t have enough to do! Anyway she seems to infer that I must be a bad mother since I haven’t yet begun birthday shopping,
My daughter wants to play guitar and has been telling me that for quite some time now. I have been debating whether she is old enough to play guitar and take guitar lessons. I spoke with a friend of mine the other day and he said that his son learned to play guitar with a kids acoustic guitar and has loved guitar ever since. So I think I am going to tell my very “over involved” mother that a childrens acoustic guitar would be the “perfect” gift. I’ll do the leg work to get the guitar and she can pay for it since she is more than willing to do so. Now, time to start my own shopping!
We just got done buying our daughter Carrie a new beginner acoustic guitar as I mentioned in an earlier post when our older son mentioned that he had worn out his bass guitar and needed a new one. It seems like we have spent quite a lot of money on him. When he was Carrie’s age we did spend time looking at some really fun electric guitars for children. We started him on a giraffe shaped kids electric guitar at the age of six but my how the times have changed!
Because we just bought Carrie a new childrens acoustic guitar our older son will just have to wait and so will his aspirations of playing in the big time! After all he can still use the guitar he has right now. I think it is important as parents to not reinforce the idea to our children that life will serve their every need on a silver platter. I want to please my kids but there have to be boundaries too. Stay tuned for the next chapter!
I have been a lover of music my whole life. I have sung in choirs for years. I learned to play guitar when I was twelve years old and even wrote some of my own songs. Some of the songs no one knows but me. Singing those songs puts me back in touch with some very good memories. Now my young daughter tells me that she too wants to play guitar and sing her own songs. I am delighted to hear this and want to support her in any way I can. Today they have so many more guitars for kids available then when I was her age.
After looking online, I have found several websites that I have bookmarked. I think I found a really good quality childrens acoustic guitar that she will love! Maybe we can even get her an early birthday gift. Now I just have to see if my husband is on board with this plan. I really believe that I have come full circle and it is a good feeling!
