Another Guitar?

We just got done buying our daughter Carrie a new beginner acoustic guitar as I mentioned in an earlier post when our older son mentioned that he had worn out his bass guitar and needed a new one.  It seems like we have spent quite a lot of money on him.   When he was Carrie’s age we did spend time looking at some really fun electric guitars for children.  We started him on a giraffe shaped kids electric guitar at the age of six but my how the times have changed!

Because we just bought Carrie a new childrens acoustic guitar our older son will just have to wait and so will his aspirations of playing in the big time!  After all he can still use the guitar he has right now.  I think it is important as parents to not reinforce the idea to our children  that life will serve their every need on a silver platter.  I want to please my kids but there have to be boundaries too.  Stay tuned for the next chapter!

Coming Full Circle!

I have been a lover of music my whole life.  I have sung in choirs for years.  I learned to play guitar when I was twelve years old and even wrote some of my own songs.  Some of the songs no one knows but me.  Singing those songs puts me back in touch with some very good memories.  Now my young daughter tells me that she too wants to play guitar and sing her own songs.  I am delighted to hear this and want to support her in any way I can.   Today they have so many more guitars for kids available then when I was her age.

After looking online, I have found several websites that I have bookmarked.  I think I found a really good quality childrens acoustic guitar that she will love!  Maybe we can even get her an early birthday gift.  Now I just have to see if my husband is on board with this plan.  I really believe that I have come full circle and it is a good feeling!

For The Love Of Guitar!

My daughter and I have a special bond, we always have.  Even thought she is only seven years old, I felt a kinship with her since the day she was born.  She has grown up listening to me play guitar and has watched me intently, (as if to study me) throughout her life.  I have even watched her pick up a tennis racquet and pretend to pluck and strum the strings only to stub her pinky finger (which resulted in a lot of tears but still didn’t deter her).  So I said to my wife ok, we need to do something about this, honor her passion and get her a beginner acoustic guitar for her eighth birthday.

I am having a lot of fun looking and searching for beginner acoustic guitars.  My wife has been looking too and we will soon compare notes and come up with a childrens acoustic guitar that is of good quality, affordable and irresistible to our young budding musician!   At this point, I seem to be just as excited as my daughter!

Our Many And Varied Family

I have five children who all have very different interests.  My two older sons play soccer, my middle daughter is a very good pianist and my youngest son loves riding his bike and wreaking havoc on our home any chance he gets.  My youngest daughter and the “baby of the family” says that she wants to learn guitar just like her father.  Her father, my husband has played acoustic and electric guitar with friends throughout the years at churches, wedding receptions, and local watering holes in our area.   My daughter is quite aware that she has a birthday in April and has decided that she wants an acoustic guitar!  I am game as long as she realizes that she needs to have balance in her life and be involved in other activities

My husband has many contacts and does know an awful lot about guitars.   He thinks that a childrens acoustic guitar would be perfect for our daughter and says that he know where to find discount childrens guitars that are quality products.   My husband is quite excited to give our daughter some proper instruction but realizes that she may need further lessons with someone who teaches on a more regular basis.

An Electric Guitar Primer

2761If you ask virtually any young child what instrument that would like to learn, the answer is almost always the same: guitar. When I asked my son what musical implement he would like to take up, he was no different than the majority of his peers. While I was excited to promote his love of music, I was less than enthused about the prospects of hearing an electric guitar amp from his room incessantly.

In order to gradually introduce him into the guitar world, I decided to look into some acoustic guitars for children. At first he was reluctant to play a model that wasn’t akin to the ones that he saw his favorite bands playing. After a while, however, he learned to appreciate the nuances of the acoustic instrument and has developed into an adept young musician. For his birthday this year, I think that I’ll let him upgrade to an electric model.

My Musical Daughter

little lady acoustic guitars for childrenMy daughter seems to show some natural musical ability.  As an infant she would tap the edge of her crib in a specific rhythm.  As a toddler when music was being played on the house my daughter would take her hand and clap to the beat or pretend she was playing the drums with whatever object was available.  She has watched both of her parents play guitar and she will start to sing and pretend to play the guitar at the same time.  My wife and I have begun to look at acoustic guitars for children as we feel that this would be the “perfect” birthday gift for her!

I love my daughter and want to teach her the importance of being the person she is truly meant to be.  If guitar isn’t it then so be it.  I know she will try on “many new hats” in her lifetime and this is fine with me, (provided they are decent and safe).  She really seems to love music and I do believe that a childrens acoustic guitar will make for a wonderful birthday!

little darling childrens acoustic guitarsI love music and can’t imagine my life without it.  It has been a part of my life since I was a toddler.  I started singing in the choir at the age of five and also played drums, piano and guitar ever since I can remember.  So I must say that I am thrilled that my children also seem to understand the joy that music brings.  My eldest son loves the drums and we bought him a kids drumset when he was six years old and he has been banging on the drums ever since.

This past Christmas my wife and I could see that my daughter is an aspiring musician and a childrens acoustic guitar would be the perfect gift for her.  We really had fun looking at all the different types of childrens acoustic guitars and we really had to narrow down our options as there are so many great guitars out there that are available for children.  The icing on the cake was to see her reaction on Christmas morning.  We are all so happy to see how much she really loves it and seems to possess some natural ability.  I believe that music is the “spice of life” and I am glad that my family can experience this wonderful outlet!

Honoring Your Child’s Hobbies Can Have Unexpected Benefits

susie childrens acoustic guitarsWell the holidays are over and the kids are back in school.  They are not happy about this but know that it is a part of life.  As a family we had a pretty nice Christmas and the kids for the most part seemed to really like their gifts.  They like their new clothes and my son just LOVES his new MP3 player!

We were able to get our daughter a childrens acoustic guitar that she just LOVES beyond measure.  My wife and I did a pretty exhaustive search for childrens acoustic guitars and finally agreed on one we felt was perfect for our daughter just in time for Christmas!   We are totally amazed at how much progress she has made in a short period of time.  We had purchased some books and DVD’s on learn to play guitar and she got through most of them in less than one week!  My daughter is more motivated than ever to get her homework and chores completed so she can play on her guitar and I must say that that has been an unexpected benefit!

Our Musical Christmas

music boy childrens acoustic guitarsWell the Christmas rush is now over and we can begin to relax a little more.  I feel that overall it was a success and my husband and I did a good job selecting gifts that our children seem to really like.  Our musically gifted son had asked for an acoustic guitar this Christmas and we weren’t sure at first because he already plays the cello but we figured that if he would practice the guitar the way he practices the cello, buying a childrens acoustic guitar would be a good purchase.  We really researched childrens acoustic guitars and were really pleased with what we saw!

Our son has been playing the guitar faithfully every day and has really been watching the learn to play guitar DVD’s that we bought him.  Our daughter is thrilled with her new Ipod and has been pretty much dancing all over the house!  Now my husband and I can relax and get ready for the new year.  So now I ask, How many more days until Spring?

The Joys of Fatherhood!

santa childrens drumsetsI love Christmas and I am especially happy that this year I think that we will have a white Christmas.  I really can’t wait until Christmas morning when my eight year old son sees the kids drumset that Santa has brought him.  My wife and I had a lot of fun looking at all the really cool childrens drumsets that are available today.  I have to admit that I am partial to the drums as I have enjoyed playing them for most of my life.

Last year we got a childrens acoustic guitar for our daughter and it has been a match made in heaven ever since.  I think our daughter will be a good influence as far as the need to practice and apply the same discipline in other areas of life, like school work.    I must admit that I am a little jealous as I wish that someone would get me a new drumset for Christmas!  I do however enjoy living vicariously through my children.
