Steel vs. Nylon Strings

When choosing a guitar for your child, do you an electric, acoustic or even a classical guitar.  If you want your child to play guitar there are many good quality cheap kids guitars available.  You could begin with a kids acoustic guitar which cost less.  There are two basic types of acoustic guitars: nylon-stringed and the steel-stringed.  Nylon-stringed guitars are easier on the fingertips because the strings are thicker and more flexible while steel strings can be pretty painful to play especially when the strings are taut.

The choice of guitar can actually depend on the music you want your child to play. Nylon strings are used for folk and classical music. Steel strings are best for rock, country and almost all other styles of music. Nylon strings produce a soft and classic sound of the guitar while the steel strings produce crisp and sharp sounds.  A common misconception about nylon guitars is that your fingers won’t get sore.   It is quite inevitable that young fingers get sore with both nylon and steel stringed guitars especially at the beginning.  Nylon strings are less dense than steel strings and therefore are a lot easier to push down to form the chord but steel strings can be pretty painful to push down since they are thinner and more difficult to push.  Both can take a lot of getting used to but are well worth it in the long run!

Learning to play the guitar, a cost effective venture

Learning to play an instrument has been proven to have amazing educational benefits in children. One of the most popular instruments for beginning musicians is the guitar. However, purchasing all the necessary equipment, like an amp, case and cables, can be an expensive venture.  For kids guitars costs are significantly less however with a tight budget parents should consider cheap kids guitars because they are often of very good quality.

For beginner guitar players, there are some easy ways to save money while you learn the ropes. Look for discounted models in online stores; avoid buying secondhand, because you can’t be sure of the quality.  Also, if you are just starting, you might want to purchase the guitar first and then go for the accessories after you or your child has played for awhile to see if it the guitar is right for you or your child.

Getting The Necessary Tools Without Going Into Debt

Have you ever listened to a recording of your own voice?  In today’s times we have the opportunity to hear our voice home movies, answering machines and voice mail.  When we hear our own voice in a recording we can have an array of responses from some mild apprehension to outright embarrassment.  Recording one’s voice can often prove beneficial as we often don’t   sound the way that we think we do. For a recording artist, being aware of how one’s voice sounds is absolutely essential!

Beginning guitar players can take advantage of the same technique when they practice. The best part is that the quality of the recording device doesn’t make much difference.   This is good news for beginning guitar players and parents who are just starting to have their child learn to play the guitar. So not only is there’s no need to spend hundreds of dollars on a pricy recorder but parents can consider cheap kids guitars and not sacrifice quality. The important thing is that the children learn to identify their mistakes through listening to their own work on their very own kids guitars!

Making Ends Meet!

It always seems like the cost of living gets worse and worse.  Each year we really struggle to make ends meet.  We try to save but somehow something comes up and we somehow manage to cut into our emergency fund.  With four kids it’s a struggle to make it in today’s times.  It seems that every time we turn around there’s another birthday and before we know it it’s time for Christmas!  Now that it’s almost September, we face the birthday of our youngest son.

We always have a difficult time with his birthday because it’s getting closer to Christmas and we need to start saving money for Christmas gifts.  What our son wants more than anything else in the world this year is a kids electric guitar!  We want to get this for him so very badly and are not sure if we will get him this for his birthday or Christmas.  Yesterday I did an internet search and I typed in cheap kids guitars.  I found some good deals and from what I can gather the guitars look to be of good quality.  I’m surprised because I really thought that we were going to have to spend more money!  As parents you do the best you can, say a prayer, cross your fingers and hope for the best!  I think our son will get his childrens electric guitar for his birthday!

S t r e t c h i n g That Dollar!

Summer is here again and for our family that means another batch of birthdays.  As luck would have it, all of my three children have birthdays over the summer.  My daughter has a birthday is July and both of my sons have birthdays is August.  I try to save up for this time of year but it is hard when you are on a tight budget.  My husband has been out of work for two years now and still can’t find a job so we have been supporting the entire family on my salary.  My husband does get some unemployment but it isn’t much.  Like so many Americans we try to make a dollar stretch as far as we can.

Our illustrious and musically gifted daughter says that she wants an electric guitar for her birthday in the worst way!  She says that if we get her a guitar for her birthday we don’t have to get her any Christmas gifts, WOW!  This kid is really serious.  Of course when Christmas rolls around, we will get her something.  I wasn’t so sure about spending money on an electric guitar but my husband says that because she is only ten and small for her age we could get her a kids electric guitar which would be a lot cheaper.  Ok, now you’re talking.  Thank God for the internet because after searching for cheap kids guitars, I see that we really do have more good quality childrens electric guitars to choose from than I originally thought.  My daughter will be happy to know that not only will she”score” on her birthday but Christmas isn’t looking too bad either!

What Is Most Important In Life

My kid has been bugging me and I mean BEGGING me to get him a beginner electric guitar!  As a single parent with four children things are tight.  I do what I can for my kids but they don’t get a lot of extras like some of their friends.  Gifts are primarily relegated to birthdays and Christmas.  Fortunately for my son he may not have to wait too long because he does have a birthday in July.    I cannot even think of getting him a kids guitar sooner than July!

The other day at work I did a search for cheap kids guitars and was pleasantly surprised at what I saw.  I think my son will be jamming away come July and that will make both of us quite happy as he will no longer be on my case about a guitar!  There are many gifts we can give to our children and not all of them have monetary value.  I only hope that my kids see that quality time spent together means more than anything.  If they don’t see this now I believe that in time they will.  It’s a never ending learning cycle for both parent and child!

Learning to “Have Your Cake and Eat It Too!”

So we just got through celebrating our daughter’s fourteenth birthday and as can happen, we spent more money then we should,(mostly because I left the shopping up to my husband).  Our youngest son will turn seven on April sixteenth and has informed us that what he wants most for his birthday is a kids guitar like his friend Billy.  My husband who wants to honor his children’s wishes is not sure he can honor this one.  I however am always the bargain hunter.  I know that I can look online and find cheap kids guitars that are good quality and my kid will adore!

It seems that my son has already told us exactly which guitar he wants and where to get it but what he doesn’t know is that I can probably find it elsewhere for half the price.   It always makes me feel good to see what bargains I can find.  I think I could make a living doing this for other people and just have a ball.  So I think my youngster will be ‘rockin out” on a very affordable childrens electric guitar pretty darn soon!

Feedback Is Encouraged

Back in the 1930s and ’40s, during the early days of the electric guitar, audio feedback was considered a detrimental sound to be eliminated in the interest of purifying the sound. The first solid-body electric guitars were invented for the express purpose of reducing feedback levels. Something changed in the 1960s, however. Innovators such as Jimi Hendrix and Pete Townshend began to cultivate the assortment of noises that could be produced by holding a guitar at varying distances from a guitar amplifier. I fondly remember my friends and me trying to imitate the trademark sound on our cheap electric guitars, to no avail.

Over time, this technique of perfecting a feedback loop to harmonious or dissonant effect was taken even further. The British rock band My Bloody Valentine released “Loveless” in 1991 – an album that utilized feedback in a way that made many people wonder how they could achieve such sounds with a mere guitar. Even more recently, Rage Against the Machine adopted a trademark “crunchy guitar” sound with the help of amp feedback.

pema cheap kids guitarsMy son has a big birthday coming up, he will be ten.  He thinks that this is a big deal as he will be embarking upon a new decade.  He was born in the year 2000 which my son feels and I do feel makes him special.  To commemorate this most special occasion, he would like to acquire an electric guitar!  Ok!  Despite the fact that we just got through Christmas, my wife and I believe that we will be able to get a guitar for him!  My friends have assured me that good quality cheap kids guitars are available!  After searching the internet last night, I believe that they are in fact correct!

My son sometimes feels that his birthday is forgotten as it falls so close to Christmas and Mom and Dad don’t have the finances that they might if his birthday fell later on in the year.  I do feel good that we are able to get a very quality and affordable cool guitar for our son.  Yes I think we will have a very happy ten year old very soon!

BoyPlayingGuitarAll I want for Christmas is a new guitar!  I don’t know how to make this message any more clear to my parents who seem to always get me something I don’t want or need!  Last year they bought me sweaters for school, some books and socks, SOCKS!  That was pretty much it!  I guess I have to make it EXTREMELY OBVIOUS what I really want for Christmas!  But my far too practical parents will probably say what they always seem to say “we can’t afford it!”  So I’m doing my homework Mom and Dad.

If you can’t find things cheap on the internet, you haven’t been looking very hard!  I mean come on, there are so many really cool cheap kids guitars online.  This year I will just sit my parents down and let them know that if they want to make me happy, a kids electric guitar is what I really want! Parents just don’t have a clue!  Now I need to find a way to get cheap beginner guitar lessons!  However knowing my parents, I better not push my luck!
