My Son’s Rockin Christmas!!

Everything is so expensive these days!  Just to make ends meet is hard enough let alone having some money left over to have some fun.  My youngest son wants an electric guitar in the worst way!  I would love nothing more than to be able to give him this special gift for Christmas but I am not really sure that it is in my budget either.  I have checked in several music stores but nothing looks affordable at the moment.

I just spoke with a friend who told me that electric guitars for children are not as costly as I might think and that to look online might be my best bet. This is good news because while I will find something to get my son for Christmas that he will like, a really cool beginner kids guitar will make him so happy!  I am now hopeful that my son will be able ‘to rock out’ like he’s always wanted to!

Life Without The Sound Of Music, Never!!!!

My husband has always loved country music, blue grass music and folk music.  His enthusiasm and joy now seems to have rubbed off on our youngest daughter.  My husband has played acoustic and electric guitar most of his life and our daughter seems to truly relish the time she gets to spend watching her father play.  We know that for Christmas this year we must surprise our daughter with her very own acoustic guitar!  My husband has some contacts who really know guitars and know where to find quality beginner kids guitars.

We are both thrilled to know that we can find a good affordable beginner kids guitar and have it picked out and ready well before Christmas!   Our oldest son also shares his father’s passion and owns his own acoustic guitar.    We also started him on a kids guitar with amazing results!  I could not imagine our lives without the sound of music!!

Your Very First Guitar!!

My ‘very cool’ daughter says that she wants an electric guitar in the worst way.  After a very persuasive argument she has actually convinced me that a beginner kids guitar would be a pretty good idea!  I am glad she is so enthusiastic and I just hope that I can find some ‘cool’ beginner childrens guitars in our price range.  My daughter assures me that we will find an affordable guitar  because she has a friend who got one last month and her dad is currently out of work.  I guess I’m game.

After looking online and talking to friends I think that kids guitars may in fact be more affordable than I had originally thought.  Her birthday is November 5th so I guess now is as good a time as any to get her this precious gift.  I must admit that I begged my folks for a guitar when I was her age but my oh so frugal parents made me wait until I was almost sixteen to get my first guitar.  Times seem to really have changed but when it’s all said and done, people stay pretty much the same.

Kids!!

Last year our youngest son told my husband and I that what he wanted most for his birthday was a beginner electric guitar.  We told him that we would ‘think’ about it, (a parent’s standard answer that is often given really just to get kids off their backs.)  Anyway, his birthday came and went and he unfortunately did not get his beloved kids electric guitar.  As his birthday approaches this year he’s gotten a little wiser and has employed his older brother to do the bargaining for him!

Our older son has tried to give us the selling points of getting a beginner kids guitar for his kid brother.  We really have to admire their persistence and because of it we will look into the matter further.  I guess we had just ruled it out because of cost but it appears that it may not be as expensive as we had originally thought.  The hard work of both our sons may have really paid off.  He might just have his best birthday yet!!

Tips For The Beginner Guitar Player

It is important to find a good quality guitar one that fits the body and is not too difficult to play.  Guitar size is very important for children who want to play guitar. Because of the variety of kids guitars a child can often find a beginner kids guitar that is a good fit. Now that you have already purchased a guitar you will probably be exploring ways to begin your musical journey. The Internet is probably one of the best places to look for free online guitar lessons.  One could enroll with a guitar teacher, purchase guitar books or simply learn the guitar at the comfort of your home with video or online guitar lessons. Getting the guitar tuned is the most basic thing that a guitarist must know.  Very often, beginner guitarists have problems tuning the guitar because their aural skills are not well developed yet. One simple way to overcome this issue is to purchase a chromatic tuner to aid you in tuning the instrument.

A better understanding of the guitar starts from having knowledge of the different parts of the guitar. Understanding the different parts of the guitar and how they work, helps one have a better grasp of guitar techniques such as palm muting and whammy bar. The greatest advances have been made in the guitar instruction and are now available on the internet. There are subscription based sites where you can have access to hundreds of lessons, including audio, video, and written materials. There are also many good learn to play guitar software packages you can get. Many of them are instantly downloadable, and allow you to be learning how to play your six stringed axe within a very short period of time.  Best of luck!

The Apple Of My Eye!

What father doesn’t want to spoil their little girl?  I love my two sons and I have a very special relationship with both of them but a daughter is a whole other kettle of fish.   My sweet little eight year old daughter is a “daddy’s girl” and she knows it!  She also knows that she has me wrapped around her little finger!  She has been begging me for months to get her a childrens electric guitar.  She knows that her older brother plays bass guitar and that I played acoustic guitar “back in the day” and she figures that the guitar is a valued possession in our family.

My wife warns me that finances are tight since she got laid off from her job six months ago.  I have always been the less thrifty one in our marriage.  I have however been showing her websites that feature beginner kids guitars that are very affordable.  I think I am starting to convince my wife that kids guitars are more affordable than she thought because the other day she told me she saw a beginner kids guitar she thought was really cute and our daughter would love!  I am delighted because my daughter will be nine in June and I know she will have a Very Happy Birthday!

Honoring Your Child’s Musical Passions!

As a parent you need to be on the look for your children’s special skills and abilities as well as their hidden talents.  It seems to me that our young son could be on his way to a budding music career.  He has shown some natural ability singing in the choir, playing the drums and now expresses an interest in learning guitar.  As luck would have it, he has a birthday coming up next month.  I have already begun my search for beginner kids guitars as a kids guitar seems to be perfect for his age.

I spoke to my brother who says that he too bought a beginner kids guitar for his eldest son and he claims that the quality of this guitar was first rate.  Even though his son no longer plays and gave his guitar to his younger cousin, he recommends this guitar highly!   I am not sure if my son will stick with the guitar but I know he has musical ability and I am happy to let him explore this love!   Isn’t that my job as a parent.

Buying a First Guitar

cheap kids guitarsWhen you buy your child their first guitar, there are some important attributes to consider. Obviously you want to ensure that the instrument is the correct size for your child. Many models are too big for children and will inhibit their ability to reach the proper tabs and fingerings.

The next thing to consider is price. Since this is their first instrument, it is probably wise to simply invest in cheap kids guitars so that they have something to cut their teeth on. Just because the price isn’t high doesn’t mean that you have to skimp on quality; there are many excellent models available that don’t carry an excessive price tag.

learn guitar amatuer guitarsYou can get sucked into learning to play the guitar in all the wrong ways.  The best way to learn guitar quickly is to ensure that your lessons are taking you where you want and give you enough tuition to last you a long time.  Here are two ideas to keep in mind when learning to play guitar:

Guitar Chords For Beginners: Even if you already know most of the basic guitar chords, going back to basics is bound to highlight something new that would have been useful to know first time around.   This is especially helpful for children who will likely begin learning on a beginner kids guitar and need to acquire a good skill set from the start.

Standard Guitar Tuition: Learning the basics on guitar may make you think it’s going to be boring. The tuition that’s available these days is interactive and keeps you more involved that the music theory books of decades ago ever could. If you’ve not already had a look at online lessons, you should try this and see how it increases your learning rate.  There are many amateur guitars available on line that are affordable and of good quality.  Learning to play guitar can be quite affordable and fun!

The Joy of Learning and Instrument!

kids guitarMy youngest daughter Katie is asking for guitar lessons.  She has decided that it is her mission in life and she will play the guitar in a band or do a solo act.  Katie is eight years old and so I want to look for beginner guitar lessons for her.  My second task is to get her a beginner kids guitar!  I have been looking around for some good deals and will probably be able to find her one by Christmas.  It is my goal in life to make my kids happy because the more well adjusted they are now the more likely they will be to grow up to become productive adults.

I am a strong believer that learning to play an instrument can teach discipline but also help your child express his or her creativity in a healthy way!  My older son Daniel has spent many years learning how to play the trumpet and I am so glad that kids instruments are available so that children can experience the joy of music at a young age!   Soon my house will be filled with the sound of music!  I can hardly wait!
