The Importance of Good Posture

Posture as we know is very important when learning to play an instrument properly.  When playing the drums good posture can mean the difference between kicking out a steady beat and creating a lackadaisical framework for more sloppy music to build from. Posture is just as important when practicing the beginner kids guitar. There are two primary positions that are appropriate for practicing the electric guitar.

Both positions call for one foot to be slightly elevated. In the casual position, a right-handed guitar is placed on the right thigh, with the right foot elevated. In the classical position, the neck of the guitar is tilted upright, with the guitar perched on the left thigh and the right left leg elevated. The proper positions for classical guitars differ slightly because the right hand should be better positioned for picking.

When Your Birthday Is So Close To Christmas!

My son has a special birthday coming up, he will be ten.  We believe as does he that it is a big deal!  To commemorate this most special landmark, he would like to acquire an electric guitar!  Ok!  Despite the fact that we just got through Christmas, my husband and I believe that we will be able to get a beginner kids guitar for him!  My friends have assured me that good quality discount childrens guitars are available!  After searching the internet last night, I believe that I have found some options that our budding musician will love and won’t break the budget!

My son sometimes feels that his birthday is forgotten as it falls so close to Christmas and Mom and Dad don’t have the finances that they might if his birthday fell later on in the year. I believe that we do the best we can to not ‘short’ him and this year will be no exception.  Yes I think we will have a very happy ten year old very soon!

As a practical mom I want my kids to pick careers and hobbies that will serve them well later in life.  The hobbies that my children have chosen up to this point include: playing the flute and saxophone and running on the cross country team.  I only begin to raise eyebrows when my children begin to talk about making music a career which seems like quite a long shot to me.  Now my youngest daughter says that she will be a ‘rock star’ no matter what.  We decided to honor her request for an electric guitar and after an exhaustive search got her a beginner kids guitar for Christmas that she absolutely LOVES!!!

I am happy for my daughter but am hoping and praying that this wish to be a rock star is only a passing phase.  I know that I need to be supportive of my children and I guess that if they are TRULY successful and happy in life, then I will support them. My daughter is a good kid and seems to have a good head on her shoulders and momma just needs to STOP WORRYING and let her kid have FUN!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Christmas day is here and if we haven’t made the right decisions regarding gift selection there’s no second guessing it now.  In particular we are excited to give our ambitious and happy go lucky daughter a beginner kids guitar!  We know how much she enjoys the guitar and so we began searching for beginner childrens guitars a month ago to find the best fit for our daughter.    We also purchased some learn to play guitar DVD’s and books that seem like they would be very helpful for her.

Every year we rack our brains for the perfect gifts we know our children will love.  I think that for the most part we do a pretty good job and I feel sure that a childrens acoustic guitar will be a HUGE hit with our daughter!  We wish you a Merry Christmas.  We wish you a Merry Christmas.  We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Counting down the days til Christmas!

My daughter has been a musical enthusiast ever since the day she was born.  She would bang on the side of her crib in a succinct rhythm as a toddler and then as she got older she would tap the table and make an attempt to strum a book or a magazine.  Now at the age of five, we are so excited to have purchased a beginner kids guitar for our aspiring little rocker!  My husband was all for it!  We really had a ball looking at all the kids electric guitars available online!

Christmas is less than a week away and we are the most excited of all the gifts we’ve bought to give the guitar to our daughter!   We want to support her interests and I don’t know if being a musician is in her future but we do know that we will have a lot of fun along the way!

What Will Be On Santa’s Sleigh?

My son wants an electric guitar in the WORST way!  He assures me that Santa has a REALLY big sleigh this year and is sure to have plenty of room for a kids guitar!  What my son may not realize is that we are still in a recession and Santa too may be affected by this, (parts may just be too expensive  this year).  Perhaps this elf better begin looking at some discount kids guitars

My brilliant husband seems to be amused by it all.  So in addition to looking for Ipods, a new Wii and inline skates, it looks like a beginner kids guitar just might make it onto Santa’s sleigh after all!  Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

As a practical mom I want my kids to pick hobbies and interests that they will enjoy and will also serve them later in life.  I am happy that they have chosen musical hobbies like playing flute and saxophone.  I only feel concerned when they talk about making music a career which seems like quite a long shot to me.  Now my youngest daughter says that she WILL be the next Hannah Montana no matter what.  We have decided to honor her request for an electric guitar and after an exhaustive search for beginner childrens guitars.  We finally found a really cute beginner kids guitar that she will be more thrilled than ever to get on Christmas day!

I am happy for my daughter but am hoping and praying that this wish to be a rock star is just one of her passing phases.  I know that I need to be supportive of my children and I guess that if they are TRULY successful and happy in life, then I will support them.  I know we will have a very happy little girl on Christmas morning!

Doing My Job As a Parent

As a parents we need to be on the lookout for our children’s special skills and abilities as well as their hidden talents.  For instance I believe that my young daughter could be on her way to a budding music career.  She has actually shown some natural ability singing in the choir, playing the violin and now expresses an interest in learning to play guitar.  With Christmas just around the corner,  I have already begun my search for kids guitars as an acoustic guitar seems to be perfect for her age.

I spoke to my brother who says that he too bought a beginner kids guitar for his eldest son and he claims that the quality of this guitar was first rate.  Despite the fact that his son isn’t playing guitar anymore and actually gave the guitar to his neighbor, he recommends this guitar highly!   I am not sure if my daughter will stick with the guitar but I know she truly has musical ability and I am happy to let her explore this love as much as she need to!   Isn’t that my job as a parent?

Our Fast Paced World!!

I was so happy at my grandson’s tenth birthday party.  He turned ten with a vengeance and having grandchildren has been the highlight of my golden years.  I am amazed at the technology today and how times have changed.  My daughter told me that my grandson wanted a kids acoustic guitar and she immediately began looking for acoustic guitars for children on the internet.  I was amazed that she actually found exactly what she wanted within a matter of a couple of hours!  My how times have changed!  The world seems to  have become so fast paced!

At my daughter’s suggestion, I bought my grandson some iTunes and that seemed to make him happy as well as some DVD’s and songbooks for his new beginner kids guitar.  I wish my wife was still alive to see how times have changed because she always couldn’t wait to see what they were going to come up with next.  I know that she would be so fascinated with technology and the internet!  I guess in some ways the world is always changing but people still remain essentially the same!

Honoring Our Child’s Musical Ability

As parents we need to be involved with our children and be aware to their unique skills and abilities as well as hidden talents.  Our young son has shown an interest in music since he was a toddler and would sing and hum to his heart’s content, in his crib, in the grocery store and would give a solo in church without being prompted,( and much to the dismay of others in the congregation).  He has shown some natural singing ability in his school choir, and now expresses an interest in learning to play guitar.  My wife and I agree that a beginner kids guitar might be the perfect gift for him!  We have already begun searching in earnest for guitars for kids

I spoke to my sister who says that she too bought a beginner kids guitar for her eldest daughter ands he claims that the quality of this guitar was first rate.  Even though she no longer plays  guitar as she is now away at college, she recommends the guitar highly!   I am not sure if my son will stick with the guitar but I know he has musical ability and I am happy to let him explore this love!   What else is a parent to do?
