We have been looking for a new innovative gift to get our eight year old son for his birthday that doesn’t necessarily correspond with the ‘digital’ age which sometimes inhibits kids from using their creativity. Our son has said that he wants to learn to play an instrument and has been ‘hinting’ that he’d like to learn how to play guitar. He also loves rock music. My very clever and resourceful wife began researching beginner childrens guitars. She is really ‘in love’ with the idea of getting him one and has at least five beginner guitars picked out that she’s sure our son will be ‘over the moon’ about!
Upon further investigation my wife and I actually both agree on the same beginner childrens guitar that we feel is the best deal for the very best price! My wife and I are SO excited that WE can hardly wait for our son’s birthday so much so that we may even go out and purchase amateur guitars for ourselves! Ahh to be young again!!!
Parents wanting their children to learn to play guitar might consider a second hand guitar for their child. When looking at used beginner guitars an electric guitar may be a good choice as acoustic guitars can be bulky and hard for small hands to press down. Acoustic guitar strings are also thicker and can hurt fingers after a very short time of playing. With the correct set up an electric guitar can be played comfortably by youngsters and/or new guitarists. Every time your child plays their amateur guitar they are practicing whether it sounds like music or not which reinforces them to keep playing. Taking lessons is a great way for children to learn the basics although there is something to be said about learning to play guitar online. For one thing learning guitar online can be a real cost saver.
Tablature is a number system that represents the string and position on the fret board that you press. This might be more beneficial for the older guitar player and a bit challenging for youngsters. There are many websites to learn from and tablature can be an easy way because the guitarist may never have to learn to read music. The tab sites can offer lessons, tips, and information that one can’t get from a teacher. However there is often no substitute for a live teacher who can teach a student different styles and offer lots of encouragement. Best of luck!
I love being a father! I love my 2 sons more than anything! As far as my daughter, words can’t even describe my love for her! I think that I feel such a protectiveness toward her that if anybody ever hurt her I don’t know what I’d do! I guess you could truly say that she is ‘Daddy’s little girl!” My sons are also protective of her and growing up with a younger sister I can relate to this. She will turn eight at the end of this summer and she is SO very excited about this! There is nothing more special than the innocence of a child!
We are a family of musicians who take a great liking to country, folk and blue grass music. My two sons and I express this love by playing acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin and the banjo! Our little girl wants to be a part of the family tradition so we have decided to purchase beginner acoustic guitar for her birthday. I know that she will be very excited about this! She has plenty of people around her who can offer instruction, including some aunts and uncles. My son works part-time at a music store and has access to some really good deals on beginner guitars. We are a very close knit family and I’m glad that we seem to share some of the same passions. We are SO very fortunate!
It appears that my daughter is falling in my footsteps to some degree. She shares my love of technology and always wants to be “in the know” about what is the new thing on the market. She also seems to be musically gifted and wants to learn to play guitar. I also learned to play beginner acoustic guitar close to the age my daughter is now. I think the best I can do for her is to start her out on a beginner guitar. Sometimes it is easier to learn to play electric guitar before trying to master the acoustic guitar.
Because I have a lot of contacts and know some musicians, I have some good leads on where to find some quality beginner guitars. I can instruct my daughter but I think it would be best if I got someone unbiased to instruct her. I feel very lucky and blessed that I can share this special bond with my daughter. I look forward to what the future holds!
My daughter loves music and seems to have a good sense of rhythm and timing. She has always loved music class at school and has stood out as a good performer in church choir. As of late she seems to be focusing on the guitar and her wish to learn to play both acoustic and electric guitar. I am for this idea even though it is a struggle to accommodate my children’s needs as a single parent. My oldest son said that he can help me search online for a beginner guitar that will be more affordable than if we tried to buy one at a local music store.
As a single mom I am pretty lucky to have good kids who are more than willing to be of help and who do try to understand that in our house money doesn’t exactly “grow on trees”. My daughter will want to take guitar lessons and she knows that we might not be able to afford them right away. She told me that there are guitar lessons online for kids with beginner guitars. It is nice to see that there are so many affordable opportunities for children learning to play the kids guitar. Life isn’t always easy but I do believe that when there is a will there truly is a way!
After deciding to take guitar lessons you first need to find a guitar that is suitable for you. Do you want to play electric or acoustic? There are many different beginner guitars to choose from. After you decide which type of guitar you want to play then you have the choice of deciding what style of lessons you want. You can take lessons from an instructor or learn how to play guitar from courses on the internet. Just remember that no matter what type of lessons you take, there are certain fundamental things to keep in mind in order to become a good guitar player.
First and foremost, it is absolutely essential that you know how to tune your guitar. Every guitar player should start to play guitar with the knowledge of how to tune it. As a guitar player you must know where to place your hands. For guitar beginners it’s so important to learn how to hold the guitar and place your hands correctly. All musicians should learn to read music. The notation and tabs are the international language for all musicians from around the world. Strumming techniques are essential if the guitar player wants to play rhythm in his music. For beginners finger picking is an extremely important skill to learn even if you choose to play electric guitar. Finally you cannot be a good guitar player if you do not learn how to play basic chords and chord progressions which will help you learn actual songs. Best of luck in this very fun and worthwhile hobby!
Our son informed us that he recently signed up for guitar lessons being given at school with his best friend. He really seems to want to do this and I guess my husband and I will start to look at beginner guitars that we can afford. This might be easier said than done. We have been shopping and looking online and took our son with us yesterday. He agrees that it would be good to start with a beginner guitar.
Finances are tight right now and we are hoping that our son can contribute to the cost of this amateur guitar. He is willing to do whatever it takes because he really wants to learn guitar with his friend. I think it’s a good chance to show our son that if you really want something in life it’s worth working for!
Yes today is Valentine’s Day and my husband and I will exchange gifts later and I am cooking a special dinner for him and our family. What my unsuspecting son doesn’t know is that he will get a special gift too. We exchange small gifts on Valentine’s Day but we did go all out for our son. That is because we had ordered a kids electric guitar and the order was cancelled because the site we ordered the guitar from was out of stock and on back order. We were disappointed that we couldn’t get that particular guitar as a Christmas gift for our son. But the guitar is here now and I know that he will be happier than ever!
We looked at many beginner guitars and we know the one he got will “rock his socks off!” Our oldest son has been a rocker himself and is putting together a band with his friends. He will be thrilled! I don’t think he will want his little brother to join him onstage but I’m sure he will give his little bro some tips. Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!
January can be such a “blah” month. However I must say that one of the highlights for me is celebrating my baby girl’s birthday, (she will be eight years young this year!) We just celebrated Christmas and my daughter knows that sometimes she can’t get everything she wants because we just spent a good bit of money at Christmas. However just prior to Christmas my wife and I researched beginner guitars as we knew that our daughter would love to learn to play guitar. After a long search, (we wanted to find a good quality guitar that was in our price range), we found a beginner childrens guitar that we believe she will love! We’ll know for sure on January 27th.
About six years ago we bought a kids drumset for our oldest son and it was quite a hit! He plays drums in a band with three of his closest friends. We are delighted that he does in fact plan to go to college. My kids have grown up with music and as both my wife and I have performed in a band at our church. We are holding our breath but also looking forward to January 27th!
I have been playing the guitar for years and have gotten more joy from it than I thought was ever possible. I am most happy when I can share this joy with others. My niece Molly seems to share my passion and it is quite a bonding experience for us! Her birthday is this coming January and already know what I want to get her. I have a nice collection of acoustic and electric guitars and have even given Molly a couple of lessons! She loves to jam on my favorite Gibson electric guitar!
I want to get Molly a guitar that is more age appropriate and one that also fits her size. I am trying to decide on several short scale electric bass guitars. I am very pleased with the selection of beginner guitars that are out there! Who knows, maybe Molly and I will be playing together at coffee houses in the not too distant future!
