My daughter is a great kid and we have loved being her parents despite all the difficulties “parenthood” can bring. You see our daughter has had a lot of challenges and difficulties that have at times have lead her down a rocky road. She has dealt with learning disabilities in both math and reading requiring special accommodations at school and a lot of tutoring. At the age of eight she was diagnosed with ADHD and we have spent A LOT of time with therapists and behavior specialists to try and give her structure and teach her behavior modification. It has been very trying but as parents we delight in her growth and progress and because of all of the struggles, her progress means that much more to us!
When our daughter was eight years old we bought her a kids electric guitar at the recommendation of one of her trusted therapists who encouraged us to have her learn to play an instrument. It was a wonderful suggestion as it not only taught her a skill but also helped to teach her the values of patience and the feeling of satisfaction of having learned to play a new song! Now as she enters the pre-teens, she is asking us for an amateur guitar, since she has outgrown the 31 inch guitar we bought her five years ago. I think it is a very valid request and we will look for a very good quality beginner guitar. We are in it for the LONG haul and no matter what we will do whatever it takes to enhance the quality of her life and therefore the quality of our family’s life. God bless!
It appears that my daughter is falling in my footsteps to some degree. She shares my love of technology and always wants to be “in the know” about what is the new thing on the market. She also seems to be musically gifted and wants to learn to play guitar. I also learned to play beginner acoustic guitar close to the age my daughter is now. I think the best I can do for her is to start her out on a beginner guitar. Sometimes it is easier to learn to play electric guitar before trying to master the acoustic guitar.
Because I have a lot of contacts and know some musicians, I have some good leads on where to find some quality beginner guitars. I can instruct my daughter but I think it would be best if I got someone unbiased to instruct her. I feel very lucky and blessed that I can share this special bond with my daughter. I look forward to what the future holds!
My daughter loves music and seems to have a good sense of rhythm and timing. She has always loved music class at school and has stood out as a good performer in church choir. As of late she seems to be focusing on the guitar and her wish to learn to play both acoustic and electric guitar. I am for this idea even though it is a struggle to accommodate my children’s needs as a single parent. My oldest son said that he can help me search online for a beginner guitar that will be more affordable than if we tried to buy one at a local music store.
As a single mom I am pretty lucky to have good kids who are more than willing to be of help and who do try to understand that in our house money doesn’t exactly “grow on trees”. My daughter will want to take guitar lessons and she knows that we might not be able to afford them right away. She told me that there are guitar lessons online for kids with beginner guitars. It is nice to see that there are so many affordable opportunities for children learning to play the kids guitar. Life isn’t always easy but I do believe that when there is a will there truly is a way!
We recently bought our son an amateur guitar. We did a lot of research before we purchased this guitar and we have been very pleased with what we have gotten. It does pay to do your homework. There are really some great deals out there! It is also well worth the money when you find a gift for someone that they really value. Our son has been taking lessons online and seems to be learning rather quickly. I think if it were up to him he’d practice morning, noon and night.
I am so glad we decided to get our son a beginner guitar because it seems to have paid off in some very unexpected ways. He seems more focused and disciplined and generally in a better mood. I think it’s important to nurture your child’s passion and help him or her turn it into a positive experience. We haven’t been this lucky with every purchase for our children but it does feel good that the beginner electric guitar has been such a hit!
Our son informed us that he recently signed up for guitar lessons being given at school with his best friend. He really seems to want to do this and I guess my husband and I will start to look at beginner guitars that we can afford. This might be easier said than done. We have been shopping and looking online and took our son with us yesterday. He agrees that it would be good to start with a beginner guitar.
Finances are tight right now and we are hoping that our son can contribute to the cost of this amateur guitar. He is willing to do whatever it takes because he really wants to learn guitar with his friend. I think it’s a good chance to show our son that if you really want something in life it’s worth working for!
In the past if you wanted to learn how to play the guitar, you either had to teach yourself utilizing a variety of printed manuals or schedule an appointment with a guitar instructor. Many people often have a hard time being able to successfully schedule lessons with a guitar instructor, or be able to afford the ongoing tuition fees. Today, online guitar lessons have become the preferable option for a lot of people who simply don’t have the time or money for a one-on-one guitar teacher as well as for those who are simply not able to learn just by using a guitar instruction book. You can replay certain lessons over and over again until you have mastered the skills that are being taught.
Learning to play guitar online or through the use of a DVD can be a great way to learn to play amateur guitar. There are a lot of different types of amateur guitars that are available to enhance the learning process which are affordable and of good quality. More and more people seem to be choosing to learn to play guitar online. Learning online and/or with a DVD can prove incredibly useful for busy people who sometimes cannot do as much guitar practicing as they would like and who need to review and refresh material before moving on. In short, online guitar lessons have revolutionized the way beginner guitar lessons are taught
There are many different types of guitar lessons for beginners. First you will want to purchase a good quality beginner guitar. The easiest (and cheapest) way to learn to play guitar is from the internet or a DVD. It is sometimes best to start with an acoustic guitar because you won’t have to worry about an amplifier and it’s a better way to make your hands strong and accustomed to the fretboard. Other ways you can learn is to go to a music store and ask for lessons, go to a private teacher, or even have a teacher come to your home. Whatever you do, just take it slowly. Try to get comfortable with having a guitar in your lap. You will want to learn to tune your guitar properly. Standard tuning for a 6-string guitar is E-B-G-D-A-E (starting from the bottom, string 1, to the top, string 6).
Next you should start by learning some basic chords. Then practice switching between the chords. After you start feeling comfortable with your fingers on the guitar then it is time to just learn more and more chords, scales, theory, and of course reading music. In closing, practice, practice, practice. The more time you invest, the better you will get. There are endless lessons to learn in order to master the guitar. But do not give up. If you are truly interested it will all be worth it in the end.
Christmas was almost a month ago and my son’s love for his new beginner electric guitar has not waned. He got a guitar for Christmas and my husband and I agree now more than ever that the money was well spent. At times we have to nudge him to get other things done, like homework but I am happy that he seems to love playing so much. He really appears to be a quick learner and I know he hopes to play in a band in the not too distant future.
I am always happy to see my kids so happy and my husband and I were delighted when our daughter recently developed a love for horseback riding. I am glad that the beginner guitar has been such a hit with my son but even more, it’s just so great to see him smile!
Your kids are only young once and it just seems like they grow up before you know it! Where did the time go? Was it just yesterday that we took the training wheels off my now sixteen year old son’s bicycle? Now more than ever my husband and I seem to want to relish the growing years of our five year old son before he loses that all too precious childlike joy! This Christmas he told Santa that a new guitar would make him the most happy. My husband and I weren’t sure quite where to find the best quality but also affordable beginner childrens guitars. The internet proved to be quite a help to us. We finally both agreed on a panda shaped guitar that we knew our son would love!!
Christmas morning arrived and presenting our son with this beginner guitar proved to be the highlight of Christmas for us! I don’t think I have ever seen someone more excited in my life and believe me his joy is OUR joy! We can tolerate the noise because it just seems to make him SO happy! When he gets a little older should he still be interested in guitar, (and all indications make it appear that he will be), we will have him take guitar lessons. May 2010 be your best year yet!
One of my favorite hobbies is attending concerts and musical performances throughout my community. While many people only attend big ticket events, I enjoy the intimacy of smaller venues and discovering new artists. Although the stage show and peripheral aspects of a big name band are amazing, there is something special about witnessing lesser known musicians.
While many performers insist that they are amateur guitar players or musicians, they often display an impressive musical prowess. Especially with the litany of music available today, fame is not necessarily indicative of a performer’s skill or potential. Many of my favorite musical acts are musicians that most people have never heard of and will never be played on the radio.
