Money Well Spent!!

Christmas was almost two weeks  ago and my son’s love for his new beginner electric guitar has not waned.  He got a guitar for Christmas and my wife and I agree now more than ever that the money was well spent. I had such a ‘ball’ searching for childrens guitars and I found a great deal that  now feels even greater as I see how much my son enjoys playing!  At times we have to nudge him to get other things done, like keeping his room cleaned but I am happy that he seems to enjoy it so much!  He really appears to be a quick learner and I know he hopes to play in a band in the not too distant future.

I am always happy to see my kids so happy and my wife and I were delighted when our daughter recently developed a love for playing the cello.  I am glad that the beginner guitar has been such a hit with my son but even more, it’s just so great to see him smile!

Rockin Out On Christmas Morning!

My little girl has been begging me for guitar lessons for quite some time now.  She will be turning eight in January and of course Christmas will be here before we know it!! I have begun looking at guitars for kids online.  She is a good kid and I think that she is excited about learning to play an instrument.  I even have somebody in mind to instruct her that my girlfriend used to teach her son.  My son plays electric guitar and my daughter has looked up to him for years.  We started him out with a beginner electric guitar and off he went!

I am happy when my children are happy as long as they keep their hobbies in perspective and live well balanced lives.  My husband is also very supportive.  Life isn’t always easy but we do try to take stock of the many blessings that we do have.  We look forward to future “jam” session with both of our musical children which may start as early as Christmas morning!!  We’ll see.

C’est La Vie!!

My loving mother wants to spoil her grandchildren and she knows her youngest grandaughter has a special birthday coming up, (after all it’s not every day that a girl gets to face a new decade and turn ten years old!)  My mother says that more than anything she wants to get something that her granddaughter really wants for her birthday.  Since my father died three years ago her focus has been even more on the expected task of “spoiling the grandchildren”.  We told her the other day that what our daughter wants the very most of all is a ‘really cool’ beginner electric guitar!   Her initial reaction was, “I’m not going to get a crazy guitar for any granddaughter that isn’t very feminine.”  However when I spoke to her today she says that if we pick out the guitar we think our daughter will like, then he will gladly pay for it!

Now my husband and I have the fortunate task of picking out the best kids electric guitar we can find.  Since our older son has also played amateur guitar he has already given us some suggestions.  I think this will be fun and as a family we can make this a project that we work on together.  If only we could all be turning ten years old again.  Yes it does appear to be true that youth is wasted on the youth! I guess c’est la vie!

What do you do with a very limited budget and a kid who swears that the only thing he wants most for his birthday is a beginner electric guitar!  At first I said, “no way, No Way, NO WAY!”  But then upon further investigation I began to discover that there are some very affordable beginner electric guitars online!  I just want to let parents know that there are some great websites that actually do promote cheap electric guitars!

Mom and Dad will be good this year after all I just hope that we can also find some cheap ‘kittens’ for our little girl as well!  Maybe one of our children will get us a ‘cheap’ mortgage on a  new house!

For The Love Of Music!!!

I have the happiest kid on the block right now since that fateful day in July when we bought him a kids electric guitar for his birthday!   After months and months of cajoling from him we finally gave him the good news that we would get him a beginner electric guitar for his birthday and told him that he could help pick it out!  I must admit that it was fun looking at all the different kinds of kids guitars available  Much to our surprise we found one that we all agreed on and that doesn’t usually happen!

So now he plays and plays and plays and then plays some more!!! I am glad about this except that the noise can be a bit much at times.  We just recently got a ¾ guitar case so we can protect this precious guitar that we invested so much in!  There also seem to be quite an array of guitar cases for kids.  We are glad to see our son so happy and know that he will feel even more a part of the family as his brother plays the drums and his sister plays the violin and also sings in choir.  Who knows, maybe we will even start our own family band!

Finding Your Passion Makes Life’s Journey A Little Easier!!

My very dear son will turn fifteen in October and I want to get him what he wants the very most, a beginner electric guitar!  He has shown some musical ability from an early age and we supported him when he wanted to play the drums at the age of seven.  We bought him a kids drum set and he literally beat the thing to death!!  Now I want to support his love of guitar and begin looking at amateur guitars.

Instead of surprising my son, I will take him with me to pick out the amateur guitar he really wants!  He is looking forward to this and it may take several outings to find the beginner guitar that we want the most.  My goal is to help my kids find their passion because life is hard enough but the journey is made easier if you can do things you genuinely enjoy along the way!

Letting Your Spirit Soar!!!

My nephew clearly has musical talent.  This has been obvious for many years now.  From singing to any instrument he has attempted to learn, (i.e. piano, violin) he has excelled without much difficulty.  For the past three years he has been ‘dying’ to get his hands on his own electric guitar.  He has borrowed guitars form friends including a hand me down from me but the boy really needs his own beginner electric guitar!!  I love his parents dearly but they don’t seem to understand the importance of investing money in an amateur guitar because the kid is so talented and his love of guitar is not just a ‘passing phase’!

As an uncle I must not “overstep my bounds” but my nephew and I are so close that I really feel like a big brother to him!  If I speak with my brother I know he’ll back me if I buy my nephew a beginner guitar for his birthday in November.  You might even say it’s a combined birthday/Christmas present.  I want nothing more than the very best for my nephew and hope that he can be the person he was truly meant to be!  I think playing guitar might help him be able to express himself in a way he never has before.  We’ll see!

Last year our youngest son told my husband and I that what he wanted most for his birthday was a beginner electric guitar.  We told him that we would ‘think’ about it, (a parent’s standard answer that is often given really just to get kids off their backs.)  Anyway, his birthday came and went and he unfortunately did not get his beloved kids electric guitar.  As his birthday approaches this year he’s gotten a little wiser and has employed his older brother to do the bargaining for him!

Our older son has tried to give us the selling points of getting a beginner kids guitar for his kid brother.  We really have to admire their persistence and because of it we will look into the matter further.  I guess we had just ruled it out because of cost but it appears that it may not be as expensive as we had originally thought.  The hard work of both our sons may have really paid off.  He might just have his best birthday yet!!

Like Father Like Son

My husband thinks that my son shows great aptitude to play guitar.  Ever since my husband has been giving our son guitar lessons , he really sees great  musical ability in our son.  My husband has been busy pricing beginner electric guitars.  This will come as quite a surprise and a rather special gift for our son’s upcoming fifteenth birthday.  Yesterday at work I began a search online for fun.  I think I may have found a beginner electric guitar that our son will like that is even more in our price range then what my husband has been able to find.

I tend to be the frugal one in the family and if I can find a good product for a better price I will.  If our son wants to learn to play amateur guitar then I’m all for it just as long as we stay in our price range.  I’m glad that this has been such a bonding experience between father and son and will more than likely continue to be throughout there lives!

Women!

As a father of three girls, I have certainly become educated about the opposite sex.  I’m not complaining mind you because I think it creates an interesting challenge for me.  Actually in some ways I think I have more patience and understanding for my girls than my wife does!    I’m sometimes known as the ‘mediator” in the family and try and keep peace in the family not only between all three daughters but my wife and my daughters as well.  I wonder how different things would be if I had sons?  After it’s all said and done I wouldn’t have it any other way, I really wouldn’t!

Our middle daughter has taken quite a liking to the guitar!  I must say, she gets this desire honestly, I too am a great enthusiast of the guitar and have played acoustic and electric guitar for many years!  She is more than positive that what she most wants for her birthday is a beginner electric guitar!  My wife has concerns about her beginning to play guitar so young, (our daughter will turn ten in August).  I assured her that she is old enough and that there are many manufacturers today that make good quality guitars for kids that are well within our price range!  Someone has to be the stabilizing force in the family!  While I might not have my wife totally convinced, at least she is willing to go online and look at kids electric guitars with me!  Wish me luck!
