Seeing That Smile On My Kid’s Face!!

My son’s birthday  was almost a month ago and my son’s love for his new beginner guitar has certainly not waned.  He got a beginner electric guitar for his birthday and my husband and I couldn’t agree more that the money was well spent.  At times we have to nudge him to complete less attractive activities like getting homework done, keeping his room clean  but we are happy that he seems to love playing so much.  He really appears to be a quick learner and we know he hopes to play in a band in the not too distant future.

It makes me happy to see my kids so happy and my husband and I were delighted when our daughter recently developed a love for figure skating.  I am glad that the amateur guitar has been such a hit with my son but even more, it’s just so great to see him smile!

Parents wanting their children to learn to play guitar might consider a second hand guitar for their child. When looking at used beginner guitars an electric guitar may be a good choice as acoustic guitars can be bulky and hard for small hands to press down.  Acoustic guitar strings are also thicker and can hurt fingers after a very short time of playing. With the correct set up an electric guitar can be played comfortably by youngsters and/or new guitarists. Every time your child plays their amateur guitar they are practicing whether it sounds like music or not which reinforces them to keep playing. Taking lessons is a great way for children to learn the basics although there is something to be said about learning to play guitar online.  For one thing learning guitar online can be a real cost saver.

Tablature is a number system that represents the string and position on the fret board that you press. This might be more beneficial for the older guitar player and a bit challenging for youngsters.  There are many websites to learn from and tablature can be an easy way because the guitarist may never have to learn to read music. The tab sites can offer lessons, tips, and information that one can’t get from a teacher.  However there is often no substitute for a live teacher who can teach a student different styles and offer lots of encouragement.  Best of luck!

Counting Our Blessings As Parents

I have been doing an extensive search for cheap electric guitars.  You see my son who just began playing in a local band with his friends needs a new guitar.  He knows what he wants and we are trying to find it for him but it has to be in our price range.  We try to support our kids but we can’t always get everything they want.  We need to teach them the value of money as well as the fact that they need to work hard for it.

Our son has had a love of guitars before he could even say the word “guitar”.    As a toddler we bought him a toy guitar.  When he reached the age of eight, we bought him a kids electric guitar for his birthday and believe me we more than got what we paid for, he practically wore the thing out!!  We are happy to support him as he is a pretty good student and for the most part has done very well in school.  He has been mowing the lawn this summer and this money will go toward the new amateur guitar.  Parenting is never easy but overall we feel we can count our blessings!

Watching Your Children Grow!

As a parent you are happy if your children are born healthy with all their fingers and toes let alone be able be able to make it in the world.  You do the very best job you can and just hope for the best!   I remind myself daily that while I may not be the “perfect” parent I do the very best I can and really try to learn from my mistakes as best I can.  With four children I feel that I get better. Wiser and more adaptable as the years roll on.  With a son heading off to college next year, a daughter about to  complete her freshman year in high school, another son finishing his first year in middle school and a daughter excited to begin fourth grade next year we get to experience different parts of childhood and adolescence all at the same time!

Our baby girl will turn ten this summer and she is SO excited because we are allowing her to have a slumber party this year!  Weather permitting we will also have a pool party.  Our daughter has also informed us that she really wants a childrens acoustic guitar for her big birthday!  My husband has really jumped on this idea and believes that he has already found a beginner childrens guitar that will be the perfect fit for our little musician!  Heck maybe we will even give her this cute little amateur guitar early so she can show it off to her friends at the slumber party and even play a little ditty for them!   All in all I think that his will be a gift the whole family will enjoy!

Learning To Sing and Play Guitar Simultaneously

sing and play amatuer guitarsPracticing a lot is a key for becoming a really good guitar player. Actually, it may look quite easy, but obviously it isn’t. Many amateur guitar players cannot achieve a task of playing the guitar and singing at the same time. What should you do to be good at it? The answer is that simple. Practice, practice and practice. In time you will be able to do that without any problems. Put as more efforts as you can to practice and the task of playing the guitar and singing simultaneously will become achievable. Starting with a quite simple song is a good thing to do because your practice journey will be much easier.

Listen to the song carefully, it’s really essential for you, especially for the first time! After that, repeat listening several times. When you become familiar with the song, you can start to play it If you can’t get it at the first glance, it’s ok, just keep trying. What you should definitely learn is to learn from your own mistakes. Lots of mistakes had even the best guitar players. No matter what happens and how hard it might be for you, don’t quit. If you decide to learn without the help of a professional tutor, there are many audio and video lessons, articles and guitar forums available on the Internet.  There are many quality amateur guitars available that are tailored for the beginner.  Don’t be afraid to look online, go to your local music store and ask friends.  If cost is an issue, discount electric and acoustic guitars are available.  Learning to play guitar and sing can be difficult but VERY rewarding!
