My son had been playing the trombone in his elementary school band for a year and also taking lessons. He was doing ok but it seemed as though I almost had to “bribe” him to practice and his attempts at playing were “half hearted” at best. By accident I discovered that what my son really wants to do is play the guitar, and in particular the acoustic guitar. I took my kids to a friend’s house for the weekend. My kids know her kids and for the most part they get along pretty well. My friend’s oldest son recently began playing acoustic guitar and loves to practice quite a bit. My son was so fascinated that by the end of the weekend he already knew how to play several chords and was eager to learn to play songs!
I decided that what I really needed to do was to find a kids acoustic guitar since a full sized guitar would be too big for my son right now. I was pleased at the availability of acoustic guitars for children. I really had a good selection from which to choose. I found a childrens acoustic guitar that seems to have worked out really well and it has been well worth the price I paid as a single parent. Sometimes through “accidents” we learn the greatest things about ourselves!
We have a good life for the most part and we don’t want for much. Life was tough last year when the kids lost their grandfather, my father in law. He has been such a wonderful influence in their lives in many ways. He was a wonderful musician his whole life. He sang played piano, guitar and performed in a singing troupe called the Carson Valley Singers. Our youngest son was particularly close to his grandfather. Our son is turning ten in three weeks and his one and only request for his birthday is that we get him a beginner acoustic guitar. I think it’s a great idea!
My husband wasn’t aware that acoustic guitars for children are available. We will have a good time together looking at childrens acoustic guitars. I am glad my son wants to play guitar and wants to emulate his grandfather who was a well respected and wonderful human being. I look forward to this upcoming summer and my son’s birthday will get us off to a good start!
My girls love life and put their heart and soul into whatever interests them at the moment. My oldest loves pyramids and if it were up to her we’d take a trip to Egypt next week. My middle daughter wants to be an equestrian in the worst way. Now my youngest and very much full of personality says that one day she will grow up to be a country singer like her idols. She know that she has a birthday coming up in the spring and that in order to be like her idols she needs to get an acoustic guitar too! So I guess my enthusiastic husband and I will be looking at acoustic guitars for children. Sounds like fun and I know that because my daughter is so excited, she will really play with gusto!
Today there seem to be so many beginner acoustic guitars for children. A brief search online pulled up a couple of websites that my husband and I have already bookmarked. Even though a child’s interest can be fickle my husband and I feel proud that our children have interests and we don’t have to constantly pull them away from the many electronic devices available to kids today. As parents we very much feel blessed!
When most parents buy their kids their first instrument, more often than not it is some form of beginner acoustic guitars. This is generally a sound decision, as the acoustic guitar lends itself to a more mellow and subdued sound. An acoustic guitar is also a good starting place for young children, as it works well with classic children’s songs.
As kids get older, they will predictably desire to branch off into the realm of electric guitars. Most parents no longer view rock and roll as hedonistic, but the music is undoubtedly loud and filled with energy. Although you may prefer you kids to stick with the melodious acoustic model, it is important to have an open mind and let their music tastes evolve.
My daughter seems to show some natural musical ability. As an infant she would tap the edge of her crib in a specific rhythm. As a toddler when music was being played on the house my daughter would take her hand and clap to the beat or pretend she was playing the drums with whatever object was available. She has watched both of her parents play guitar and she will start to sing and pretend to play the guitar at the same time. My wife and I have begun to look at acoustic guitars for children as we feel that this would be the “perfect” birthday gift for her!
I love my daughter and want to teach her the importance of being the person she is truly meant to be. If guitar isn’t it then so be it. I know she will try on “many new hats” in her lifetime and this is fine with me, (provided they are decent and safe). She really seems to love music and I do believe that a childrens acoustic guitar will make for a wonderful birthday!
My husband Phil loves country music and blue grass music. His enthusiasm seems to have rubbed off our children, most particularly our daughter Ellen. Phil also plays the acoustic guitar and Ellen seems to relish the time she gets to spend watching her father play. We would love to surprise Ellen this Christmas with her very own acoustic guitar! Phil has a lot of friends who really know guitars and know where to find quality acoustic guitars for children.
I am thrilled to know that we can find a good affordable guitar and have it sent to us well before Christmas! Ellen’s older brother Dan also shares his father’s passion and owns his own acoustic guitar. We also started him on a beginner guitar with amazing results! One day I’ll be sitting in the front row attending a show starring Ellen, Phil and Dan!
