Learning to play guitar is a wonderful hobby for children and a great way for them to harness their energy. The first thing that you need to do is buy your child a guitar.  There are many inexpensive guitars for children available including second hand guitars.  You can compare rates by doing some comparative shopping online. You will also want to make sure that you have the right sized guitar case to protect your child’s guitar.  Guitar cases for kids come in different sizes and can accommodate the ¼, ½ and ¾ size guitars.

Once the classes begin, parents should encourage and appreciate the progress their child is able to make. If the parents are actively involved and interested, kids have been known to perform and learn better. It is very helpful to encourage them to practice regularly, If you do not have an instructor in your area, you can look online and search for internet guitar lessons for kids. There are many lessons available, with audio and video instructions, at reasonable prices. These digital files usually come with free updates enabling you to get the latest lessons at frequent intervals. You can encourage your child by setting realistic goals and treat him/her to gifts when they accomplish a goal.  It is very important to let your child know that his efforts are being appreciated. When the right techniques are used and the parents are supportive, learning to play guitar can indeed be a fun and exciting experience!
