One Musical Family!

My daughter has shown interest in music and actually seems to have some natural musical ability.  My husband and I noticed that when she was a child she would tap the edge of her crib in a specific rhythm.  As a toddler when music was being played on the house my daughter would take her hand and clap to the beat or pretend she was playing the drums with whatever she could get her hands on. She has watched both my husband and I play guitar and she will start to sing and pretend to play the guitar at the same time.  My husband and I have begun to look at acoustic guitars for children as we feel that this would be the ‘perfect’ birthday gift for her!

I love my daughter and want to teach her the importance of being the person she is truly meant to be.  If guitar isn’t it then that is ok with us.  I know she will go through many phases during her lifetime and we expect this, (provided they are decent and safe).  She really seems to love music and I do believe that a childrens acoustic guitar will be a wonderful birthday gift for her!

A question parents often ponder when allowing their child to learn to play an instrument is: when is the right time? The answer can vary depending on the instrument.  You might want to consider allowing your child to learn to play guitar.   There are many different types of kids guitars to choose from. Parents want to know if their child is old enough to play guitar and one consideration should be whether their wrists and fingers are strong enough to successfully play chords on the guitar. For this reason, experts recommend waiting until a child is at least seven years old to start this instrument. Children who want to start playing before the age of seven can start on the piano. They will learn basic chords, notes, and rhythms while their bodies grow strong enough to play the guitar.

Beginning guitarists often learn in a group setting.  Most parents choose this option because it is the most affordable however students do not get to benefit from this one on one attention in a group setting. In an individual lesson, the teacher is able to pinpoint areas that the child needs to work on much more easily. Once you have started lessons, you must work hard to encourage your child to practice.   Learning to play guitar can have many benefits for your child and you will be glad you invested your money and time in such a worthwhile pursuit!

Letting Your Child Play The Electric Guitar

Learning to play a musical instrument has many benefits.  Instruments like kids electric guitars help teach children the relationship between hard work and rewards.  It raises IQ’s and studies have shown that children exposed to music lessons and musical instruments are more likely to be smarter than their peers. It also helps them to read although nobody seems to be quite sure why. It gives them an outlet for stress.  Being able to play a guitar can help your child learn how to work through stress even though your ear drums may pay the price!

Allowing a child to play a kids electric guitar can help the child seem ‘cool’ because electric guitars are viewed as cool and everyone wants to hang out with the ’cool’ kids at school.   Learning to play guitar can help your child’s public speaking abilities as he or she gets used to performing in front of an audience. Before you rush out to buy a childrens electric guitar, it pays to shop around for the best deal.  You can upgrade as he or she becomes a more accomplished player

It seems that most boys enjoy banging the drums and start out early as they pick up objects in their homes from coffee tables to chairs to anything that is available.  So my wife and I now think it is time to get our ‘aspiring drummer’ the proper equipment to ‘bang the heck out of’.  I have been checking around and I know that there are some pretty cool kids drumsets available.  Call it an early birthday present, call it whatever you want, but I know are very eager musical son will be ‘over the moon’ to get this very soon!

Our son is for the most part enjoying school and I know that he will love being able to bring a kids drumset to play in his music class.  We love seeing our kids happy and finding joy in the fruits our my labor!  Soon our house will be filled with the wonderful sound of some banging drums!

Why the drums?

Give a child a pot, a pan or a wooden spoon and most kids will begin to beat the drum! Some kids are even born with a natural sense of rhythm.   You might want to consider buying your child a kids drum set.   Kids drums come with different configurations.   There are drum sets made for children, they include 3 and 5 piece sets which consist of: cymbals, snare and bass drums and tom toms.

A kid’s drum set is a great investment that can enhance your child’s creativity.  Someday your child might pursue music as their career and learning the basics as a child can build a great foundation.  With every beat of the drum, your kid can release pent up energy.  Learning to play drums allows your child to concentrate, develop their skills and focus on becoming better.  Kids drum sets are an inexpensive way to show musical abilities.  The very very best of luck to you and your children!

Beginner Drum Lessons!

Taking beginner lessons is a must if you wish to learn the fundamentals of playing percussion instruments.  You will need to look at kids drum sets to purchase for your child.  Your child will have to learn how to hold the drum sticks and will be taught the proper posture before learning anything else. .

There are a lot of options to consider when deciding to take beginner drum lessons. Your child can take them in school or in the comfort of his own home. If he opts for beginner drum lessons he will receive one on one instruction from a master of the drums.  With individual lessons your child is more likely to master the techniques faster than having lessons in a group setting. The only thing that might be a problem with private lessons would be the cost,   Some websites offer video’s of beginner drumming lessons that are good and relatively inexpensive.  If you choose one of these sites make sure there is one instructor as too many instructors may be too confusing.

The Benefits of Playing Guitar for You and Your Child!

If your child expresses an interest in wanting to learn to the play guitar and asks for lessons chances are they will follow through and will want on their own.   Age is not always the absolute deciding factor to determine a person’s interest in wanting to learn.   Most children under the age of six don’t yet have the aptitude necessary to learn to play childrens  guitar.   Young children have the choice of kids acoustic guitars or kids electric guitars.   You can spend some time with your child and call it music appreciation. Dance and play with them to music. They will develop coordination and appreciation for music, and one added benefit, they get to spend time with you. .

You might want to consider guitar lessons for your child.  If you want your child to just have some fun and do something interesting, you might feel that it is worth the investment. If you are looking at seriously getting a head start on your child’s musical development getting them to learn proper technique from the start may be essential

Don’t Overlook The Amateurs!

One of my favorite things to do is attend concerts and musical performances locally. While many people only attend big ticket events with ‘A list bands’, I enjoy the intimacy of smaller venues with other lesser known artists. Although the stage show of a big name bands are amazing, there is something special about witnessing lesser known musicians.

While many performers insist that they are amateur guitar players or musicians, they often display an impressive musical prowess. Especially with the litany of music available today, fame is not necessarily indicative of a performer’s skill or potential.  Many musicians get started as children and guitars for kids are very affordable for the young performer. I love to watch a performer grow and that doesn’t always mean into the bright but ‘fleeting’ lights of fame.  Some of the best songs never make it to the radio!

Helping to cultivate your child’s interests

It is my belief that one of the very most important aspects of encouraging children in any type of pursuit is to have worthy leaders to emulate. When my kids have shown interest in something, I have always encouraged them to look to leaders for inspiration and motivation.  So when my young son picked up the electric guitar, I suggested that he listen to some of the pioneers.

We were both excited when we shopped around looking at various types of guitars for children. I will admit that I was a little nervous about the noise he would be creating. Luckily he developed an appreciation for the same guitarists that I love—not the heavy metal thrashers that I have never really cared for!  In just a few months he has developed in to quite a good guitarist, I am so proud!!

Why Chose the guitar for your child?

Believe it or not allowing your child to take guitar lessons might be one of the most beneficial things you can for a number of reasons. Music lessons in general are a benefit to children for a multitude of reasons.  For example, music and mathematics go hand in hand, and in fact, music  is very mathematical. Studies have shown that there is a correlation between the two, and music lessons can definitely have an indirect effect on your child’s mathematical reasoning. So, why take guitar lessons? Well, for one, a lot of kids are more interested in learning guitar simply because their favorite bands all have guitarists.

Finally, you may be saying ‘guitar lessons are expensive aren’t they?’ Well they can be, but they don’t have to be. A good one-on-one teacher can cost anywhere from $20 to $50 an hour, but when your kids are just starting they should be fine with a lower cost teacher.  You might consider buying your child a DVD based guitar course. Kids are amazingly in tune with technology, and tend to learn quickly from watching demonstration.  It is also very important to protect your investment by purchasing a guitar case for your child’s guitar.  Guitar cases for kids are available in different sizes to fit ¼, ½, and ¾ sized childrens guitars.
