Geting Your Child Started His or Her First Guitar

When most parents are trying to decide on their kids first instrument, more often than not it is some form of kids acoustic guitars. This is usually a good decision, as the acoustic guitar lends itself to a more mellow and subdued sound. An acoustic guitar is also a good starting place for young children, and works well with classic children’s songs.

As kids get older, they will predictably desire to explore the realm of electric guitar playing  Most parents no longer view rock and roll as hedonistic, and something that only ‘bad’ kids get into.  While electric guitar playing is loud, it is also uplifting and filled with energy. Although you may prefer you kids to stick with the melodious acoustic model, it is important to have an open mind and let their music tastes evolve naturally.  Tis the season for parents to explore acoustic guitars for children as a wonderful Christmas gift!

Spending Quality Time With The Kids!

My wife and I became proud parents seven years ago when we had our son.  Two years later we had a beautiful baby girl.  With kids so young Christmas is a HUGE deal and something we talk about for weeks on end before the big day finally arrives!  Those were the days when you were SO excited that you couldn’t wait until Christmas morning!  Our kids recently spent time with their 16 year old cousin Robert.  Robert is a drummer in a band and our son is so taken by him.  Ever since our most recent visit with Robert and his family, our son says that what he wants the very most for his Christmas is a drum set like Robert’s

I am glad that my son looks up to Robert so much and I am starting my search for kids drum sets, (a smaller and more affordable version of what Robert has). I think this will be a lot of fun and my wife is into it too as long as he keeps the noise to an acceptable level.  It is nice to know that kids drumsets are reasonably priced and should last him several years at least.  Kids grow so fast and we are always so busy.  I try to make the most of their childhood years and  watching my son play with a childrens drumset is yet another way of spending time with my son doing something he truly loves!  Merry Christmas everyone!!

My beloved grandson told me that what he really wants for Christmas this year is an acoustic guitar.   When I heard this I thought this was an interesting yet unexpected request.  However after speaking with my daughter, (her mother) she assures me that other kids my grandson’s age also like the guitar and some of them have gotten a kids guitar for their birthdays, Christmas etc. I would like to surprise my grandson and get him a kids acoustic guitar for Christmas but I haven’t a clue where to look.

My daughter said that she had already begun looking at acoustic guitars for kids online and believes she has found one that my grandson will really like.  I want to take a look before making my final decision but heck if my grandson really wants it then I’m all for it! At his age I can’t even conceptualize wanting such a gift but again it was a different time.  Even though times have changed people essentially stay the same.  I look forward to more bonding time with my grandson!

Learning to play the guitar is no easy feat and my daughter wants to undertake this venture in the worst way.  I think I’ll begin shopping for the perfect guitar as Christmas will be here before you know it  My daughter Sonia is eight years old and after speaking with several knowledgeable friends of mine they feel that a kids acoustic guitar would be a perfect fit.

After looking at several music stores as well as online, I think I have some great leads on some really good beginner acoustic guitars. I am quite impressed with the variety of acoustic guitars for children.  I have some good references for guitar instructors and I have also bought my daughter some books and DVD’s about learning to play the guitar.  Christmas will be here in a less than a month and I want to help make this kid’s dream come true! I look forward to embarking on this new journey!

Having Fun Over The Holidays!

My husband told me that we have to get our adorable little son a childrens electric guitar for Christmas!   One of my husband’s closest friends got his son a kids guitar last Christmas and my husband says it’s so cute and we just HAVE to get our son one!  My husband is really just a “big kid” himself and he’s been having a ball searching for kids guitars online.  My stepson has been playing acoustic guitar for awhile and just recently formed a trio with two of his friends and they are hoping to start performing locally.

We have a lot of fun in our family and for that we are truly blessed.  However someone has to run the finances.  We have a lot of people to shop for this Christmas and we have to stay on a budget.  I must admit however that on Christmas day our son will be thrilled beyond belief when he sees the cool guitar his parents bought for him!

Christmas will be here before you know it.  We have less time than we think to get ready.  We  have given thought to the idea of getting our daughter a kids electric guitar.  My husband has started searching on line for kids electric guitars.  We feel really excited about giving this gift as we know she REALLY wants to play guitar!  My husband will play Santa Claus on Christmas Eve and we will be quite happy Christmas morning to see the look on her face when he sees what Santa has brought.

I will be glad when the rush of Christmas is over but I still love to see the joy in my kid’s faces when they receive the gifts that they really want. My son will be thrilled beyond belief if he gets the Ipad and accessories that he wanted.   A kids guitar, what more could my very musical daughter ask for?  Yes Santa Claus is coming to town!

My mother has spoiled my kids for as long as I can remember and while I am delighted to see this, I am a little envious because I wish that she had treated my siblings and I half as well.  She is well aware of all my children’s birthdays and because she knows that I am a single parent wants to dote on my kids even more. Christmas is always a HUGE production and this year will be no different!  She knows that my very lovely young daughter wants nothing more this Christmas than to be able play the drums with her very own drum set!   I don’t want my mom to spend too much money and so I told her that a childrens drum set would be just fine

Mom wants to buy a kids drum set that is of good quality and will last.  I have been looking online at drums for kids.  My daughter will be thrilled beyond belief!   I only wish that when I was my daughter’s age and my mother showed half this much enthusiasm when I was beginning a new hobby.  Anyway, she and I both tend to live vicariously through my kids and are eager to see all of their faces on Christmas morning!!

My Hard To Please Mother

My mother has been hounding my wife and I for weeks now about Christmas and our son’s thirteenth birthday at the end of January. She wants to make sure we have all our ducks in a row for Christmas and all birthday party preparations in the works even though our son’s birthday isn’t until January 26th.  I guess that’s what retirement does to a person.  I mean she DEFINITELY doesn’t have enough to do!  Anyway we, (my wife more so than I) are feeling the pressure to get things together or we will run out of time and won’t be able to provide as we should for our children.

My daughter wants to play guitar and has been telling me that for quite some time now.  My wife and I have been debating as to whether or not she is old enough to play guitar and take guitar lessons.  I spoke with a friend of mine the other day and he said that his son learned to play guitar with a kids acoustic guitar and picked it up quickly through online instruction.  So I think I am going to tell my ‘controlling’ (as my wife will agree with in a New York minute) mother that we need to begin looking at kids acoustic guitars as a Christmas gift for my daughter and my mother’s granddaughter.   I’ll do the leg work to get the guitar and she can pay for it since she is m ore than willing to do so. May the shopping commence!

My little girl has been begging me for guitar lessons for quite some time now.  She will be turning eight in January and of course Christmas will be here before we know it!! I have begun looking at guitars for kids online.  She is a good kid and I think that she is excited about learning to play an instrument.  I even have somebody in mind to instruct her that my girlfriend used to teach her son.  My son plays electric guitar and my daughter has looked up to him for years.  We started him out with a beginner electric guitar and off he went!

I am happy when my children are happy as long as they keep their hobbies in perspective and live well balanced lives.  My husband is also very supportive.  Life isn’t always easy but we do try to take stock of the many blessings that we do have.  We look forward to future “jam” session with both of our musical children which may start as early as Christmas morning!!  We’ll see.

Living Vicariously Through My Kid!!

Giving up the guitar has always been one of my biggest regrets in life. I started playing the instrument in junior high school and kept going right up through college, when life got in the way. My first job out of college was so demanding that I had to budget my free time very carefully. In order to spend time with my fiancée, the guitar-playing habit had to go. Fortunately, I have the chance to reconnect with my precious guitar vicariously through my son.

He just turned 11 and has been clamoring for an electric guitar for several months now. With Christmas right around the corner, there is no question about what present to get him; all I have to do is look at guitars for children suitable for a beginner. After mulling over the advantages of electric vs. acoustic models, I have decided to get him a kids electric guitar. Most of his favorite bands play electric, so I believe he will be more motivated if he can emulate his heroes,  I look forward to his reaction on Christmas day!!
