For The Love Of Music!!

All my kids seem to love music in some capacity.  My son plays bass guitar and sings backup in a local band with a few of his buddies.  We want to encourage him to continue with the band after high school as long as he keeps up with his studies while keeping the rest of his life in perspective.  Our daughter sings in the choir and now absolutely LOVES the fact that she is beginning to sing solos!!  Now our little six year old daughter says she wants to play guitar.  My husband thinks it would be good to start our daughter on a beginner acoustic guitar.

So now we begin the search for childrens acoustic guitars.  We do have a little time to look because our daughter’s birthday isn’t until November 20th.  I think she will be quite pleased.  I know she loves music just as much as anyone else in the family!!  She will join the Children’s Choir at church next year and now she can add guitar to her repertoire.   She will also be so excited to “jam’ with her older brother who she very much looks up to.

Life Without The Sound Of Music, Never!!!!

My husband has always loved country music, blue grass music and folk music.  His enthusiasm and joy now seems to have rubbed off on our youngest daughter.  My husband has played acoustic and electric guitar most of his life and our daughter seems to truly relish the time she gets to spend watching her father play.  We know that for Christmas this year we must surprise our daughter with her very own acoustic guitar!  My husband has some contacts who really know guitars and know where to find quality beginner kids guitars.

We are both thrilled to know that we can find a good affordable beginner kids guitar and have it picked out and ready well before Christmas!   Our oldest son also shares his father’s passion and owns his own acoustic guitar.    We also started him on a kids guitar with amazing results!  I could not imagine our lives without the sound of music!!

Your Very First Guitar!!

My ‘very cool’ daughter says that she wants an electric guitar in the worst way.  After a very persuasive argument she has actually convinced me that a beginner kids guitar would be a pretty good idea!  I am glad she is so enthusiastic and I just hope that I can find some ‘cool’ beginner childrens guitars in our price range.  My daughter assures me that we will find an affordable guitar  because she has a friend who got one last month and her dad is currently out of work.  I guess I’m game.

After looking online and talking to friends I think that kids guitars may in fact be more affordable than I had originally thought.  Her birthday is November 5th so I guess now is as good a time as any to get her this precious gift.  I must admit that I begged my folks for a guitar when I was her age but my oh so frugal parents made me wait until I was almost sixteen to get my first guitar.  Times seem to really have changed but when it’s all said and done, people stay pretty much the same.

Channeling Your Child’s Creativity!!

Like most five-year-olds, my daughter often has more energy than I would like her to have. While I love my daughter, there are times when I wish that she would just sit down for a few minutes.  I need to find more ways for her to release her energy and channel her rambunctious behavior in a more positive venue!

Since she already is constantly bangs on objects around the house, I decided to try to cultivate this passion of hers and purchased her a set of drums for kids.  There are a lot of affordable, cute and good quality childrens drum sets.  Now when she has way  too much energy, which is much of the time, I simply put her in front of  her drum kit and let her play for a little while. Not only does  she love playing kids drums, but it also provides her with a great means of creative expression.

The Music That Binds Us!!

I am a so glad that my son has decided to pursue his interest of playing guitar.  I have loved music and have played electric/acoustic guitar for years and I know the joy it has brought me throughout my life.  He loves it when I bring out the guitar and start to play. I decided that for his birthday I would get him a beginner acoustic guitar.  An exhaustive search for acoustic guitars for kids brought forth a rather nice selection from which I found the ‘perfect’ guitar for my son!  He had no idea that I had taken a chance and purchased this for his birthday!  The day of his birthday arrived and I saw true joy on my son’s face that I haven’t seen often enough throughout his life!!

I look forward to the day that my son and I will have to actually “jam” together.  Even though I would like to play teacher, I will find a competent instructor to teach him proper technique, (probably my friend’s oldest son who gives lessons and has been playing guitar for years). I see this as a great bonding experience for both of us that will hopefully bring us closer for years to come!

Time For Christmas Already?

Fall is here and Christmas is just around the corner.  It is time for my husband and I to look at our finances and think about what we can afford this year regarding Christmas gifts for our children.   I can’t believe we are coming to the end of the year already!  Our son has told us that he wants to learn to play acoustic guitar just like his Daddy.  We are glad to hear this and hope that he will enjoy the guitar as much as his father does.

I have gladly started my search for acoustic guitars for kids and so far have been delighted in what I am seeing.  There seem to be more quality kids acoustic guitars available now then when my husband was her age.   My husband will be just as excited as our son on Christmas day when they can begin having “jam” sessions together, (after he has a few lessons of course!)  My best wishes to everyone for a wonderful holiday season!!

The Guitar Passed Down Through The Generations!

Our family has played the acoustic guitar for several generations. My father played and performed at different venues in our area.  My husband and I have played off and on throughout the years at various churches and coffee houses and now both my son is expressing an interest to play.  With the holidays literally just around the corner we are seriously considering looking for some quality guitars for children!

We have some very good instructors in our family and extended family who have a lot of experience and would provide acoustic guitar lessons.  We also know of some really good learn to play guitar books and DVD’s. This is all quite fun for our family and I believe our love of guitar will bring our family closer together.   We look forward to Christmas!

Forming Her Own Little Band!!

We have a wonderfully talented daughter who just informed us that she now wants to play amateur drums in addition to her repertoire of other instruments.  She began singing in the Cherub Choir at a young age and would pick up any object our home and pretend to play the guitar like her oldest brother.  Last year we bought her a really cute kids electric guitar!   Before we knew it she began to form her own little band with some other neighborhood kids.  Now at the age of 8 we will begin to look for a kids drumset to complete this neighborhood band.

My wife is all for it and tells me that if it is what she really wants than we should go for it!   I tend to do most of the shopping for our kids’ birthdays so I must now select a childrens drumset so we can get a good one in time for her birthday!  Who knows maybe we’ll be coming to watch  her on tour soon!

Making Her Dreams Come True!!

So what will our daughter get for her birthday this year?  I know my daughter can’t wait to turn eight!  She has told me that the only thing she wants for her birthday this year more than anything else in “the whole wide world” is a kids drum set!   I thought, “Oh boy!”  Where am I going to start looking for childrens drum sets?  Of course as any parent knows the internet is a wonderful resource for just about anything.

My wife doesn’t think getting drums for our daughter is such a big deal.  Maybe she is right, since we will only be getting a childrens drum set we can probably find a good one that is pretty affordable.   Our friends are musicians and I know they can probably get us a good deal.  I bet there are some pretty cute drums for children that our daughter will really like.  Come November 3rd, I think we will have one happy child in our home!!

The True Meaning of Christmas!!

What are we going to do?  Christmas isn’t that far away when you think about it.  We pride ourselves on being able to get our children most things that they want within reason but it’s going to be a bit tougher this year since my wife got laid off in June.  We will simply have to economize the best we know how.  Our son wants an electric guitar in the worst way and that just seems impossible this year!   My wife says that we just might be able to afford a kids guitar after all because she has just heard about some really good discount childrens guitars available online.

I hope we can also find some other discounted items for our other two children.  The economy has made things tough and one of the best values we can teach our children is that quality family time means the most, gifts or no gifts.  I hope that this will be the best Christmas ever as we all realize that just enjoy being together is the most important thing!
