Watching Your Children Grow!

As a parent you are happy if your children are born healthy with all their fingers and toes let alone be able be able to make it in the world.  You do the very best job you can and just hope for the best!   I remind myself daily that while I may not be the “perfect” parent I do the very best I can and really try to learn from my mistakes as best I can.  With four children I feel that I get better. Wiser and more adaptable as the years roll on.  With a son heading off to college next year, a daughter about to  complete her freshman year in high school, another son finishing his first year in middle school and a daughter excited to begin fourth grade next year we get to experience different parts of childhood and adolescence all at the same time!

Our baby girl will turn ten this summer and she is SO excited because we are allowing her to have a slumber party this year!  Weather permitting we will also have a pool party.  Our daughter has also informed us that she really wants a childrens acoustic guitar for her big birthday!  My husband has really jumped on this idea and believes that he has already found a beginner childrens guitar that will be the perfect fit for our little musician!  Heck maybe we will even give her this cute little amateur guitar early so she can show it off to her friends at the slumber party and even play a little ditty for them!   All in all I think that his will be a gift the whole family will enjoy!

Making The Most Of The Childhood Years!

My wife and I became parents five years ago when we had our son.  Two years later we had a daughter.  With kids so young a birthday is a HUGE event and something to look forward to for weeks on end.  Those were the days when you looked forward to your birthday!  Our kids recently spent time with their 16 year old cousin Kevin.  Kevin is a drummer in a band and our son is so taken by him.  Ever since our most recent visit, our son says that what he most wants for his birthday is a drum set like Kevin’s.

I am glad that my son looks up to Kevin and I am starting my search for childrens drums.  I think this will be a lot of fun and my wife is all for it too as long as he keeps the noise to an acceptable level.  It is nice to know that kids drumsets are reasonably priced and should last him several years at least.  Kids grow so fast and we are always so busy.  I have to make the very most of their childhood years and  watching my son play with a childrens drumset is a wonderful part of doing just that!

The older I get the more reflective I become.  Now that I am a father I don’t want to miss any of my kid’s growing up years.  I have 4 children and believe me it isn’t always easy but I wouldn’t have it any other way.  My son says that he wants an electric guitar like his friend Eddie at school.   After doing a little research I discovered that electric guitars for children are available in many different colors, shapes and sizes!  I don’t even know where to begin.  This ought to be a lot of fun!

I try to be a good father and give my kids what they want within reason and now that my older son sees that I am looking at kids electric guitars he thinks I should also be looking for amateur drum sets.  My older son wants to be a drummer in the worst way.  Yes I have a family of musicians.  Now all I need is a lead singer and I will be all set.  I try not to say this too loud because my daughter might just be perfect for this role as she has always been the kids who likes to stand in front of the mirror and use her hairbrush as a microphone!  Before you know it we just might be “playin in a travellin band!”
