I have never seen a kid more happy in my life to receive a guitar as a gift. We got him a kids electric guitar for his birthday last month after months of cajoling from him claiming that this would be the perfect gift. We had given him the good news last month that we would get him an electric guitar for his birthday and told him that he could help pick it out. I must admit that it was fun looking at all the different kinds of kids electric guitars. Very surprisingly we found one that we all agreed on and that doesn’t usually happen!
So now he plays and plays and plays. I am glad about this except that the noise can be a bit much at times. We just recently got a ¾ guitar case so we can protect this precious guitar. There also seem to be quite an array of guitar cases for kids. We are glad to see our son so happy and know that he will feel even more a part of the family as his brother plays the drums and his sister plays the piano and the flute. Who knows, maybe we will even start our own family band!
All my kids love music. My son plays bass guitar and has grand illusions of playing in the big time with a few of his buddies. We want to encourage him to follow his dreams as long as he keeps up with his studies and keeps the rest of his life in perspective. Our daughter sings in the choir and seems to really enjoy playing the clarinet. Now our little seven year old daughter says she wants to play guitar. My husband thinks it would be good to start our daughter Carrie on a beginner acoustic guitar.
So now we begin the search for beginner acoustic guitars. We do have some time however to look because Carrie’s birthday isn’t until April. I think Carrie will be very pleased. I know she wants to follow in the family tradition. She will join the Children’s Choir at church next year and now she can add guitar to her repertoire. She will also be so excited to “jam’ with her older brother who she very much looks up to. Happy Birthday Carrie!
There are many beginner electric guitars available today for the eager musician. However many beginner guitarists are overly enthusiastic and don’t take time to learn proper technique making it harder to correct later on in their career. It is extremely important to acquire good strumming habits. For instance, a lot of beginners will strum every single string of a chord with every stroke. Doing this for an entire song can become quite bland, particularly if the guitar is one of the focal instruments in the song. Quite often many guitarists try to replace the rhythmic ideas with a basic strumming pattern. Even in strumming-oriented songs, the up and down strokes may have nothing to do with rhythm, but merely effect. Being able to switch between up and down strums seamlessly, in rhythm, regardless of the pattern should be a goal to focus on. Using strumming patterns as a substitute for learning proper rhythm is something that can potentially end up becoming a huge problem when songs with more complex or unusual timing comes up.
Learning to control strokes to the point of hitting only a couple of strings each time and swapping between the bass and treble strings can be much more interesting to listen to in many cases. That is not to say hitting every string is bad, but it is something to do sparingly. This creates a dynamic to the song that makes hitting all the strings in the chord a very noticeable thing that draws the listeners attention, rather than base line of the song. Learning to play amateur guitar can be a fun important especially if you learn proper technique from the start.
So my kid will be six in just a couple of weeks. This is very exciting to everyone in the family but is the most exciting to our young son. He is quite precocious and very ambitious you might say. I see a future doctor, lawyer, businessman and even a musician perhaps. Let’s start with the musician. Our son Eddie like many kids his age wants to bang the drums. He thinks that this is very cool and so do I. I propose to my somewhat less enthusiastic wife that we start looking at amateur drum sets. I know that there are some very affordable and fun kids drumsets.
We however need to get a move on as his birthday will be here very soon. I have already bookmarked some good websites. A buddy of mine bought his son beginner drums and says that for the most part it has been a lot of fun for the whole family. I very much want Eddie to succeed in life but along the way I want him to also have loads of fun. A kids drumset should help that process!
If your child expresses an interest in learning to play guitar and asks for lessons than chances are they will follow through and will want to practice what they learn. Age is not always the absolute deciding factor to determine a person’s interest in wanting to learn. A lot of parents are the ones deciding upon lessons. So, if your child is the one who has the interest, that’s a good start. Most children under the age of six don’t yet have the aptitude necessary to learn to play childrens guitar. There can always be exceptions but not usually. You can spend some time with your child yourself and call it music appreciation. Dance and play with them to music. They will develop coordination and appreciation for music. And one added benefit, they get to spend time with you. Today there are many different types of kids guitars available. You can even by amplifiers and guitar cases for kids for the complete package.
If you need to have your child supervised and you want it to be on the theme of music, guitar lessons might be a choice you want to make. If you want your child to just have some fun and do something interesting, you may well feel that it is worth the investment. If you are looking at seriously getting a head start on your child’s musical development getting them to learn proper technique from the start may be essential.
My mother is such a wonderful grandmother and I love and at times even envy all of the attention she has given her many grandkids. She is aware that her grandson Tad, (my oldest and quite musically ambitious son) wants a new electric guitar in the worst way. We got Tad a kids electric guitar when he was just seven years old and now at fifteen he has become very eager to reach “Rock God Status”. Tad will be sixteen in April and I just told my Mom what he most wants for his birthday. She wasn’t surprised but also can’t always quite comprehend what Tad loves so much about those crazy guitars anyway.
However Mom is a real trooper and whatever makes her grandchildren happy, will ultimately make her happy as well. I just wish that she had spoiled me the way she spoils my kids! Oh well, seeing my family happy is really the most important thing to me now. I also want to get Tad a new guitar case and gig bag. I think he will be very pleased. I already know what guitar he wants so now it’s just a matter of ordering it and waiting for it to arrive. I just hope that when he becomes rich and famous one day he won’t forget his “Dear old Dad”
My five year old wants to be a rocker in the worst way! It all started several months ago when she spent time with her aunt and uncle while my wife and I were away on a business trip. Alana just loves her older cousin Jake who is a bass guitarist in a local band. Her aunt, my sister says that Alana followed him around and finally Jake relented allowing his young cousin to play his “precious” guitar while he supervised making sure she didn’t touch something she wasn’t supposed to. That did it, Alana was sold. She says that all she wants for her sixth birthday is a new electric guitar, “Ok no problem” I told her.
As a former musician myself I understand the allure playing an instrument can have at a young age. I played drums for years in a very popular band in our area and am still very close with some of my old bandmates today. I think that it would be totally cute to get Alana a childrens electric guitar for her sixth birthday. I think I can convince my wife that this would be a good plan. I think it’s great and I know I will have a very happy daughter on my hands quite soon!
I have been a lover of music my whole life. I have sung in choirs for years. I learned to play guitar when I was twelve years old and even wrote some of my own songs. Some of the songs no one knows but me. Singing those songs puts me back in touch with some very good memories. Now my young daughter tells me that she too wants to play guitar and sing her own songs. I am delighted to hear this and want to support her in any way I can. Today they have so many more guitars for kids available then when I was her age.
After looking online, I have found several websites that I have bookmarked. I think I found a really good quality childrens acoustic guitar that she will love! Maybe we can even get her an early birthday gift. Now I just have to see if my husband is on board with this plan. I really believe that I have come full circle and it is a good feeling!
As a parent you need to be on the look for your children’s special skills and abilities as well as their hidden talents. It seems to me that our young son could be on his way to a budding music career. He has shown some natural ability singing in the choir, playing the drums and now expresses an interest in learning guitar. As luck would have it, he has a birthday coming up next month. I have already begun my search for beginner kids guitars as a kids guitar seems to be perfect for his age.
I spoke to my brother who says that he too bought a beginner kids guitar for his eldest son and he claims that the quality of this guitar was first rate. Even though his son no longer plays and gave his guitar to his younger cousin, he recommends this guitar highly! I am not sure if my son will stick with the guitar but I know he has musical ability and I am happy to let him explore this love! Isn’t that my job as a parent.
Drum sets are an essential part of any modern orchestra or music band. Drum sets are also called as drum kits and usually contain percussion components such as
drums, cymbals and other drumming instruments. Drum sets were originally developed in the United States and were known as trap kits at that point of time. Drum sets are popular amongst all age groups and most children love to hear the booming sound of a drum. There are various drum sets available nowadays that are especially designed for children.
Childrens drum sets are quite different from the normal drum sets available for adults. They generally come as a 3-piece set for children who are in the age group of 5-9 years. These include a bass drum, a snare drum and a tom-tom along with a cymbal and its holder, snare stand, drumsticks and drum pedal. Children drum sets are typically available in a variety of colors. They come with stools that can be adjusted from 13 to 17 inches according to the height of the child. There are certain traditional kids drum sets which are designed for children. They are scaled down in different child sizes in order to give them an authentic look, but comfortable for children to play. These sets usually come with chrome steel fittings and high gloss paint finishes in bright colors in order to increase their durability and to make them look attractive. It could be the “perfect” choice for the budding musician.
