Playing the drums has been a great pastime for many generations. The style and make of drums have changed greatly over the years but the joy of playing them has persisted. I have enjoyed playing them for years and as an adult I get excited when I see a child also want to experience that passion. My cute little nephew wants to play the drums and I am trying to convince his parents that purchasing a kids drumset would be a great Christmas gift for many reasons, (i.e. the ability to learn a skill and most importantly have fun!)
I have recently noticed how many really cool childrens drumsets are out there. I can hardly wait! I would love to teach Tommy and help him get started the right way. Hopefully we will jam together very soon!
What will Santa have on his sleigh this year? If my daughter Karen has any say whatsoever there will be a childrens acoustic guitar. I am happy to try and honor this request for her but my husband and I both know that the budget is tight ever since he lost his job five months ago. He takes odd jobs here and there but we do struggle somewhat.
I have been looking online to price childrens acoustic guitars and have to say that I thought they would cost a lot more than they do. So perhaps we can afford this for Karen as well as some good learn to play guitar DVD’s. I think Karen will be delighted with what Santa will bring her down the chimney this year!
What is a mother to do? My daughter Kelly tells me that her music teacher at school tells the class how important it is for them to follow their passion for many different reasons. Kelly now says that she feel strongly that she needs a beginner guitar. Oh wow! I said well IF we get her a guitar it will be a combined Christmas and birthday gift. Kelly assures me that she is fine with this arrangement
My husband just came home from work today and said that he had done an exhaustive search on the internet and found that amateur guitars are not as expensive as we both assumed they would be. He said that not only did he find some good beginner acoustic guitars but also some very good learn to play guitar books and DVD’s. I think that Kelly will be pleased as punch this Christmas!
I love the guitar! I have been playing most of my life so it is no wonder that my kids have wanted to follow in my footsteps. My middle son Ted wants an electric guitar in the worst way for Christmas. Fortunately I have a lot of knowledge in this area and already have some good leads on beginner childrens guitars. I couldn’t be more pleased with the idea that my son and I could someday do some gigs together.
It is great to know that there are such good quality kids electric guitars out there. I am glad to be Ted’s teacher but I think it might also be a good idea to get some instructional books and DVD’s for beginner guitar lessons. Wow, this Christmas we will ROCK !
We have just purchased the “very coolest” childrens drum set! Our son Matthew will be pleased beyond pleased! I am so pleased and amazed at the good deals that are out there. We are also so excited that we have found a good instructor who teches mostly childrens drum lessons. Matthew has wanted to play the drums ever since I can remember. Santa will be good to him this year!
Our younger son loves the guitar and we are going to get him guitar hero and the guitar hero songbook. I think we may have unintentionally started out own family band. Oh well, I can be a good sport and I can hardly wait for Christmas morning to see the excitement in their faces!
All my son wants to do is: bang the drums, band the drums, bang the drums. I am a loving parent who only wants the best for my son, Billy. And if getting him a kids drum set will make him happy and give me leverage to use to do his homework and complete his chores. All I ask is that Billy play the drums in a “sound proof vault” so I can have some “sanity time”.
I will be a good sport and will even buy a drum instructional book and some DVD’s for Billy. If he insists on becoming a “Rock God” than I will insist he find a good instructor. Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!
Our eleven year old son, Johnny was diagnosed with ADHD several years ago. It has made things crazy at times in our already chaotic home. We have been taking our son to therapy for several years and it has been immensely helpful. Last month the therapist recommended that we get Johnny involved in a hobby of his choice that will really capture his interest and attention. After speaking with Johnny about his hobbies and giving the matter much consideration, we decided to let him learn to play the electric guitar.
We found quite a deal online for a childrens electric guitar. I can already see a difference in Johnny. It is great to see him more focused and happy. Now we are looking for electric guitar lessons so Johnny can learn good technique. We are hoping that by teaching him discipline with the guitar he will learn to be more disciplined in other areas of his life.!
So next week is Thanksgiving. Wow, where did the time go this year? As a parent you would think that I would be more on top of things but now Christmas is on the horizon and I haven’t even begun to shop. I know that my kid wants a drum set and I am thinking of getting one for him but I’m just not sure of the cost. The internet always has good deals so I guess I will look there.
He has been fascinated with the drums for several years now and so I guess it is time to look at some amateur drum sets and let him try it out. If he doesn’t like it so be it. As long as he doesn’t think I am going to spend money each year on his “hobby du jour” we are in business. Now if I can just figure out what to get my wife, I’ll be set. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Our son has been banging the drums night and day. I am a fairly tolerant person but even I have my limits. If I am going to put up with all the noise than he can at least learn to play in rhythm. Ever since we bought him a childrens drum set, he feels that he needs to spend most of his free time learning how to play the drums “his” way.
So I have made an executive decision. I am going to fork out the money for drum lessons. I looked online and found someone who seems very reputable and claims to specialize mostly in kids drum lessons. Now my next project will be a sound proof studio so we can all have some peace!
I can’t fight it, my son is going to play the guitar like it or not. I know I want my kids to show an interest in what truly makes them happy but I have to admit that I wish my son would play a sport like soccer where he is involved in it only part of the year and the noise level in the house is very tolerable. However if playing the electric guitar is what my son really wants than I will support it. My husband says that he has found a very good quality beginner electric guitar.
Now we need to get him some good lessons and some learn how to play guitar videos, DVD’s and books. As parents we will support this but insist that he keep the noise level at an acceptable volume.
