For the Love of Guitar!

daniel childrens acoustic guitarsThe acoustic guitar is a popular instrument in our family.  Both of my parents played and performed in our area.  I have played off and on throughout the years and now both my son and daughter are expressing an interest to play.  We are very delighted but also hope that they don’t have to play.  With the holidays literally just around the corner we are really giving serious consideration to purchasing some quality childrens acoustic guitars!

We have some very good instructors in our family who have a lot of experience and will provide acoustic guitar lessons.  We also know of some really good learn to play guitar books and DVD’s. It is all very exciting and I believe the love of guitar has actually brought our family closer together.   I think it will be a fine Christmas!

Playing in a Family Band

jake amatuer guitarsPlaying the guitar has been a wonderful hobby and pastime for many people over the years.  Nowhere is this more true than in our family.  My husband has played acoustic and electric guitar for most of his life.  Our eldest son has also experienced the joy of electric/acoustic guitar playing since the age of 10 and now accompanies his father on some gigs at local coffee houses, churches and even some popular watering holes.  Now Jake, our middle son wants to get into the act.  My husband thinks a beginner guitar would be perfect for Jake.  I must admit this makes me happy too, as long as it’s what Jake really wants.

My husband just informed last night that he has looked at some very good amateur guitars at a local music store that look like they were made for Jake.  He is also going to do a price comparison online.  I do believe that Jake will be thrilled as Christmas is around the corner and his birthday is the following month.  Now if Mom can find an instrument she TOO may join the family band!

Chords Are the Foundation of Rock Songs

childrens electric guitarsBefore they can read words, sentences, paragraphs and novels, kids must learn their ABCs. By developing a solid foundation in the basics – figuring out how to identify, write and say each letter of the alphabet – kids are provided with a template for literacy. A similar approach can be used to teach them how to play childrens electric guitars. Try breaking down the lessons to their most basic component.

Just as letters are the building blocks of words, guitar chords are the most basic unit of a popular rock song. A great rhythm guitar player often learns by aping a chord chart, then working on transitional movements between the chords. Encourage your children to build songs from scratch using the chords they have learned, but remember to keep them on track with traditional lessons as well.

gabby beginner childrens guitarsMy niece Gabby has spent many weekends with me for many years!  My brother is a single parent and often works long shifts on weekends.  My boyfriend Stan and I are happy to take Gabby in.  She is such a “happy go lucky” and giving child and we practically consider her one of our own.  Stan has played acoustic guitar in a trio with 2 of his very best friends.  He plays local gigs and Gabby and I are often in the audience cheering him on!  As Christmas is approaching, Stan and I are SO sure what we need to get Gabby this year, a childrens acoustic guitar!

My brother will be delighted because he is such a good father and only wants the best for his “little girl”.  Stan already knows where to find good beginner childrens guitars!  I would not be surprised if Gabby joins Stan and his buddies on stage!  I am very sure that a kids acoustic guitar will give Gabby and our family more joy than ever imagined!

nicholas childrens electric guitarsI LOVE to rock!  My little brother Nicholas also LOVES to rock!  He follows me everywhere and gets most excited when he watches me “rock out” on my electric guitar!  I think I now have my parents convinced at they “have to have to have to!” get him a kids electric guitar!  I have even pointed out to my parents how affordable childrens electric guitars are!  I am happy to report that I think I have convinced my parents that I am right!

I let my parents know that starting at his age on a beginner childrens guitar will only help him later on.  They are concerned that Nicholas also take time for other interests but I informed them that playing guitar has not distracted me from other interests.  I can hardly wait for Christmas morning!  Nicholas will be SO psyched!

molly kids drumsetsI have a wonderfully talented daughter who just informed that she must now add a childrens drumset to her repertoire. She began singing at a young age and would pick up any object our home and pretend to play the guitar like her older brother.  Next you know we bought her a really cute kids electric guitar!  She formed her own little band claiming she would be taking over Miley Cyrus’ job any day now.   Now at the age of 8 we need to find her a kids drumset so she can complete her band!

My husband is along for the ride and tells me that if it is what she really wants than he is all for it!   I tend to do most of the Christmas shopping so I must now size up childrens drumsets so we can get a good one in time for Christmas!  Maybe she’ll be issuing concert tickets soon!  I’ll let you know!

ivan childrens acoustic guitarsMusic has been a part of our family for more years than I can remember.  Both of my parents sing in our church choir and my parents also perform in a singing chorale throughout the year.  All of us kids have been exposed to many different types of music.  My kid brother seems to want to play the guitar and I think my parents are going to help my brother Ivan follow this interest.  They told me that they have been checking out different types of childrens acoustic guitars.  Ivan is going to be SO excited on Christmas morning.

So now that my parents have warmed up to this idea, maybe they will consider getting me a beginner electric guitar.  I have been dying to get one for many years and now my parents see how affordable they are.  I can see it now, one day Ivan and I will “jam” together on our very cool guitars!  Well maybe in a few years.   We’ll see.

Playing Guitar With My Daughter

sally amatuer guitarsWhen I began playing the guitar many years ago I basically taught myself.  I didn’t have a lot of money and my parents basically scrounged to find the money to get the guitar.  My older cousin Gary who played bass guitar in a local band gave me lessons when he had time.  Now as a parent there are so many good quality and amazingly cheap amateur guitars online that weren’t available to me when I was a kid.  My daughter Sally says she wants to play the acoustic guitar.  I have begun looking not only for childrens acoustic guitars but also acoustic guitar lessons.

Christmas is just around the corner and I know this will be the perfect gift for Sally.  I am slightly more enthusiastic about getting a childrens acoustic guitar than my wife because I know firsthand how much joy it has brought me.  Who knows maybe one day she and I will be able to perform together!

The Benefits of Finding a Hobby for Your Child

robby beginnr childrens guitarsOur son Robby has been playing his kids electric guitar for about a year now and he couldn’t be happier.  A year ago he expressed an interest in learning to play beginner guitar and we decided to look into it further and were delighted at what we found.   We found some really good websites that were selling quality and affordable beginner childrens guitars.  We purchased one that seemed to be a perfect fit for Robby and we realized very soon just how good this purchase was.

Playing the childrens electric guitar has provided so many unexpected benefits from learning a skill and a discipline to showing much more interest and concentration in other very important areas of Robby’s life.  I think getting your children involved in a hobby at a young age is a very good idea and I am so glad that we did this for Robby. Whether you buy your child a kids instrument or sign him or her up for horseback riding lessons, the unexpected benefits can be amazing!

When Your Kid Wants To Be The Next Hannah Montana!

sarah childrens electric guitarsWhether you kid wants to be Hannah Montana or one of the Jonas Brothers, it is important to honor their passion while also encouraging individual creativity.  My Sarah “knows” she will be the next Hannah Montana and simply “must” have an electric guitar for Christmas so she can begin her budding career.  As a very “hip” mom I guess I will be searching for the “right” childrens electric guitar for my little starlet.  In the limited research that I’ve done already, I see many appropriate affordable and fun childrens electric guitars.

So now I am debating whether or not to actually get her a Hannah Montana kids electric guitar or get her one of the many very cute “girls” kids guitars!  I actually think this is a fun little venture and can hardly wait to put this all together for Sarah!   My older son really enjoys playing bass guitar and I look forward to seeing them share their love of music together!  Merry Christmas everyone!
